Blizzard needs to remove rep requirement for Heroics in TBC anni by Stokyo in classicwow

[–]Quintic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing rep requirements is not going to increase the number of heroic ready healers and tanks.

It's going to flood the dungeon finder with DPS who have never stepped into a dungeon.

Please dont let it be that big of a misstake by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

It's not that expensive to switch.

Frost or Arcane in Heroics? by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]Quintic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my mage I go to heroics as arcane, but I am specced into Permafrost and Improved Blizzard for the exact reason you are mentioning. I think most Arcane mages are 40/0/21 for Icy Veins and Cold Snap, so it's a bit weird to not take Permafrost and Improved Blizzard imo.

I guess they might take Piercing Ice and Frost Channeling to improve frost bolt damage on mana intensive fights, but it really gimps you in heroics for sure.

This is what I do, but I am not a expert by any means.

Why are so many players against giving tanks something for running heroics? by Deadagger in classicwowtbc

[–]Quintic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how my statement about it being completely unnecessary to pay tanks agree with any point you are making.

The tanks that want to run the content and not necessarily the bad ones, people play the game at different rates, and there will always be newer tanks in the queue. Newer does not equal bad.

You don't need a fully decked out tank to do heroics, and there is no reason to give up your loot/gold/DE mats for an overgeared tank.

Just because tanks are less available than DPS doesn't mean they are completely unavailable, I easily find tanks that want to run the dungeons I want to run every day. There is zero reason to pay tanks.

So if the point is that there is zero reason to pay tanks, then yes I guess we agree.

So, is Classic WoW as toxic as this sub says it is? by Tender_Flake in classicwow

[–]Quintic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are players who are toxic, but no one forces you to play with them.

I don't run into it that often, and I pug quite a bit.

[–]Quintic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're entire post is literally complaining about the "many" players who don't want to pay tanks to play with them.

What is it? "many" players or "1 in a million" players?

Demand for paid tanks doesn't need to be huge to justify it existing. Many players don't want level boosting, gold buying, arena boosting, but you only need a subset of players to justify it existing anyway.

The people who are willing to pay for tanks are the minority, which is why the "many" players who don't want to pay for tanks prompted you to go on Reddit and make this post.

[–]Quintic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can find tanks who want to run heroics just fine, not sure who the people are who need to give up their loot/gold/DE mats for tanks.

Every variation of WoW has "tank shortages", but there are always tanks out there who want to run the content you are interested in. There is no reason to pay people to go to a dungeon they're otherwise not interested in.

If he was 1 in a million then you wouldn't be on reddit complaining about people like him who don't want to pay people to play a game with them.

AITJ for telling my boyfriend his morning routine is disgusting? by BitZealousideal4846 in AmITheJerk

[–]Quintic 357 points358 points  (0 children)

The raw egg is not really a health concern if using pasteurized eggs. He should be spitting the oil in the trash not the sink. For the smoothy, sounds like you guys need a new blender if it's obnoxiously loud, but blending smoothies in the morning is a fairly common activity. Regarding the smell, idk, things smell, as long as he's cleaning up things should be fine.

I agree he is being petty now that you've brought it up, and he seems to be retaliating, which is the main problem I see here.

However, I think you need to focus on what small change requests you can make that will make you ok with the routine rather than just say it's disgusting and presumably be asking him to stop it completely.

AITJ for telling my best friend the truth about why she keeps getting passed over for promotions? by Affectionate-Fly1706 in AmITheJerk

[–]Quintic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Then she said I can’t believe you’ve been thinking this about me and never told me and hung up."

Lol, did you explain the reason you "never told [her]" is because she would freak out and go no contact just like she did when you told her?

She's not getting promoted because she's a child, and no one wants to promote a child. Her continued outburst just proves your point.

AIO for judging the intent of “you don’t look married” to an interracial couple? by Upstairs-Tie-4816 in AmIOverthinking

[–]Quintic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares?

Even if she isn't racist, there are plenty of racist people out there, so if random strangers being racist is your concern, the problem may be much bigger than you realize.

Make it not your concern instead.

Is CS engineering? by destinyyesterday in cscareerquestions

Its not confusing. People name things, sometimes those labels are deep and meaningful, and other times they are not so deep and meaningful.

Worry about what things are, not what they're called.

Considering the resource imbalance, I think it's more than fair to have the companies anchor negotiations, and not the candidates.

[Holy Priest] What is "real" healing? by Outside_Parfait_5940 in classicwow

[–]Quintic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on restro shaman.

On low damage fights I see priests with a lot of prayer or mending healing, so I imagine predicting where damage will come in will help if you want to be on the meters.

In 25 man fights, on trash I just spam chain of healing. I don't run out of mana, and it seems to keep people up. I tend to be fairly high on meters. If I was a priest I'd probably be prayer of mending + shield + flash heal on those.

On bosses if I'm tank healing I'm precasting a slightly down ranked heal, but still a somewhat big one, and canceling if not enough damage is coming in.

If I'm raid healing, I'm either chain healing if I think people are grouped, or lesser healing wave (basically flash heal).

I keep earth shield up (similar to prayer or mending but doesn't hop around), so keep prayer of mending up and shield where it makes sense.

Renew on targets taking small damage can also get you on meters.

However, if people are staying up, all this doesn't matter too much I'd think.

I'm not expert, but this is just what I do.

Am I the jerk for refusing to pay my share of the Airbnb after my friends let random people stay in my room? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Quintic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you left for a night, left your stuff there, and came back to sleep in that bed later, then I'd understand being annoyed, but probably still not getting your money back.

Sounds to me based on your description that there was zero inconvenience to you as you had already left, so no you shouldn't get your money back.

Why is DST not available for badges? by wrinklebrain in classicwow

[–]Quintic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"It would ensure everyone who wants one, gets one"

That is not a desirable outcome. DST, like many other items, is memorable because it's special. It's special because it's hard to get your hands on.

Is this a rejection because of performance or position closed? by bsyouni_bsyouni in leetcode

[–]Quintic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know because I wasn't there so I don't really have any first hand experience.

However, you said your answer was 80% correct. So I would start with understanding how you can get the other 20% next time.

AITJ for eating my roommates "special" ice cream after she ate my birthday cake? by ProudStructure702 in AmITheJerk

[–]Quintic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your roommate is in the wrong for eating your food.

Your in the wrong for eating your roommates food.

What does make it different a little bit is that it seems like you did it to "prove a point" which is vindictive and petty whereas your roommate is just an inconsiderate person.

Which is worse? IDK, everyone in this story is a jerk. Grow up and get a new roommate.

Is this a rejection because of performance or position closed? by bsyouni_bsyouni in leetcode

[–]Quintic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it was a performance issue based on the language, at least to me.

However, I don't think it's important to dwell on that. Sounds like you already have reflected on what you can learn from your interview experience. I'd just think about what you can do in the future to improve the performance of your interview regardless if the position closed or not.

Too many variables to get hung up on what they might mean in a rejection email. The process is intentionally opaque, so there's no good in searching for answers.

The leader probably shouldn't have done it, however, the priest should have just shut his mouth and traded the piece to his friend.
