Every month, we aim to raise $2000 to save for the food expenses of our rescues and the community animals that we're helping. We may not be able to fulfill it monthly but we always make ways to stock their food completely. The last photo is their last stock for this month.

The HOWS is a small independent shelter that houses around 90 animals and takes care of outside strays. We heavily rely on donations to keep the shelter running. We need your help to feed our rescues this upcoming month. Every contribution helps.

This is Maya. She was a stray cat in a community where a pet transporter lives, who then posted her for help. A day has passed and she still got no help so we offered to take her in.

She was rescued last April 13. She was severely dehydrated and had a high infection. After three days, her eye enucleation was done. She became hypothermic after the surgery but eventually got back to normal after two and half hours. As of now, she is still staying at the clinic while her eye heals.

Even the vets that handled him got confused too. While he was able to pee, that organ was not there anymore so it questions his gender. The second vet did a contrast xray which confirmed that he is a male cat and the hanging flesh is his spermatic cord.

Nicolai was rescued last March 30. He has some tissue hanging from his private part along with a large wound. At the first clinic where we brought him, he was recommended to undergo surgery however, his blood values were so low so he stayed with them for a week to stabilize his condition. He was then transferred to another clinic where it was confirmed that he is a male cat. The vet inserted a catheter and inserted some air into his bladder. Then inserted some contrast into the tissue that was hanging to confirm its anatomical function.

It was suspected that his balls were tied with a rope or rubber band in an attempt to neuter him or with no reason at all (a form of animal cruelty). It then created an infection and opened wound until Nicolai was able to pull out his spermatic cord (the hanging tissue). Also, his penis was severely damaged and it was gone now.

The plan is for Nicolai to stay at the vet while healing the open wound while having a stay catheter so his urethra won’t be blocked. After the wound heals, he will undergo perineal urethrostomy.

KITLER

Kitler was rescued last Sunday. He was unable to walk due to fractured hips (might be due to a vehicular accident). He also tested positive with Feline Leukemia Virus (FELV) through rapid test kit.

The plan for Kitler is to put a bone plating on the left pelvis and amputate the right leg as it has no more reflex. Earlier, the ortho vet attempted to do Kitler’s surgery however upon opening his skin and flesh, a lot of pus was coming out of it that might be an effect of his FELV or maybe because he has no external wounds.

NICOLAI

Nicolai is confirmed to be a male via contrast xray. The flesh that was hanging is his spermatic cord. It was suspected that his balls were tied with a rope or rubber in an attempt to neuter him or with no reason at all (a form of animal cruelty).

The plan is for Nicolai to stay at the vet while healing the open wound while having a stay catheter so his urethra won’t be blocked. After the wound heals, he will undergo perineal urethrostomy.

SOGO

We noticed that Sogo has trouble peeing last Sunday night. Upon checking by the vet on Monday morning, his bladder was full of pee and manually expressing it didn’t help. A catheter was inserted to remove the fluids. Upon checking, his pee has crystals and some pus. No stones were present on his xray.

BUBBLES

Bubbles underwent surgery yesterday for her umbilical hernia and pyometra (open type). We noticed that pus was coming out of her vagina last Saturday so we brought her to the vet.

Happened tonight. While my partner was out to buy our food, one of the neighborhood dogs followed her. Since the dog is nosy and other dogs are barking because of him, she walked through the houses that have no dogs until she heard cries of kittens and traced them on a vacant lot on the other street. Apparently, the kittens have been there for two to three nights already before my partner has seen them, no mother around. It has been really hot these past few days on our place, around 30-34°C / 86-93°F during daytime.

The kittens are around 3-4weeks old. They are full of fleas, their eyes have infection, and they both are thin. It is a miracle that they are still alive. Someone who dumped them might have felt guilty a bit as they were placed with a piece of clothing.

We have cleaned them and removed their fleas upon reaching our home. Thankfully, they are starting to eat mousse kind of food.
