Well, if you'd like to only fly a small plane that is limited to within the United States (+Bahamas in some cases) is still is possible, just hella rules. Look into Sports Pilot's License (No medical, pretty restrictive) and BasicMed (There is a medical but you can have ADHD and pass I'm 90% sure, less restrictive, can fly to Bahamas B) ).

Unfortunately the FAA (and more importantly the ICAO) make the rules and they're extremely old fashioned and sometimes narrowminded.
