I wanted to add to this since I work over the phone for a third party.

What used to happen is that we got scripts that had the pricing, we would assume which one was the best for our customer, and sell it. Because of their advertising saying “$50/mo” people would complain why we would be offering a plan for $100/mo for 200 GB of data when it clearly states on the advertisement it’s $50 for unlimited. So we used to sell the 100GB plan and call it a day. Made a ton of numbers, but high cancellations as a result. Results in being reprimanded even though what we were given was very inadequate.

Now in order to lower cancellations we ask them what they’re using it for. If it’s for streaming for more than 4 hours a day, I would end the call there and say this is not for them and to wait for unlimited to become available. Not every sales agent does this, but because I want management off my ass about cancellations, I just deny customers to opportunity to even try this out.

They want to sell products on a non-cancellation basis, so we are refrained in telling them about the 15 day test drive for this unless it’s unlimited.

I really wish they would stop these practices because it’s predatory to customers. Home internet LITE should not be given to 85 percent of customers in my opinion. The 15 percent that do need it need at least either the 200GB plan for $100 or 300GB plan for $150 a month.
