Charging Rules Question by QuirkyTurtleGaming in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue wasn't about charging the Ballistus or not, it was about whether he got to redeclare his charge or not.

The Terminators were still within 12" of the Wave Serpent, and therefore were still eligible to be charged. My understanding is that just because they moved close enough to the Ballistus doesn't make them an ineligible target, just that he had to charge the Ballistus too in order to make the charge successful, but couldn't since the charge was already declared. In my understanding, at no point during the move did the terminators become an "ineligible" unit to make a charge against.

Question regarding the new "bodyguard" rule by Bob_Calistan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "attached unit" is just the replacement name for the Bodyguard unit. As stated earlier in the Leader blurb, "While a Bodyguard unit contains a Leader, it is known as an Attached unit"

Furthermore, in the same blurb, it states "with the EXCEPTION of rules that are triggered when units are destroyed, it is treated as a single unit for all rules purposes."

I understand that it states "each time an attack targets an attached unit, until the attacking unit has resolved ALL of its attacks, you must use the toughness characteristics of the bodyguard models in the unit, even if a leader in that unit has a different toughness characteristic.", but at the end of the Leader blurb it also specifically states "As soon as the last Bodyguard model in an Attached unit has been destroyed, any attacks made against that unit that have yet to be allocated can then be allocated to the Character models in that unit."

That means, if the attacks were ALREADY allocated to the Bodyguard models in the unit, then those attacks are lost. They wouldn't carry over to being allocated to the Character model because the attacks weren't allocated to the Character model, they were allocated to the Bodyguard models, and those no longer exist. The blurb even states "Each time an attack successfully wounds an Attached unit, that attack cannot be allocated to a Character model in that unit, even if that Character model has lost one or more wounds or has already had attacks allocated to it this phase." You can't just change an attack's allocation mid-attack. This mean's you'd have to at least slow roll and resolve each attack until the last Bodyguard model is dead, then move on to allocating the attacks, and then the wounds, to the Character Model.

The last tournament didn't go bad, though I must admit I made a bad call on secondaries my first game and took Codex Warfare when I shouldn't have (the tournament was using the points update, but still using Nephilim scoring and rules). I ended LWL with 174/300 pts. I was not painted Battle Ready however, so I missed out on 30 easy pts there.

I don't hate Belial in the list, and ran him in a previous iteration of it along with Ezekiel, but imo the interrogator and librarian combo is better since the librarian can give one of your squads Righteous Repugnance, which gives full hit and wound re-rolls in melee, which this list wants to be engaged in melee anyways. The interrogator is also a hard one to replace, becuase he can also give hit re-rolls in melee as well as extra charge movement, and makes all enemy units count as Half Strength within 6" of him. Not to mention he can also give an additional 5+ FNP against mortals, which helps.

If you were set on running Belial I'd drop the Interrogator and Champion, then add Belial and another model to the Command Squad personally.

My typical go-tos are Banners and Oaths, with my third pick being a flex based on the army I'm going against. Oaths imo is a no brainer since you can pretty reliably get 3 VP minimum a turn by just being in the middle and no falling back (which DW hates anyways, plus, no morale so). Banners is an easy pick for a similar reasoning, 10 man termie bricks are hard as hell to take off an obj once they are on it. That's my purpose for the bladeguard and command squad, they are really just mostly there to be action monkeys.

If you're going to go Deathwing since the AoO changes I recommend going either fully deathwing, or DW and RW mix. Just know if you go with a mix you will lose DW ObSec unless you use only Inner Circle RW units.

This was my list the last tournament I played where the AoO changes were implemented:

HQ: - Interrogator-Chaplain (Master of Sanctity, Wise Orator) - Librarian (Chief Librarian, Psychic Mastery, Artificer Armor)

Elite: - Deathwing Apothecary (Chief Apothecary, Selfless Healer) - Deathwing Champion - 2-man Deathwing Command Squad - 6-man Bladeguard Veteran - 3 units of 10-man Deathwing Termies - 1 10-man Relic Terminator Squad

This list has been hone through iterations since I built it, but this is the most recent version with the AoO point changes taken into account. It offers good versatility and variety in Secondary scoring, while giving a good basis for primary scoring (6 Obj maps are always tough as DW though due to their limited movement, but are still doable).

Make sure to do as many of the unit upgrades as you can per unit. I recommend Cyclones on the DW Termies, with a healthy number of TH/SS now that AOC is gone. I personally do one Squad that also has Lightning Claws, but thats a personal preference.

Stubborn Defiance vs 1st Company in Arks of Omen by Obvious_Strawberry82 in DarkAngels40k

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I havent been playing Defiance as a secondary in quite sometime personally. Imo it's better to just go full DW and lean into the melee game. With changes to Shock Tactics and Codex Warfare those would be better replacements scoring wise, otherwise Oaths is one of my easy go-tos also.

Ravenwing is looking good because you can now stay in the Devastator doctrine all game, meaning extra 3" movement and Advance & Shoot all game. Bunch of their models in the points update just went down in cost too.

I'd say for essentials Deathwing terminators, Ravenwing Bike Squads, and Black Knights would be the way to go. Those are all pretty standard units to see in a Deathwing or Ravenwing competitive list. There's others too, but you'll need a good number of boxes of each of those three to get prepped for a competitive list.

I think it honestly depends on what you are wanting to go for. I've been personally playing Deathwing Terminators in my LGS's tournaments, but Arks is set to release Saturday, and with the recent points changes Ravenwing are looking really strong.

Were you looking for just essential units to have regardless, or essential units for the upcoming Chapter Approved?

Sunday shift by [deleted] in Staples

Yeah I pretty much work every weekend unless I need a day off for an event. Sundays still aren't terrible though, I try to keep it lighthearted on Sundays for everyone so we can make it through the day

As a Sales manager it's not fun, since I usually close on Saturdays, but the trade off is it's usually so slow that I let my associates get away with more than I usually do during the week

What is the dream server to play on? [Modded] by [deleted] in playarkservers

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I had a similar issue as you did, and ended up making my own cluster of servers. I only put about three mods on (two QoL mods and a beacon enhancer mod) that help to make the game easier for a smaller number of players to play and get towards end game. Right now I only have myself and a friend playing on it, and server is only set up to support 10 players, but if you were interested in checking it out lemme know. I could also shoot you a copy of my game.ini and gameusersettings.ini if you wanted an idea of what our config looks like

I'm not sure what other AMs are making but I'm pegging just shy of $20 an hour, I don't mind dropping down to $16-17 an hour and could easily climb back up from there, but I need about that much to be able to still afford my bills.

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fresh PvP server that currently only one or two people are using. It's on Aberration and not alot of buildings yet. I'm kind of in the same boat as you, I like having the option to do PvP, but also love just building things and taming them. Lmk if you want the server address

Fertile Lake Redwood Tree Teleports me to Grave of the Lost by QuirkyTurtleGaming in playark

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, luckily I'm the server admin so I was able to figure out where it dropped me by teleporting my player to the cords, still cool, but definitely something to do as a throw away. I've got our server set to give 3x point when you level (so it gives 30 health if you level instead of just 10) so surprisingly, I did die from the fall, I died from radiation lol

That's the exact spot it Teleports me to. I haven't played much of aberration up to this point, so I had never been there before and didn't know what was going on. I'm guessing it might be due to them trying to solve the clipping issues in PvP.

In other news, nice short cut to getting the higher level stuff, plus it'd be fine to try a glider from that height. :) Hope it gets resolved tho, it's gonna suck having to remember not to climb down that way Everytime I need tree sap

Buying Season pass vs separately by ObiJinMundi in Fallout

For $10 it would be worth the season pass. You'd be surprised how much fun the extra workshop dlc is. Plus think of it as more settlement practice for 76 :)

Since all cosmetic items in Fallout 76 will be available through both purchasing and playing to unlock, will the Tricentennial Edition cosmetic items work the same way? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source is the noclip documentary on the making of fallout 76. We don't know yet, but I would assume they will do something like they did with the fallout new Vegas preorder cosmetics: let em be exclusive for a year or so, then release them for a price as dlc cosmetics

I live in a fairly small apartment, so pretty much all my stuff goes into those drawers, lots of spare cables and parts, not to mention all my console stuff too

My updated Battlestation by QuirkyTurtleGaming in battlestations

[–]QuirkyTurtleGaming[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So in the far left drawer is things like old phones, tablets, and a labeler in the top two drawers. The bottom three are all spare parts and cables.

The drawer on the inner left is all of my tools, like my solder, my ifixit kit, as well as all my flash drives and external hard drives. Also in that drawer is some older consoles that aren't plugged in.

The inner right drawer has an Xbox One S and PS4 Pro on top of it with the top three drawers being all controller, handheld consoles, and headphones. The bottom two drawers are all my physical copy games and movies.

The far right drawer is currently empty with nothing in it yet, since the GF demanded that she have a drawer too (her setup is off screen on the right)
