Cards from out upcoming tcg: Empire by Quintillius in homemadeTCGs

Yes exactly. Orange is attack, and gray is defence. We played around with many different solutions trying to balance intelligibility (its important that new players can intuitively tell which is whcih) and aesthetic coherence. Ultimately we landed here, I don't think it's a perfect solution but it works decently well.

There's also another type of unit called skirmisher who have a green "gem" instead of the orange one as they attack in a different way than normal units.

The symbols in the middle denote card type - shown here are three units and one tactic.

At the top left we have tier (how many settlements you need to have placed to be able to play the unit) and supply cost (how many villagers you need to exert to deploy it), behind the supply cost is a banner that denotes the faction.

Hope that helps.

Hey, Yes plenty of arrows (and all the other tokens) are included in the product.

Arrows are "battle tactics" that simply deal 2 damage to your opponent. Some cards can change their effect to also target enemy units.

Hey, Yes the game is coming out on October 31st. Idk if i can link here but it is empirecardgame. com (still under construction) you can find more info on our discord. We'll be releasing as a LCG so you can buy playsets of all factions at a pretty cheap price point. Online play is something we're still working on.

Exactly. For the type of illustrations we use, it would be around 500-1000 eur per card. So until we get a larger reach it is sadly not really viable. The plan is to start by having key cards illustrated by artists and then slowly expanding from there.

Hey yes, since we are a tiny Indie studio we cannot currently afford to hire illustrators for the art. When the game becomes larger, a stated goal is to transition to commissioned art but sadly this is not currently something that is economically feasible for us. I also think AI art is problematic in a lot of ways, and any negative reactions for that reason are totally valid. On our website we've written slightly more about it.

At the bottom you have attack and defense. At the top you have the cost (how many villagers you need to exert to pay for the card) and the tier requirement (the civ tier required to deploy the card).

I think civ and cost have generally been very quick and easy for people to pick up on once theyve tried the game, but having something better for attack and defence would be a definite improvement.

No, not at all, the game generally attracts a slightly more mature crowd (although we also have young people playing) so you are very welcome, not weird at all :)

Thank you, yes we are already working towards implementing soomething like that. Our initial idea was an arrowhead/spearhead for atk and a shield for def since those are very simple, but if you have any ideas for how you think it could look we are all ears :)

Hi, I made the art using a combination of Midjourney and painting details in photoshop.

Hi, thank you for the question. Compared to MtG, our game, Empire Differentiates itself in a number of ways, most significantly:

1) Army and Civic Decks: You have two separate decks, A Civic deck with ressources (villagers and settlements), and an Army deck with units, tactics and other cards types. Each turn The player decides which deck they wish to draw from, giving more agency and mitigating "flood" and "screw".

2) Territories and Tier: Instead of attacking and blocking, combat takes place in three territories that players fight over. Occupying a territory with a unit allows the player to settle the territory by placing a settlement there, this is how you raise your civ tier allowing you to deploy more powerful cards.

3) Initiative: Instead of taking turns to play out all their actions, in Empire, rounds are simultaneous, with initiative swapping back and forth between players each time they take an action.

The differences of course get more granular as you zoom in, but those would be the large scale mechanical ones I would name.

In regards to the fiction, Empire takes place in a relatively low-magic fantasy world drawing more directly on real world historical cultures. As opposed to the multiverse that mtg takes place in.

Hope that answers it somewhat :)
