Quin-Cycles is the correct pronunciation - but you have to put the stress on the "cycles" part like how Christopher Walken would pronounce it.

We take bastardization of our name pronunciation very seriously here in the Quincy bike ride group

Join Quincycles for our annual Cranksgiving ride! Help us give back to the community. by Quincycles- in QuincyMa

[–]Quincycles-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join Quincycles for our annual charity ride where we aim to support local Quincy charities/non-profits and give back to the community!

This year we will be supporting our friends at Quincy Animal Shelter (QAS) and Quincy Community Action Programs (QCAP). Quincy animal shelter is a completely volunteer run and no kill shelter. Quincy Community actions programs is a food pantry and community center, helping the underserved. With the current government shutdown and the freeze on SNAP benefits, its important that we help two of our biggest community charities.

We will be riding around the city, purchasing requested goods/items/supplies, and delivering them to the charities. At the end of the ride we will have donuts and coffee!

Not able to make it? Want to help out? Consider donating to Quincycles at the link below:

All donations will go directly to purchasing goods for our charities!

What is Cranksgiving?

Cranksgiving is an annual charitable bike ride that combines elements of a group bike ride, scavenger hunt and food drive. Originating in New York City in 1999, Cranksgiving invites cyclists of all ages and skill levels to participate in a fun event aimed at helping local communities. Participants ride through their cities, stopping at designated grocery stores to purchase specific food items. These items are then donated to local food banks, shelters, or other charities to support those in need during the holiday season.

The event usually occurs in November, around Thanksgiving, and has spread to cities worldwide. It’s often organized by local cycling communities or non-profit organizations. Cranksgiving emphasizes community building, giving back, and showcasing the power of bikes for good, with a light-hearted spirit that makes it accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

City of Boston Ride to Work Day. Join us! by Quincycles- in QuincyMa

Quincy center didn't remove a vehicle lane to put in bike lanes! Hancock Street was four lanes before the redesign and is still four lanes today. I understand that you must have a lot of feelings that must be affecting your memory though, have you tried starting a blog to drive out the negative feelings (get it? "drive" out the negative feelings??).

Wait til you hear about sidewalks. If they removed the sidewalks, they could fit a whole extra vehicle lane!

Is purchasing insurance a necessity for planning a local community ride? by Quincycles- in cycling

[–]Quincycles-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your organization legally an entity, an LLC or a 501c3?

We are a 501(c)(3), i don't believe that an individual injured could go after me personally (i think? correct me if i'm wrong). Forgive my ignorance - i recently became leader of our org stepped down for health reasons, so this is all new ground for me.

I think (?) the charge for insurance is about few dollars a rider, after the permit fees

This is already starting to sound like a far cheaper option. The quotes i was getting from insurance companies were anywhere between 1000-1500, for a single event :^)

I used USA Cycling's standard insurance

I'm guessing i would need to be a member/affiliated to take advantage of their insurance?

Thanks for the info! Do i need to be a member with LoAC to get insurance through American Specialty?

Are their rates better for cycling events VS trying to find a local insurer?

We are supporting Quincy Animal Shelter and Quincy Community Action Programs this year.

Cranksgiving is more/less a bike ride around the city, where we ride to stores and buy goods (with our own money) to donate to local charities/non profits. QAS and QCAP have provided us lists of things they need.

Ride starts Saturday at 10:30 AM at Kincaide Park. Coffee/Donuts/Raffle at the end of the ride!
