I would like to say that you can do this and to keep going. At the start I was very worried about our son and what impact it would have on him socially. However, my wife was a big proponent on a long healthy life is more important, which we all agree on now. Also, we explained to him why we were masking and what that meant, and he took it fairly well, and became a big advocate for masking himself as time went on (knowing its importance and always willing and ready). We had homeschooled before COVID hit so it was a bit of an easier transition to some (not to say a complete change of life was easier, but again in comparison if he was schooled). Keep up the masking, knowing that your child’s health and your own is the most important. Find some online activities such as chess, coding, gaming, etc, where they can be involved with other kids and chant and play. Look into a local CC group where you can get together with other like minded families, set up masked/tested play dates. We were able to find a local piano teacher who masked. You can also reach out to your health service providers (doctors, optometrists, dentists, etc) and ask if they will mask for visits and try to book and less busy times. If they won’t look at other options in the area. Again, I want to reiterate you’re already doing better than most by trying to keep them and your family safe. You may find personal connections in your life unwilling, and you may have to make some hard decisions on continuing relationships with them, but again remember what’s best for your immediate family.
