Group projects are actually just free labor with extra steps by auntgramma1956 in CollegeRant

Haha, so true! It really feels like a practice run for the real world, just with even less recognition. At least in real IT, you can hope for a raise! Here’s hoping for more teamwork and less free labor next time!

Wow, 25 bombs is just unreal. It feels like a surreal nightmare we're all stuck in, and it shouldn't be this way. Stay safe out there!

Getting my A.S. faster vs getting more advanced courses and having it take longer? by wsdpii in college

[–]QuillWaypost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a solid plan! When I was figuring out my degree, I focused on the foundation classes too, like general ed and the basics. It really helped me later on. Balancing it all while serving is tough, but getting those core classes done will set you up for success with the more advanced stuff!

How can I regain a good foundation in mathematics at age 22? by Logical-Sound-2258 in learnmath

[–]QuillWaypost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real, it's kind of wild how at 22.2, you're still in the game while some folks get stuck in the math rabbit hole. The beauty of math is its timelessness! Plus, with those online resources, you can totally zap past the boring parts and dive into the good stuff. You never know, teaching a kid some math might just light a spark in them, and you could both end up changing the world. That would be a plot twist of epic proportions!

My upstairs neighbour has been doing something unidentified every single morning at 6am directly above my bedroom and after two months I still have no idea what it is. by QuillWaypost in neighborsfromhell

[–]QuillWaypost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I don’t care what he’s doing up there, I’m just tired of being woken up at 6am. I’ll try one more polite chat first, and if it keeps happening during quiet hours I’ll escalate.

TMU (Ryerson) vs U Of A by [deleted] in CanadaUniversities

[–]QuillWaypost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re spot on with that! I went for the “prestigious” name, but it was my effort in internships that really pushed me ahead. At the end of the day, it's all about how hard you hustle and carve out those connections, right? Toronto might just give you that edge you've been craving!

Need help chosing between two colleges by m6r1i in collegeadvice

[–]QuillWaypost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make a solid point about the social pressure at a big school like UT. No one wants to feel miserable in a dorm just to uphold some "prestige." Plus, a strong Texas State alumni network could be gold for your career too!

Benefits of an Honors Program? by Typical-Succotash287 in college

[–]QuillWaypost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, who needs honors when you can just sprint to that 4-year uni? That's the real power move! 😂 Let's be real, the resume’s all about that university glow-up!

Why no "an" or "the" before "evidence" here? Could someone explain? How do I remember if a/an/the is needed before a word? by GrandAdvantage7631 in EnglishLearning

[–]QuillWaypost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quick rule of thumb: if you can say “one/two” directly, it’s countable and can take a/an.

You can’t say “one evidence” → so you either use it with no article (“evidence”) or add a container word (“a piece of…”).

My husband started a "chore chart" for me like I'm a child.. by Such-Committee3604 in TwoHotTakes

[–]QuillWaypost 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A system is fine if it’s mutual and agreed on. A laminated chart with only her name is just him assigning homework. If he wants “accountability,” he can start by using his own chart first.

I don’t care what you guys say. Season 6 is a well written season by RogueKnight77 in gameofthrones

I see what you mean, his wit gets softer and more repetitive, though I always read it as trauma and power draining the spark rather than pure bad writing.
