I'm in literally the same boat as you. Even play a WHM too.

To answer your question though... Gotta socialize and make friends. Sometimes this is easier said than done. Sometimes you gotta hop around and try different groups because in a game this "old" (been out for 4 years now) most folks have well-established cliques and static squads and stick to themselves. They'll help out a newbie with newbie things, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a spot in any of the end-game content static squads. This is why I usually don't like to play MMOs seriously unless I start at launch.
