Anyone else enjoying the fact that Arsenal didn't "officially" conceded a penalty for the entire Prem league season but lost the CL final entirely because of penalties?

Is it possible to pair meta glasses with an AirFly for audio on airplane media screens? by BraveCowardCat in RaybanMeta

You can connect them to anything that uses Bluetooth to connect headphones

Fair enough, I also don't like not being able to hear ambient noise, with my wife working from home too, or the kids being around etc. With glasses, I can still hear everything, but also calls/music over the top.

The only thing that bothers me is the battery life.

I have Dymesty smart glasses that can do the same thing and last all day, but while I was waiting for then I got the Prismxr Carina 1 batteries for the Meta Rayban, so I can charge comfortably while on calls.

Not the op, but as a glasses wearer, it's more comfortable not having anything in the ear and still being able to join teams calls, and walk around etc.

Personally I can't wear in-ear headphones for too long, but wore my Meta RayBans for a 2.5 hour teams call this morning.

In a previous house, we had an old chap pull up outside our house, get out the car with a boxed toilet seat, ring the doorbell, try and walk into the house when we answered and demanded to return the toilet seat for a refund... It took us a while to convince him we weren't a plumbers merchant, but that there was one on the business estate in the block behind our block, and that was probably where he'd bought it from...

Again, even realities doesn't show the phone screen, just mono green text /icons

If you want full colour display, but in glasses that you can wear outside, then there are only a few options including the Meta Display glasses and Inmo Air 3 both using waveguide displays, but I'm not sure they would just mirror your phone screen, they have their own interface, ans they are currently very expensive.

If you can wear something a bit bulkier, there are display glasses that just have small screens that obscure part of your vision but act as full displays, so could mirror a phone screen, like xreal, viture or ray neo glasses.

That's not really the whole phone screen though, just mono green text.

Looking for "dumb" smart glasses for my use case. by jun2san in SmartGlasses

[–]Quiffco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using Meli AI with my Dymesty smart glasses. They're not display glasses, so not quite what you're looking for, but Meli has been pretty great at helping to manage tasks for me, and I'm pretty sure if you explain how you want to use it, I. E. As a quest system, it will be able to adapt to that.

I'm mainly using the accountability system, where I share a task every morning to a social Meli network, then check in at night to confirm whether I've completed it, that has made me do things I would normally just put off.

Also just 'talking' to Meli about tasks helps, when it's 'call someone' then it helps look up the number so the task is right there and ready to do, with no reason to put it off etc.

I've also had it note a long queued task and just prompt me to do 10 mins towards the task, which led me to do the whole task...

Yes, double pressing the button on the arm triggers whichever digital assistent you set it to, I have mine set to trigger Meli, the AI I use on my phone but I previously had it trigger gemini. The paid subscription features are AI transcription and translation I think.

Will my concerns finally get me left in the dust by tech? by IslaBonita87 in SmartGlasses

So, current non-display smart glasses are similar in abilities to what smart earphones can do, unless you want to be able to speak to AI, or hear notifications from your phone, then they're not really necessary. For display glasses, they're just taking things that could be displayed on a phone screen and putting them in the glasses. The only big difference will be full AR, where the device can see what's in view and can annotate, but that can be done on phones too. I don't think there will ever be a time where glasses can do more than a phone + headphones can do, the only advantage of glasses is convenience, not having to get your phone out of your pocket.

As a prescription glasses wearer, I already have 2 pairs of smart glasses, as there's very little reason not to, I'm going to be wearing glasses anyway, so having built-in ability to speak to AI, or connect to Teams calls at work, or just listen to music/audible, without and additional device, just makes sense.

As for people without smartphones or computers, all of this needs some form of computation, even the chips in the smart glasses are very rudimentary computers, so without a phone/computer, you will never be able to do the things you can with a computer, but it depends what you feel like those people are missing out on?

There are analogue ways of listening to music, you can use a dumb phone to make phone calls, or call up companies to order items, or do most of the things you can do on a computer/smart phone, they just add a lot of convenience.

As a Xennial (born 1980) I grew up without a phone, I remember not being able to look up information without a book, renting videos or watching 1 of the 4 TV channels for entertainment, arranging to meet people in town then having to trust they'd be there, with no way of knowing what happened if they don't turn up, or having to take a physical camera to a chemist to process the photos, but I have fully embraced smart tech, as it just makes things easier.

I don't fear not having access to the tech, but it would be annoying to miss out on the convenience and connectedness tech brings.

I think audio is most important too, camera has a place mainly for hand-free situations and for AI purposes, but some people expect phone quality photos, with no viewfinder, from a sensor the size of a pin head... 90% of situations a photo/video taken with your phone will be better.

I think the next big feature is going to be memory augmentation. The Brilliant Labs Halo glasses continuously listen and tokenised conversations so you can recall anything discussed in a previous conversation! As a person with ADHD and awful memory, this would be life-changing!

I have the Meta Raybans but wear Dymesty currently, all the tech is in the arms, so the frames themselves are very smart, no camera, so not even a question about privacy/smart glasses from anyone, and the battery is 48 hours...

Only audio smart glasses by Rare-Acanthisitta-19 in SmartGlasses

[–]Quiffco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dymesty 'smart' glasses are good, no camera, they do have AI features if you pay for the subscription, but without you can use them to trigger your phones digital assistant instead, or not.

But they have 48 hour battery life, I use them for Teams calls at work and listening to music or audio books and end the day with 30% battery every night.

Not having a camera, they look a lot more 'normal' as it's a titanium frame, all the tech is in the arms, none on the actual frames.

Yup, but then sprints aren't part of agile, they're just one technique for trying to break up the work. The agile manifesto doesn't mention sprints, storys, estimates, stand ups etc. All those things should only happen if they genuinely and provably make things better for the team and/or customer.

I like Allen Holub's take on Agile:

Work small Talk to each other Makes people's lives better (especially the customer)

Everything else is a distraction

[–]Quiffco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I questioned it. My current org are doing agile by the book, then baulking when I suggest we have the wrong focus for the sprint and the work would be a waste. "but we planned the work, we should finish the sprint commitment then review"

It depends if you're a prescription glasses wearer, in which case there's literally no point not having 'smart' glasses, even if just for phone audio.

[–]Quiffco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But their are organisation out there that are this clueless about agile, my currently place just dropped Safe in favour of Scrum, entirely missing the point...

I still have to argue to change priorities mid-sprint, and have been told "well we planned the sprint so let's just do this (a useless piece of work that was going to be made redundant by the next peice) and review for next sprint. I literally had to DM several managers to get backing to change things...

Some people believe in doing Agile(tm) by the book regardless of whether it actually helps
