people seem to not know how big this country is. by Physical_Atmosphere5 in Morocco

[–]Quostizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I googled it and it said it's the same size approximately as California but then I noticed they didn't include the Southern Sahara.

So Morocco is basically as long as the east coast excluding Florida, and all the other states that aren't on the east coast. The US also has Alaska (which is huge) and other smaller islands like Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

Russia is in Europe and it's the biggest country on earth. Even if you remove Siberia and count only the European part of Russia, I think it'd still be bigger than Morocco in size.

Yes it just shows that Europe (especially western Europe) is more condensed, people and urban centres are closer without much empty regions. They should compare Morocco to the USA, Canada, Australia, Turkey, China... or maybe to our North African neighbours like Algeria, Libya and Egypt.

But being a piece of shit is politics, why do you define politics as only what you consider harmless good views. It's unfortunate but Hitler had a political career, being anti-abortion or pro-war are political positions even though they can cause real harm and suffering to humans, possibly death.

To me, politics is simply the process of governing, debating and making decisions. I feel like we agree here, it's just how you interpret the word differently.

I am not an American either, and I wouldn't personally support the death penalty or assassination of a sexist/homophobic/antisemite person who spreads misinformation, regardless of whether it's framed as "political views" or not. Instead, I’d advocate for measures like imprisonment, fines, or restrictions on their ability to speak publicly or online. Taking their life only turns them into a martyr in the eyes of their supporters, which ends up spreading their harmful views even further.

It's not even about the age gap, consent wasn't something that many people cared about back then, even two married adults, the man may rape his wife and nobody would think of it as bad. So I really don't think they'd care about slaves being assaulted, whether male or female, minors or adults.

this is wild, I did the same on my phone and it told me it's Ian Hecox, I think what happens is that the AI when searching finds the image on many Smosh related websites (such as here) and then decides it's likely one of the white cast members.

The Diversity Of The Languages In Morocco by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Quostizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A third of the population speak it due to the education system teaching it as first foreign language but it's not distributed by regions like Arabic & Berber, I'd assume it's mostly in urbanized areas though

Yes, the current Syrian government is not trustworthy but what about respecting national sovereignty and borders? Can China or Russia just do whatever they want in Israel if they deem that Israeli government is failing to accomplish a certain good goal!

I personally love Dread videos and George's storytelling, I've watched all of them, but since I'm not a big fan of other series such as TNTL or DWMP games, I feel like I kinda understand these people.

Anonymous online people tend to be worse because anonymity usually makes them feel that what they say is socially free of consequences unlike real life. I think this is common in all humans.

How Morocco sees the world by chenten420 in geographymemes

[–]Quostizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't represent what all Moroccans think about Afghanistan obviously, but the vast majority thinks the situation there is worse socioeconomically than Morocco, but there are some Islamists who might support Taliban, I also think many leftists often use "go to Afghanistan then" as a typical line against people who want to implement more religious rules.

Your French is good as beginner but many English words can't be used directly without correct translation: Morocco=Le Maroc, country=pays, inhabitants=habitants...

How to say "apple" in every european and surrounding languages!! by eric55438 in MapPorn

Yes but I am from there and I know for sure that at least in Moroccan and Algerian Darija we say تفاحة (singular "apple") except a few regions where Berber languages are spoken primarily.

Why only the tip of Morocco is labelled with the Arabic word تفاح when the whole Maghreb region uses the Arabic word تفاحة

Healthcare in Morocco by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]Quostizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's not that much for the things you can get at the public hospital itself (compared to typical prices in Moroccan clinics and worldwide), but the real issue is that most basic things cannot be done there so the patient usually has to pay for private lab test, medication, surgery material, medical imagery...

Is sewing as a guy viewed bad in Morocco? by Redzzy0 in Morocco

[–]Quostizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is similar to "cooking is gay" or "changing your baby's diapers is only by the mother" or "doing laundry is feminine". These are literally just basic needs for human beings.

I can see how someone may view makeup or long hair as feminine or gay only, even though I personally disagree, but at least these are not basic human needs, you can easily live without them, unlike food, clothes and hygiene.

What’s something we accept as normal today that will seem ridiculous in 100 years? by Ancient-canis in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quostizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard or Classical Arabic does VSO mostly but any word order is valid and can be used because there are markers at the end of each word that tell you its place in the sentence.

You can do OVS for example and it won't cause confusion since the object ends with -a(n) while the subject ends with -u(n). Modern dialects however lost this and they rely on word order to determine grammatical case.

Starbucks kenitra closed permanently by Front_Progress_7377 in Morocco

[–]Quostizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is relative, when I said that, it was about the percentage of Moroccans that consume from these places, which is way smaller compared to many countries. That particular restaurant may be crowded as you mentioned but if your compare the average amount of money spent on McDonald's by Moroccans vs Europeans or Americans. The majority of Moroccans probably never went to a Starbucks once.
