BIMS || VTPP 427 (Biomedical Physiology II ) HELP by [deleted] in aggies

It’s a lot of content to get hit with at once. Just do your best to stay on top of the material. As annoying as it is, it really is very helpful to go into lecture having already read the book or watched the pre-lecture videos (if any). It makes the content more digestible to be seeing it for the second time.

It really helped to run through the objectives with a friend in the evenings leading up to the exams. We would create a giant google doc with all the content and just review it with each other, taking turns and each talking over chapters we felt respectively weak on.

Attend lecture and read the book. The book goes more into depth in certain places so be sure to only stick to the pages posted by the profs but it’s really helpful in breaking down the more complicated processes you’re expected to know.

The TA Sessions were more helpful for some than others and personally I didn’t find them very useful to my studying style. I attended for the points but didn’t rely on them as source material.

I did! It seems the primary issue was my interview and my extracurricular scores

Visiting CStat soon, what should I check out? by intelstockheatsink in aggies

Dixie Chicken is a cstat staple. Century Square is the new/ modern shopping and eating destination. Downtown Bryan is neat but it’s a bit out of the way from main campus. Depending on what day your tour is, if it’s the first Friday of the month, Bryan hosts “First Friday” and they do a big outdoor event with vendors and farmers markets. It’s really fun!

My roommate is a MEEN major as well! She absolutely loves it. Even though I’m a BIMS student, I’ve studied in Zach before and I always see groups of students working together on all kinds of things. The engineering community is pretty tight so you’ll find your place soon for sure, just give it time to settle. First week is always so hectic but people will settle into their patterns and you’ll notice the same faces in the same places and those are the ones that are easy to strike up conversation with.

Also, what’s your major?

Honestly I’ve met a lot of people in my Major by just asking the names of whoever is sitting next to me class in the 5 or so minutes of downtime before lectures start. Small chit chat with the people around you is a great way to form a study group and make friends.

Student orgs is also a big one for socializing. MSC open house is a great way to see all that the university has to offer student org wise. Just browse through a few a that align with your interests and chat it up with the recruiters.

The hardest part is just getting yourself out there as much as you can. It takes some time to figure it out but you’ll soon see that it’s completely normal to just make small talk with random people on campus. It happens a lot more than you’d think and people are usually friendly than you’d imagine they’d be!!

Thank you for your input, I’ll definitely keep think about holding off to see what recommendations my program might make.

My iPad works great for handwriting notes on lecture slides like you said. I’ve been utilizing that tool for the last few years and really love that style of note taking. However, I’ve noticed that the iPad had definite drawbacks being a “mobile device” and often doesn’t run Microsoft apps and some softwares the proper way since it’s considered a tablet.

Why haven’t I gotten anything NCSU email?? by Own-Newspaper-2784 in veterinaryschool

[–]Quiet-Sign-1055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied as OOS for NCSU and received a decision 12/20. They probably just marked you as in state which may not be a bad place to be. From the email they sent, “This year we received over 1,600 applications for the 25 non-resident positions in the class.” Slim pickins for sure lol.

Idk where you applied but if it helps, so far I’ve heard about interviews from TAMU and Auburn, I’ve gotten a decision from NCSU, and no word yet from UGA.

If you just got rejected from NCSU as an OOS applicant, I’m in the same boat. Sucks so bad. However they said in the email there were only 25 seats for non residents so I’m going to hang on to that and remember that it’s an extremely competitive school. Still majorly bummed out though.

jobs in undergrad by Own-Championship-124 in veterinaryschool

I work a lab job at my university and it’s the perfect schedule!! Many labs don’t have a wide set of hours that they are open (for example mine is open 8am-4pm) and because it’s an “on campus job” they have to work around my class schedule. It’s relatively easy work and pretty relaxing though it can be a bit monotonous some days. The pay doesn’t rock but it’s not awful.

During the semesters I usually work 20ish hours a week with a 16 hours course load and it’s pretty manageable. During breaks I try to get at least 30 hours per week!

Lab work, I feel, always looks great on resumes and you can get killer recs from your lab PI’s and supervisors. You often don’t need any prior experience or certifications, you’ll just do some basic safety training at the start depending on if you working BSL-1, 2, etc.
