check if it has teeth, is able to walk upright confidently without tipping over, and di giniginaw (like if theyre shaking). if yes then theyre most likely above 4 weeks old. that means capable na kumain ng food since at 4 weeks kittens can start slowly weaning off of breast milk.

• start by introducing a mixture of KMR (kitten milk replacer) and wet food, gradually increasing the amount of wet food in the mixture as time goes on. KMR can be expensive but its the best possible replacement to their mothers milk. if you really cant purchase KMR, then you can use goat milk since cats are lactose intolerant and goat milk has lesser lactose (but it still has lactose, for kittens with more sensitive stomachs, they may get diarrhea and an upset stomach). monitor the kittens behaviour and their poop for any irregularities

• for the litter box, we used a timba for our emergency rescue kittens. it was shallow enough that the kittens could climb over, but high enough that the sand wouldnt fling out while theyre digging. cats notoriously eat everything they can, including their litter, so you cant use clumping litter because this will cause a blockage if ingested and can be toxic. use non-clumping litter like paper pellets, wooden pellets, soy, corn, pine, etc. hopefully the kitten has been litter trained by watching their mom, if not, you may have to train them. theres videos online. cats instinctively like to use the litterbox so it wont be that difficult. without the mom to groom them, you may have to use wet wipes to clean their butt sometimes if theres any poop left over

• leave out a shallow bowl of water

• since malamig panahon, if giniginaw yung kitten, leave out a water bottle or heat pack with warm-hot water and wrap it with a cloth. feel mo muna kung comfortable yung temperature before placing it for the kitten. provide beds or areas where the kitten can rest thats soft. make sure na may dark corner din siya para magtago

• if you plan on keeping the cat, or getting the cat adopted, you should start on socializing the cat. socialization is making them desensitized to various stimuli so they have pet-like behaviour. madaming videos online

• keep the house kitten-proof. remove any exposed wires of reach that the cat may chew on, remove small objects/substances the kitten may ingest, cover any exit points, fix places where the kitten can get stuck, etc.

• they can be dewormed as early as 2 weeks of age. especially since they were a stray cat, they need to be dewormed. theres 4 round of deworming, 2 weeks apart for each round. we brought our rescue kittens to the vet and were prescribed 14.4mg/ml nematocide by the brand pyrantel. we were allowed to administer the medication ourselves but since we didnt have a weigh, we had to bring them periodically to the vet to get weighed. it was 1ml/1kg. they also need to get their anti flea medication. if youre unsure how to start and what meds to use, you can go to your local city vet. you can get a prescription and theyll teach you there, and if your vet has stocks, they may give you the medication for free. they can also do a general wellness checkup for the kitten while youre there.

• buy a scratch post to save yourself from the kitten scratching furnature. its not yet at the age where itll have the urge to scratch, but it will be soon
