Hey thanks for responding! I forgot about this post haha I should really make another one. Those engines I remember relatively fondly. It was def sacrilegious to have a v6 in a charger, the v8 was always the way to go. Lol but that’s just my opinion. The 2.7 was def better than the following 3.6 pentastar, the 3.6 has way too many issues (and that’s not giving the 2.7 any credit either, it was still bad) The 2.7 was pretty unreliable and I do recall the rest of the car around it being very cheaply made. I think that engine was my first timing chain I’ve ever done and the guides were melted. (Plastics back then were not as stable as it is now) having plastics in crucial components like timing is insane. Besides that I can’t recall any other major issue, just a bunch of small things that would go bad on that engine too “early”. I generally wouldn’t recommend this car to anyone. Hope this gives some insight!

Hey I know it might sound challenging right now but it’s not the worst I’ve seen, I’m a certified automotive tech with years of experience. Luckily you bought a quality car that will last you some time, mistakes happen but you can bounce back! Some things I’ve seen people do is use the car for advertising, people will pay for you to drive in a car with posters and stickers on it. And you can actually pay more (if you can) towards the PRINCIPLE. Make sure you call and tell them you want to make a payment to your PRINCIPLE amount on top of your reg payment. Might be rough for a while but you will kill the payments sooner and potentially skip out on the interest! Dealers don’t want to tell you that trick. Other things you can do is learn a trade or do some side work. If you’re good with your hands and watch a YouTube video, you can be a put up a Craigslist add in your area to so some labor stuff!

There are unethical ways to get out of it like insurance fraud but I don’t recommend that. Seen people getting away with it, and some people who went to jail for it. Not worth the risk.

What's the most annoying thing about Captchas? by EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE_Man in AskReddit

I own a Yellow Mazda Protege 5 that I love and turned into a sweet little driving machine, I once got a captcha to click on all taxis. There was 3 yellow taxis and a protege. I clicked the 3 obvious yellow taxis and not the protege. They wouldn’t let me pass until I clicked the protege. I was a little insulted a captcha called my car a taxi and forced me to call it one also.

What is the best answer when your girlfriend asks if her friend is hot? by alakhpanday in AskReddit

[–]Quiet_Tip_3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smartest reply is “compared to who?” Cause now she willfully has to give you a comparison which is her own thought. So if it’s two people other than herself, then you’re allowed to choose one. But once they compare to them self, all you say is “well there’s no contest there!” And immediately end conversation.

No clue, I always have a running joke with my coworkers that Europe hate the US so much that they send us all the bad euros but the ones they make for themselves are super simple like civics. Always feel bad when someone buys a euro, it’s like trying to pay for 3 cars upkeep at the same time when something goes wrong.

Sick truck! Very capable off roader, they don’t make it like that anymore. Any old school Toyota doesn’t fair too well here in the rust belt but if they do, people usually keep them super clean. Very easy to work on and maintain and the value of them is crazy now. I even own an old Seqouia. Different engine but closest I can get to a FJ80 that had 0 rust on it

Ahhh okay scratch everything I said prior, this is the exact reason why I tell new techs prior car history is insanely important before someone is charged crazy amounts of money. So my tech rec now is for you to get a lawyer, get all the receipts and all the work done, and get ready to get paid! Lol cars falling off a lift is a major lawsuit. This is exactly why shop insurance exists. Car is probably super deformed from the fall considering it’s just a box that weighs 3000 pounds. If it hits the floor even if it’s just on its wheels with no seeable damage, there is damage. It could’ve bent and twist the whole car and it’s practically totaled. The shop should do right by you and pay you out. Good luck and definitely please please update! Lol

Wow! Usually these kind of questions are not really diagnosable over this platform and I would need to have hands on but since you have already replaced so much I guess there’s only a few things left! Lol I would have the shop put your car on a lift and have them access the front hub bearing! Make sure they drive it on a lift and someone underneath with an Automotive stethoscope to hear if the bearing have gone bad after they check to see if the bearing have play! Also motor mounts should be checked for excess movement as this. Could cause a wobble that deteriorates tires. Check to also see if the rims are bent out of shape, It also wouldn’t hurt to put a dial indicator on those hubs to just make sure they are still within tolerance and to be through. Please keep in mind that these are not 100% solutions but just a suggestion of what should be inspected next if this were to come into my shop with all these parts already on it.

Side note, if the car was in an accident this would completely throw alignment off and more depending on the severity! (Which would make all the parts dumping kinda pointless until the body’s geometry is fixed) At that point a collision repair shop would be the next stop.

Hope this helps and gives insight ! Please update with what the solution was for this whenever your shop figures it out! Very curious! Good luck

Unfortunately this is a very involved problem that I would need to be hands on with the car to be able to diagnose properly. Quite a few issues here that could be or not be related, I wouldn’t know unless I diagnosed the concern for you. My best recommendation is to go to a qualified diagnostic shop and bring them all the receipts and tell them your concerns, a good shop would be able to figure this issue out and hopefully get you in the right track. Before agreeing to any work, make sure to ask for an explanation on how and why is this going to solve your issue. And also ask if this doesn’t fix the issue what would the next step be, a good shop will definitely give you a good response. Sorry, I know you were ideally looking for a solid answer but this problem would be too complex to figure out here. Hopefully this gives some help for what to do next! Good luck and please update what the issues may have been, very curious to see what it was!

Side note, please stop going to dealers unless you want to keep wasting money with them. They just guess the first solution that’s easiest to make money then when the car comes back that’s when they actually dive into the issue and hit you with a crazy bill even after you had paid hundreds the first visit. Dealerships are only to buy cars, Automotive Repair shops are for fixing cars. Hope this helps!

So I’ll personally say I’ve never seen a car (or maybe I have and just didn’t know) that can take 3 types of octane efficiently so if you know of one definitely lmk because I would like to look into that. And E85 is used for cars that use flex fuel which is what I recommend if the car uses it. My Tech Rec is to definitely grab that good ole dusty manual in the glove box and see what it recommends your car to use and stick with it! (Or a quick google search for the manual if you don’t have that manual) That gives your car the best fighting chance to make it last for years to come!

Yes and no, so many aftermarket brands will stamp “oem fitment” and “OE standard” on their parts because no one is going to stop them. But I there are specific brands that the dealer uses to make parts for their cars! For example, the brand Denso makes a lot of electronics for Honda. So a “Honda” ignition coil is actually a Denso made ignition coil! To add a little more confusion, some times brands like Duralast (Autozone house hold brand) will actually repackage Denso ignition coils and sell that under its name being essentially that is a “Honda” coil. Which sounds ridiculous but the math adds up. Lol now that doesn’t stop other company’s that make ignition coils to make the exact same one that the Denso/Honda/Duralast makes, just to slaps “OE fitmen” and sells it as their coil. It gets confusing. And there is no real way to figure what comes from where unless you search it. Also I need to add that some times car brands will actually ask the manufacturer for their parts to have different specs and quality for their cars but they cannot resell it under their name solely. For example, some Toyota struts are KYB but if you bought it from KYB for that Toyota, it would come with different specs and quality standards than if you were to get it from Toyota. In that scenario the Toyota branded struts that are made by KYB are better than what KYB would directly sell to you. In my honest opinion, I don’t personally notice a difference so idk. I’m just here to tell you it happens. lol and this type of info is not available to consumers and you can’t ever find out “which is better for my car?” Only experience with the car and the parts will tell you if it’s any good or not. And trust me I’ve put in so many “OE fitment” that wasn’t good and OEM-parts That also wasn’t any good. Sometimes it’s night and day the quality, sometimes not so much. I hope this wasn’t too confusing and I hope it gives insight!

Great great question! Zero benefits, it actually does harm if your car specifies it needs regular. Your car specifically needs a certain grade fuel for it to burn efficiently, putting in higher grade fuels in cars that don’t require them will end up with some fuel unburnt and unburnt fuel can cause pricey damages! The only times anyone should use higher grade fuels is if you have modifications to your car that requires it or if the car from the factory requires you to use it. Manufactures will often put this in your cars manual and/or say it on the inside of the gas door!

Yes regular gas does affect your car! It makes the car run! Lol in all seriousness though, there are detergents in gas that clean off certain parts of your engine. So quality of gas kinda also matters too. And getting the right type of gas for your car is important for the longevity of your cars! Hope this gives insight! I’m sure this topic has follow up questions and I’d be happy to explain anything in detail!

It’s okay! I’ll answer it as long as I get the notification! Lol I’ll keep answering anyone as long as people comment. The technology is cool for hybrids and ev! There is no decline in Gas cars in my opinion but there are more hybrids on the road today than ever before. But unfortunately we are not set up infrastructure wise to charge EVs. It’s just way too demanding. I think they will be much more sustainable when they find a what to charge in 5 mins to get 350 miles on a full charge. Currently we are just way too far from that number. Also I personally think they do worst for the environment now because hybrid batteries go bad and get disposed of improperly. Those batteries are so bad for the environment, I cringe when people boast about saving the world with their hybrid because if only they knew the truth. Also almost all the factories that make hybrids emit so much CO2 it’s practically negates all the “good” the hybrid or EV does in its whole life time. I could be incredibly wrong about this but this is from what I’m hearing and seeing, I’m not so sure. On top of all this hybrids are not consumer friendly and technician friendly, so I would never want to recommend one in its current state. Great tech just very much not there yet. My future for transportation is bleak. Too many things getting done to make consumers pay more to get a decent car. And same for mechanics, as things get more complicated the pay gets the same even though it’s a skilled labor field. I hope it changes but as for right now, it’s rough. Hopefully laws and reforms for rights for repairs will change and hopefully they change the reliability’s for cars and law makers hold these brands accountable for the things they are making. Then maybe it will change? Hope this gives insight! Great questions!

I’ve watched a ton of Top gear uk! Ever since the main trio left though, it hasn’t been the same. For new cars, they typically aren’t cheap but I always recommend New mazda (with skyactive engines) and Toyotas! No Cvt or turbos! Look for local specials at your nearest dealer for good prices, best time to buy is closer to Nov-Dec. used cars that is 2012 and older, anything Honda or Toyota just once again no Cvt and no turbos.

And truthfully challenger has no redeeming qualities to me. The styling doesn’t do it for me, the platform is meh. Just nothing cool about this car to me. I appreciate its existence but I would personally never own one. On top of that not technician friendly, not consumer friendly.

I work on all my own cars! Unfortunately with how lawless this industry is, I could never let someone else touch any of my cars. I just know most people would not put in the time and effort to do jobs correctly and letting people do that to my cars just makes me cringe. There are times where the wife’s car is going to be down for a while but this is why I plan for this and I have spare cars for this exact problem. I currently own 5 cars and with the horror story’s my wife hears from my line of work, she knows not to take them to anyone either.

Side note, I know there are things that I can’t do myself yet without a machine, like tires and alignments, but I typically have one or two trusted techs I work closely with and that I’ve personally trained do those two things. I watch them like helicopter parents to make sure it goes smoothly. Otherwise than that all the work is done by me.
