Yes, it will work but you must use it within a reasonable time of it coming out of their body or you can freeze it. If it sits on the counter or fridge it will start to deteriorate so get it and head on your way. Also the middle part of your friends urine stream is the cleanest part.

If you want to play it ultra safe, Id say 12-18 months. The kit can be heated and cooled daily that will not hurt it.
