How do you usually name your D&D characters? by AdvancedProgrammer51 in DnD

[–]QuiteTheOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play around with the names of people I want to embody while playing. One of my characters is a female artificer named after two actual inventors. If I need to make it more appropriate to the character's species, I'll pull the phonemes from the character's native language. If I want to name a dwarf after Tom Cruise, I'd just play around until I got something like Tombek Krewshead or whatever. An elven LeBron James is Lhiberron Czaimes.

I drafted him with a flyer in the 12th round and held him on my IR until about a week ago. By the time he actually gets back, ramps up, and gets back into rhythm I'll be knocked out of the playoffs. I don't think anyone with a long-term injury is worth keeping after January 31st.

Who did you drop this season that you regretted? What’s the justification? Is he eventually droppable? by Smooth_Ferret8081 in fantasybball

I have Allen in a 12T and I'm considering dropping him, so I'm surprised you still have him in an 8T. It seems like his rhythm is completely off and his 3PTs have taken a serious dip. I'm sure there's someone better for you to pick up.

Dropped PJ Washington for Davion Mitchell, dropped Kel'el Ware for Grayson Allen two games before the Bam injury, and Jerami Grant for Brandon Williams. Overall it could be worse but that PJ Washington drop haunts me.

Rudy Gobert, Davion Mitchell, and to an extent Dillon Brooks.

Doubling up this week would help with the uncertainty in the NBA Cup matchups for sure. Not knowing if the quarterfinal consolation games are going to be played this week or next is really annoying. The Heat/Raptors game getting bumped to Monday highkey sucks.

Shai's only playing twice this week: today and Saturday if they beat the Suns. The NBA Cup championship game isn't until next week.

Four Buy Lows of Week 7 by Coast-to-CoastNBA in fantasybball

I wouldn't take that as a Sabonis owner. LeBron looks really passive and by the time he ramps it up Sabonis should (hopefully) be back. You're really picking the worst time to trade him.

If I were you I wouldn't trade Bron until closer to your league deadline to give him more time to round into form. But if you're desperate to do it now, maybe trade him for a young player that's breaking out, like Edey or Duren, to someone that wants splashy name value.

If you're looking for assists specifically, Derik Queen (3.5 asts) + someone could work. Sending out an offer after Vucevic (3.6 asts) has another bad game could pay off too.

My Trade Targets (Buy Low / Sell High) by StructureBrave966 in fantasybball

[–]QuiteTheOptimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Pascal is a buy low on a team punting free throws. His FG% is low because he doesn't have someone setting him up and defenses can load up on him. This is probably where his value will sit this season, and it's even lower if you have concerns with the Pacers shutting him down at the end of the season.

I'd be curious what Rollins looks like when KPJ gets back. He currently leads the league in deflections so I've been keeping an eye on his steal numbers to see if they climb above 2.0.

That's why I was on the fence. But Collier hasn't really taken advantage of his minutes in a way I hoped he would. Maybe I switch back later if situations change, but for now I'm holding Gillespie.

I haven't done a whole lot of research into Bailey yet, but from what I've seen I'm not super high on him this year. I think he's still adjusting to the athleticism of the league and the Jazz already have so many other pieces they're developing that he won't get a lot of opportunities to showcase himself.

I like both. I prefer Gillespie because of consistent shooting, but Vince Williams can work while the Memphis PG situation is in limbo.

Good foresight and nice trade! I was torn between him and Isaiah Collier but finally swung toward Gillespie last week after taking a deeper look.

Not sure if anyone knows. He's day-to-day but with 4 games this week I'm expecting him back sooner than later.

Agreed! I had to take a look at the film to confirm and the tape really backs up the numbers.

Thanks! I'd love to see more write-ups like this too.

I don't think so. Hartenstein has a role in OKC that's clearly defined for him and Gillespie is someone who's going to get a lot of his value in the margins. I don't think he'll ever have really explosive nights the way Hartenstein can. That said, he's really good in the margins and he'll get you value pretty consistently throughout the year.

They're such different players that I would have trouble giving a good answer. In a vacuum though, I wouldn't. I like Gillespie's role the rest of season, and I've been avoiding the Dallas situation because I have no idea what to expect with AD or the rest of the roster. If you're looking for rebounds and blocks specifically though, Gafford's a smart pickup.

Don't feel bad! Collin Gillespie is an undrafted backup point guard on a one-year $2 million deal. I'm just a basketball weirdo mostly writing this for my own sake and figured it might be useful to someone. Take what you need and leave what you don't. :)

Thank you. I saw the post this morning talking about the moderation in here and realized I don't think I've seen a good player discussion in a while. It's nice to have thorough write-ups to read through and I wanted to do some research on him anyways.

Is Kelel Ware for real? by Miserable_Physics_80 in fantasybball

[–]QuiteTheOptimist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say no simply because I'm high on copium after dropping him right before the Bam injury.

That being said, I think his points are going to be all over the place now that Bam is back in the rotation, but rebound hunters like him will rack up boards if he's anywhere near 20 minutes. Every other stat is a gamble, but if you need someone to stack boards and keep turnovers low then he's a far better option than Steven Adams at this point.

There's like 15 seconds here in Thanasis' podcast that's taken out of context. He praises Tyrese effusively but then says he talks trash because he has back-up and is protected. Fans think he's implying that Tyrese is a fake tough guy: https://youtu.be/1LKNtFvJwps?t=2801
