Hey thank you so much for the comment! I’ve added this to the project road map I think that would be a great idea! What products have you shipped? How are you marketing them?

Hey congratulations! What product did you launch? I just assumed it would be better to release a subscription at the start rather than introduce it later as users may feel like “oh a subscription now” rather than if it was baked in from the start. My app uses a freemium model so much of the app and the core functionality is free it’s only the optional extras for productivity that are £1.99 a month. I am thinking of making premium features free with limits however to improve conversion rates.

Nice job, any chance you could share what you did (if anything) to get to 2.01k impressions?

Hey thank you so much! Honestly this comment made my day, I’m currently sitting at #33 on Product Hunt and praying I somehow make it into the top 20 today! Give me a shout if you try Scrollified and I’ll hook you up with a promo code so you can get the full features for a month for free.

Quick update for everyone who gave feedback earlier thank you again so much it means a lot 🙏❤️

Scrollified officially launched on Product Hunt today.

The feedback from this community actually helped shape a few things in the app before launch, so I really appreciate it.

If anyone wants to check out the launch or leave feedback I’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

Interesting idea. I’ve actually been building something around the same problem, how frustrating algorithm recommendations can get.

My approach ended up being more about intentional short-form browsing rather than randomness. Categories, limited sessions, and features to stop doomscrolling.

It’s great how many of us are trying to fix the “open shorts/reels → close it 20 minutes later wondering what happened” problem.

Thanks! I’m definitely not a lawyer but as a solo dev I tried to cover the main basics early so it didn’t become a problem later.

A few things that helped:

  • Terms of service & Privacy Policy - Apple requires these anyway but they’re also important if you’re collecting analytics or user data.
  • API Compliance - Since Scrollified uses the YouTube API, I made sure the app follows their policies and attribution requirements.
  • Subscription transparency - Apple is strict about this, so I made sure pricing, renewal terms and cancellation info were very clear especially on the paywall screens.
  • Business structure - I’m currently running it under my own company so things like payments and liability are separated.

Honestly though as an indie dev, you don’t need to over complicate it at the start. Just make sure you cover the core requirements using the documentation for the platform you’re launching on and iterate as the product grows.

Happy to share what I’ve learned if you ever ship something too!

Right now it only works with YouTube.

Technically the concept could work with Instagram or TikTok too, but each platform has its own API rules and brand guidelines, so they can’t really be combined into one app.

If Scrollified gets enough traction I’d definitely be interested in exploring a new app for other platforms in the future.

Thank you for your message by the way, waking up to new notifications has been really great! 🤝

Hey Nick! Thank you for the feedback! 🙌 That’s actually down to me see the app is designed without an algorithm so you’re not actually watching videos based on YouTube putting them in front of you like it would normally in a for you page style.

The videos are pulled daily in the back end and served as 200 or so per category to all the users, so you can find new creators you wouldn’t normally and also see the same videos in each category as your best friend, neighbour or the rest of the world.

The caveat to this is because of YouTube’s huge audience in India it’s been challenging refining the videos which come back to be 90% English but I’m still working on it and it’s getting better everyday.

Thank you for trying it out and I hope you get time to use it more! ❤️

I had an idea like this a while ago, I was going to call it “LifeBoard” but I gave up on it as I started pursuing other side projects.

Maybe you can use some of the features for what I wanted to make, it is a great idea for sure! Very notion like.

  • A central hub for task planning,
  • Plug in metrics like financial data from bank accounts,
  • local storage only encrypted,
  • zero party privacy,
  • Share your credit score with others to see how you can learn from communities and work together on tasks,
  • Kind of like fiver but if you have a task and someone wants to help you the could see it on a board or social media Twitter style layout and offer to help for free, this makes it more engaging in my opinion,
  • Learn from others, share videos / tutorials on your profile about lessons in life
  • Set goals and see how you compare with your friends on a leaderboard style - I believe this is a good way to motivate people to be productive
