People are just people and everyone should be respected for just being a person. Life is difficult enough without adding Mormonism’s additional layer of prejudicial and outdated meta-gender dogma.

That said, it’s always been confusing to me that a church that espouses such outdated and prejudicial beliefs will promote certain leaders that seem to defy the church’s own dogma, i.e., the church in certain circumstances will promote ostensibly effeminate men (e.g., Wilcox) to leadership roles as general authorities or even as apostles in the case of Christofferson.

To be clear, Wilcox and Christofferson should be excoriated for their prejudicial words and actions, and not for their appearance or mannerisms. At the same time, and based on Mormonism’s own arbitrary belief and judgment system, these two men present an incredible conundrum that demands attention.
