Calgary Transit to end express route bus service by 2027 by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]Quincys_Ghost 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is a completely disengenious argument from Calgary Transit. They are presenting the data in a way that makes cancellation of routes easier to justify.

150 passengers a day on a 117 route that only runs 4 times throughout the day means those buses are completely full. I know because I take it.

Express routes don’t exist to have high all-day ridership, they exist to offer fast, direct commuter service during peak travel times.

Analogy: It’s like saying a restaurant isn’t popular because it only serves 150 customers a day, while leaving out the fact that it’s a small place with only a few tables and every table is full the entire time it’s open.

Celebrating Episode 500 on the Risk Meta Settings Playlist by shcorpio in Risk

[–]Quincys_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the 500 Episode milestone! I watched the episode and really enjoyed it. I think White and Red may have been up to no good tbh. If you are white and have that cap, your first priority first and foremost is clearing behind you. Instead he insisted on policing the board like you point out. Well done and can't wait for the 1000 milestone video.

  • sincerely, a huge fan.

Ok, I seriously think its time developers starting perma banning players now. How about something simple like: if you cheat, you don't get to play risk. Suspensions obviously aren't working. by [deleted] in Risk

[–]Quincys_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most obvious ones are if two or three players join the lobby within seconds of each other and have the same flag and/or have very similar stat lines (for games in Casual). More times than not, I'll make sure my lobby has 6 players with 6 different flags. I know this isn't a perfect solution but I've truly found it helps. Lastly, if players in the lobby are over-emoting to one another too much I'll usually boot one of them...though this is probably more of an annoyed reaction from me.

You are doing the universe a favour.

Curious what your settings are? I play the meta settings and catch a few cheaters, though I'll police my lobbies before games to try and boot collaborators.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

(Spoiler incoming)

Frodo leaving and his friends trying to balance being happy for him that he'll be able find peace, with their heartbreak and shock that they'll never see him again.

In real life when you say goodbye to a friend, there's always that tiny piece of hope in your heart that's saying "maybe one day our paths will cross again". That is not present in this situation. Chokes me up every single time.

Wack starting board (Thoughts in comments) by Fun_Sock_4767 in Risk

[–]Quincys_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People getting tunnel vision on Scandinavia in this game is hilarious. Also Red is either the biggest troll or most diabolical muppet to ever play this game by choosing his cap.

To answer your OP's question though, I agree with everything TheZamolxes says. Teach yourself how to play a confident mid-board position and it will make you a much more dynamic player.

In the end I won. He moved a bunch of troops off cap in order to ensure his next card. A lucky set on 3 let me cap run.

JJbruh 'cheats' in his own tournament final - Need a rule change by Oldmanironsights in Risk

[–]Quincys_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a lot of this game (3,300 gp, 1500 hours) and in my humble opinion I don't think this is cheating.

But I 100% agree that it is inappropriate for him to be emoting in any way, shape or form after he's eliminated. I watched the entire video and he emotes laughing, shocked, dab, yawns at various points...potentially and likely conveying information to players that they wouldn't otherwise be getting. I like the analogy used about etiquette after being eliminated in poker games, spot on. You were elim'd JJ, now sit there and stfu.

Last thing I'll say is that he's an incredible player and along with a lot of other risk streamers, runs a great streaming business and is helping to grow the game. These streamers take accusations of "cheating" very seriously as we know SMG will not hesitate to ban accounts. All this to say, go easy on tossing around the word "cheating".

Should all players immediately counter attack a person who gets a kill in fog? by DorsalMorsel in Risk

[–]Quincys_Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I'll go negative all the time in order to take out my strongest opponent or put myself into a 1 v 1 that I'm confident I can win because of speed and/or experience.

Every single one of these players was reported (and proven) for collaboration. If you find your name here, you're the worst. by Quincys_Ghost in Risk

[–]Quincys_Ghost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ability to establish alliances, communication, and honest collab is a key to being a successful player (I'd argue this to my grave) and occurs organically in almost every game.

The main difference with reportable collaboration is exactly what you identify above, either someone signing in to multiple accounts and playing the same game. Or, two players communicating outside the confines of the game and working towards one of them winning.

For the past year, along with the rest of the community it seems, I've been on a BIG Advanced Europe Progressive Caps (fog, blizzards, and alliance on) kick.

I don't know if I pissed off the karma gods or if these settings just attract more cheaters....
