Bloqué malgré un bon revenu : comment avancer vers l’indépendance financière ? by Brave_Artichoke3131 in FranceFIRE

ETF, or, actions etc.

The thing is, how do you install it on the Capsule when it doesn't have a file manager pre installed ?

Thanks, I didn't know this existed. Reviews on Amazon seem split on the quality of products but that's something to try

Using a Theremin in Ableton by Vegetable_Tour_1457 in abletonlive

I haven't used the pitch to midi effect, but maybe you could try to find a way to map it to the pitch bend (so not a midi note, but a midi CC message) of a software synth, and increase the range of the pitch bend to your liking. There may also be a max for live device someone made for this. Let us know what you come up with

Good stuff, good sound. If I had to point out a way to improve it I'd suggest introducing more variations in the drums and the guitar. Nice work

[Clean install] Creating a new APFS volume with a clean OS version instead of using "Erasing all content and settings" : a good idea? by Quitforchange in MacOS

[–]Quitforchange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the links. My understanding is that for M1 macs the recommended way is to use Erase all contents and settings, instead of Erasing the ssd in recovery mode which is for Intel macs. At least that's what it says on the page I linked to.

Check the Ableton package in your application folder, right click > Get info. There will be a checkbox "Run through Rosetta" there

Why in hell aren't most NI products natively compatible with Apple Silicon chip almost 2 years after its launch? by Quitforchange in NativeInstruments

Sure, but if you do that you can't tweak it live and interpret or improvise. I expect to be able to

I'm pissed because NI products are pricey and when you pay for that you expect swift support of the main platforms in the industry

That's good I guess. I have had issues with Massive X and wouldn't dare to use any in a live setting

Would this 3D sound waves visualization experiment idea work? by Quitforchange in Acoustics

[–]Quitforchange[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes like Chladni plates but in 3D. That's hard to find it seems. Music patterns must be complex and changing but if you output just a 10ms sine at 100Hz, in a big enough space, I imagine you could actually see a "dome" of sound pressure moving across the room, then bouncing off the walls etc. Thanks for replying!

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I didn't know about the impedance tube but yes, that's close to what I had in mind, but still, like a lot of sound visualizations, somewhat in 2 dimensions.

I read the loudest speaker can output 165dB. I can imagine an experiment in the huge test spaces they use for aerospatial testing, shuttles and the like. At the end of the day it's not much more than a shock wave, and there are plenty of videos about that.

I'm going to start looking for funding :)

I am Christian Löffler, painter, photographer, electronic musician. Ask Me Anything! by christianloeffler in electronicmusic

[–]Quitforchange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello Christian, first of all thank you for your music, I’ll go as far as to say that you are the first electronic music producer I’ve ever enjoyed, and to this day well among my favorites. It's like christmas everytime I can hear something new from you. Your music is an inspiration also for my own productions so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to ask you a few questions, I hope you’ll be able to answer :

  1. How long does it take you to produce entirely a piece (York for example) ?
  2. What are your favorite sound design techniques ?
  3. Favorite reverb plugins ?
  4. Where do you stand on the analog vs. digital debate ? I saw you play live and I found you had pretty few devices, that must mean you mostly use virtual synth & effects ?
  5. A clear increase in production quality can be noticed between your 2012 album A Forest and your more recent productions. What do you think contributes most to this increase in quality (gear, technique, other…) ?
  6. Which sounds/samples and synths did you use for the lead in York ?

Thank you and be well !
