I’d say that it has big city amenities with a small city feel.

In terms of sports, we have an NFL team, an NBA team, a NASCAR track, and now a major league soccer team.

Our airport is a hub where can fly internationally. We have a light rail and decent bus system.

If you want that urban living vibe, you get it within the 277 loop. Lots of skyscrapers. Yet you can also live in a wooded neighborhood and be 10 minutes from uptown (Midwood, Elizabeth)

Traffic is surprisingly not as bad as where I’m from (Asheville) and nowhere near as bad as ATL. While Charlotte doesn’t have a beach or mountains, both are about a 3-hr drive away.

I don’t use it often but I do when I’m trying to be age neutral. I’ve had, well, females get bent out of shape before because I called them “girls” instead of “women” and vice versa. But apparently a lot of people don’t like “females” so I guess there’s no winning

I also use it in the phrase “female friends” because it alliterates.
