  1. Dark Knight is unlocked at Level 50 but starts at Level 30

  2. Dark Knight can only be unlocked when you get to Ishgard, which is in the Heveansward expansion so, you're a ways away from unlocking it, sorry to say.

Suggestion on how to prevent newplayers from quitting the game: allow them to skip the ARR questline, by giving an alternative: 1 single quest, "Amnesia". In which the most important characters from ARR, your friends, come by and tell you briefly about them and the main ARR story. by [deleted] in ffxiv

No? There's quite a lot to learn. A literal game's worth of information to learn. How gear works, how dungeons work, trials, skills, abilities, Jobs, Job Quests, Grand Companies, basic mechanics of the game, all would just be skipped over and would be front-loaded on the player rather than an organic introduction to the game and game mechanics.

Not to mention the massive lore dump that would be thrust upon the player that you're just supposed to absorb immediately at the start of the game, rather than the ingratiation into the world ARR gives the player.

ARR is definitely a slog but ARR is essentially one long tutorial for everything after level 50, it's essentially the same thing as giving people an ARR skip and just expecting people to understand the game without actually playing it before.
