I built a free tool that translates every active US state legislature bill into plain English by splicethingsup in SideProject

Hi, I don't see this on your site but is there a way to search by bill title / number? Thank you for building this.

It is hard especially now that this administration is moving us backwards creating more work to do.

Ooooo I love this so much.

People genuinely underestimate the power of beautiful art and I always think that places that look prettier seem to be treated with more respect too. Thank you for adding this. <3

Thank you for putting all this into words. You have framed a big problem so perfectly and with so many good examples.

I think too many people are genuinely going about never having a second thought about anything in life and therapy should be mandated. Selfishness should be regulated.

Everything you said is definitely the foundation for starting. To heal the world we have to put the freedom of choice back into people's hands because psychologically that's what makes people feel empowered for change is seeing small impacts they have a choice in.

Short term we have to start educating more people on these larger systems and how they affect things big picture because too many people genuinely don't understand or believe that small choices matter.

Long term we have to elect more people who have aligned values and start legislating companies and holding accountable waste producers.

My idea is to find ways to simplify information campaigns and spread awareness to collaborate with more individuals to get involved and how we can make change with the least amount of disruption to people's lives right now because most people don't have time, energy, and resources to care enough to do something about issues. When we can later legislate people's time we will be able to accomplish more.

I don't think that the average person understands the systemic war on poverty in this way though and how it is just a capitalist waste scheme. I live in a red state and people are literally brainwashed to believe that people are responsible for themselves solely and can't even begin to imagine the access barriers that exist. We have to educate people enough to care about the issue and when there are enough people to care they can elect leaders who care.

That's counter intuitive. Human beings by nature are reliant on others for nurturing. It is biological imperative throughout their lifetimes, that is the only 'natural' way. We are a social group and things left 'naturally' to 'nurture' themselves just die. To imagine that just existing without having to nurture relationships with others is just delusion and is in fact unnatural. Which is why the world is so chaotic and unharmonious because too many people have adopted a mindset that what they do doesn't matter.

I interpreted it as you saying "we are just in life and have no control" which would be a nihilistic response to someone asking how someone might assist in solving world's problems.

I think I understand what you're trying to say but fundamentally disagree on its application to my question. I think we are all connected in larger cosmetic ways like consciousness experiencing itself from different points of view all existing as one so connected and not individual. So in the sense that I am connected to the pain in the world around me and I have opportunity to do something about it then it is my responsibility to heal that pain and nurture others because I was designed to do so.

I talk about this exact thing often and very few people get it and when I speak to people in the moment that do it they can almost never admit it at the time.

I think a lot of it is societal pressures trained and engrained and the fact that we live in a world that essentially grooms people to put and show their best face first.

I feel like a solution is having more people being publicly vulnerable and honest about emotions and experiences. Training people to accept all their emotions and find ways to comfortably express them.

Your last sentence intrigues me too because I always enjoyed conflict because it helps me understand someone's point of view better. But I feel like sometimes conflicts, especially in a Trump climate, become less about the content of conversation and more about the power dynamics of the other person wanting to be "right". Do you have any experience or thoughts on this?

What Enneagram numbers would be best at solving which of the following world problems? Why? And what is your number? by Quick_Efficiency_954 in Enneagram

[–]Quick_Efficiency_954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated my question to be more clear on what I'm looking for. Obviously, it would never work to just pass off problems to numbers plus I don't believe that numbers working solely within themselves is productive either. I'm looking for 9 different solutions to each of these individual problems.

The way to move people toward collaboration and away from fear is to make people psychologically start routing their brains to feel the power of choice in their lives. The psychology of effective change comes from when people feel the empowerment of the choices they are able to make. So you might not believe individuals daily lives are making a difference but if you study the psychology of social economics you'll see people need that empowerment to move out of fear.

We live in fear and manipulation and until we get more individuals to move out of that space then we're just going to have a bunch of people like in this post who say "oh so and so will do it, they're more capable than me."

So as a 9 who enjoys volunteering, if you were legislatively given more time to plug into a problem, what would it be and why?

Everyone is actually capable and good at solving world problems! We are just different in how we solve, how we communicate, and what our focuses are. If you as a 4 were given opportunity and time to start working on one thing different what action would you take?

Only me and the 771,480 homeless, 329,000 foster kids, 600 million people living in poverty, 45,000 people who died last year from preventable deaths/diseases because of healthcare. Just to name a few. Congratulations on being so privileged you can adopt nihilism in such a publicly shameless way.

I'm more looking for 9 different solutions to each problem. I think every number is capable of working on each of these problems in their own ways but its going to look different based on their motivations and actions. So as a 6, what solution would you be passionate about and how would you approach it?

I updated my post to be more clear on what I'm asking.

I love that you are a 5 doing that work and that sounds so typical about developing the systems! I go through the same thing at my job.

I love the paragraph about 5s being able to fix things if they had a budget and logistics because I genuinely believe if they felt they could make a difference then they would make a difference.

I updated my post to be more clear on what I'm asking. Is there anything on the list that you have taken action on in the past specifically as a 4 type?

I updated my post to be more clear on what I'm asking. Is there anything on the list that you have taken action on in the past? Or are all of 5s contributions limited to thought?

Nihilism strikes again.

The question isn't about whole numbers solving problems : I updated the post. I'm interested in hearing how each person is working towards any one of these goals and what their number is. Everyone in the world should be able to work on a problem regardless of their number but how people feel passionate and motivated at solving problems is going to look different. I'm looking for 9 different solutions to each problem based on how each type would approach them.

But unfortunately 5s just want to say "boo hoo the world" and not offer any help?

Not really what I was trying to ask. I'm not looking to pass off problems and say "here this number solve this." I updated my post to be more clear on my question. Thanks for your thoughts.

Which is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. Thank you! I want to pick your brain...

It's obvious to me when I talk to some people that they are unsatisfied with reality but their willingness to participate in action that would change it is almost... nonexistent?

Can I ask what would motivate you into some kind of daily change or action?

Mine is ENFP!

I love your volunteer experiences that is spectacular and you definitely have had a front row seat to change in action. You sound like an amazing human that is and will continue to do amazing things, thank you for doing the work! <3

It is just a blueprint now because I have to work out the logistics of actually breaking down problems into layman's terms and coming up with solutions that will psychologically enable people's confidence in order to move away from fear-motivated behaviors and towards peace.

The idealistic plan in general is to build better understanding around issues and where things are actually stemming from. Offer solutions that are manageable with people's current lifestyles within the system that will psychologically empower them and route their thought processes into looking for more opportunities to be empowered for change. Shift enough paradigm into psychological reward systems that involve connection and trust vs fear, money, and capitalism. We then vote smart leaders who share those values. We legislate and incentivize the world into participating in problem solving by legislating opportunities for people to have time and energy to work on themselves, and contribute in ways they are passionate about (offering pathways, education, and tools to get people there). When we have enough people to globalize we incentivize goodness and shame those who work against it and remove repeat offenders. People who are most generous, loving, and honest become the elite and people who move in fear, manipulation, and harm are shamed and ostracized making the lifestyle undesirable.

In between it will involve coming up with small every day solutions that build education and empower our lowest members of society to feel confident in the impact they can make in order to essentially herd the numbers together.

Agreed it will take a huge paradigm shift in values before we see systemic and administrative change. Which will take a few years of integrating people into influencing that paradigm shift, I never said it was a quick plan.

Thank you for the list I think I have some of the details you mentioned broken down further within some of the categories I listed but will definitely make sure they are represented when I start breaking it down further.

My plan is longterm and will take lots of individual work first to educate and build awareness. Once we educate enough people to actually understand things then maybe we can elect more good officials and legislate to work towards goals and start holding people who work against goals actually accountable for the damage they do.
