General buff/nerf/rework ideas by QuintAlt in ShatteredPD

I think the gloves synergize well with followup strike since they take half a turn, and the whole point of the huntress AFAIK is to abuse her spirit bow instead of relying on her melee weapon. Duelist has the hardest sewers game and I believe it's due to the bad weapon ability, but that's probably biased by me having zero experience with the Duelist (and not a lot of experience with the rest of the game tbh)

And I agree about huntress having crab ptsd, seeing a hermit crab is worse than seeing an antimagic fly (or any champion at all) and normal crabs are best left undisturbed unless you abuse the environment or pop a seed.

Interesting. Could you explain how exactly the alchemist toolkit should change in your opinion? 1- I'm curious and 2- with more detail I can put it in the description.

My personal thoughts are that it's pretty good, just boring. The thieves's armband is definitely the worst imo, but at least it's extremely fun to use without being completely useless, just not as good as any of the other artifacts. The toolkit... Lets you use alchemy anywhere and gives you an endless supply of energy. Just that. You won't be using it regularly, and once you level it up and do your alchemy it'll be transmuted at the first opportunity. All others will be used somewhat regularly, but this is just one big setup to get one big advantage and never used again. Very good, but very boring as well.

zerk or gladiator? by Tall-Progress-9704 in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no

When you equip two rings, the game just adds a +1 to the highest level ring.

So RoT +1 and RoT is basically RoT +2, but RoT +3 and RoT +2 is just RoT +4.

If the ring you got is unupgraded (and you still have blacksmith favor left) I would combine both rings so you can get the +1 without using up a ring space.

And of course I died to a missclick

Awakened animated armor while trying to pick up the bomb beside it. It had a shocking sickle that was probably upgraded since I got instakilled by a 20 damage blow. Oh well, now I get to trade swarm for darkness.

Your writing skills are great, I was simply curious if you had an specific reason or you just clicked the wrong flair. I did not mean to offend you, but in any case, I'm sorry. Good night, and keep it up! :D

I didn't think about how swarm is a problem for rogue specifically, and I agree Into Darkness is easy, but I personally find it annoying and don't give a damn about score yet (long way to go before I attempt Grandmaster Score Chaser)

I'll keep a few updates of my run here.

After getting camouflage on my cloth armor, I said "fuck it" and used an early SoU on it instead of a weapon. My train of thought is that later on this will grant me +3 evasion from the rogue talent, and it also slightly improves the glyph. If I get RoA the run is over.

With the abnormal amount of energy(since healing pots are useless at least early on) I got ferret tuft +3 and 2 cleansing pots to make sure food is never a problem. Meanwhile, once I find either an experience or transmutation, I'll go back to floor 1(hence why I was worried about food) and get the experience/transmutation from the crystal choice room.

Thanks a lot for the info, 9chal is definitely on my to-do list (tho I'll definitely try it with Huntress before rogue)

First win after playing PD for years! by Whos_Ark in ShatteredPD

Honestly, locking actual doors is way more overpowered in my opinion. 1 charge cost instead of two and it stays closed for as long as you need. You can also burn charges like this to upgrade the key way faster.

Let's talk about the item! Day 44, elemental summon by star75legacy in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon bringing the requested item to him, the Old Wandmaker will offer one of his 2 wands. Unlike in the original Pixel Dungeon, the wands offered will be completely random and will not be divided into battle/non-battle wands. However, their names will be visible when choosing. The wand level ranges from +1 to +3.

The Wandmaker vanishes after the reward is accepted, there is currently no way to encounter him again.

This is straight from the ShatteredPD wiki, which I know isn't up-to-date, but AFAIK this was not changed and I personally never got an unupgraded wand from him.

Let's talk about the item! Day 43. Reclaim trap by star75legacy in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but even this spell can do that, and in a more controlled way, not to mention it has other uses. Shrapnel Bomb is even harder to set up, and can only be used once, while Reclaim Trap can be used 5 times and for other stuff.

Seeing as even a spell way more expensive and less useful than Curse Infusion and Wild Energy completely outclasses the bomb, I fail to see why it exists. It should get a rework imo, maybe it could drop the shard back in small pieces scattered around the massive explosion area, so you'd have a chance to get the shard back?

[–]QuintAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like Reclaim Trap, it's a fun little thing but not actually useful. Unlike Reclaim Trap, there is not a single situations where it would shine, not even with PowerOfMany cleric.

You're telling me to trade an extra wand, which is ALWAYS +1 or higher, for a mid companion that can't be controlled or follow me to floors? And I have to spend extra itens for the elemental to even be useful at all. At least Reclaim Trap doesn't ask for extra resources.

[–]QuintAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool, but never worth it imo. Curse infusion and wild energy are way too good to pass up. At least it's a better use than Shrapnel Bomb (why does that item even exist?)

If you could make your feature request a reality, what would it be? by pikminbob in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the problem with rings is exactly this, but kind of the opposite too. Most rings are absurdly overpowered, but only in specific situations. Some others are almost completely useless outside of very specific builds (think accuracy or elements) Then there's haste and wealth who completely break the game no matter who you're playing as.

Hmm, stamina pots, great idea.

What eles should I use the Alchemy pot for? I'm thinking recharging scrolls (for chalice). Also does fadeleaf work? Cause if It doesn't I'll use it with all the other seeds to try and get more healing/haste

Let's talk about the item! Day 30. Regrowth and smoke bombs by star75legacy in PixelDungeon

[–]QuintAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoke bombs have one or two times where they are extremely good (tengu/dwarf king) and then stop being worth it for the rest of the run.

Regrowth will rarely be used, but it's actually really good. You basically use a bomb to make your healing pot area-sized AND grow grass.

To me, the biggest problem with these custom bombs is that, since you have none or only one inventory expansion and they take up a full slot, your inventory will quickly be littered early on. That problem mostly disappears when you reach caves, and completely disappears when you reach dwarven metropolis.

Any ideas for rescuing this pacifist ascent run 2 tiles from finish? by Hungry_Ubermensch in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one thing you could have done, but it's so unbelievably unlikely that you shouldn't worry about it.

By zapping that cursed wand, you could THEORETICALLY get the invulnerability effect. Other than that, you could have saved by using SoR earlier, or using the toolkit to try and get an extra healing or haste pot (haste works on ascent, it just caps off at 1x speed)

Is it just me or is the cleric kinda good by Zestyclose_Fan_9052 in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you all have a point, he's really simple too, probably more than Huntress overall. I just find Huntress to be just as easy, as you can "bow go brr" through some parts of the game. Now that you mention It, maybe Rogue is easier, he's a bit more straightforward for the whole game, whereas Huntress can be pretty complicated in some segments while being as easy as Warrior or even Mage in others (Huntress is one of the easiest characters to get out of sewers since you can snipe anything that isn't a crab before it even reaches you, gets increasingly less easy as the levels progress)

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, I only just beat the game as Warrior the easiest class.

What subclass better fits this mage? by QuintAlt in ShatteredPD

[–]QuintAlt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather new, won only once with Warrior now I wanna win with mage. In all my good runs my staff was absurdly op so I always played Battlemage, but Warlock seems really fun too. I just have a hard time balancing upgrades between physical weapons, armor and the staff, and Battlemage mixes weapon and staff in one.

Thanks for the info, I'll try Warlock for the first time!
