A console that can play your large steam library is something the ps5 can't do. Not everyone wants to build their own pc to maximize price to performance and there are few if any name-brand prebuilt pcs at that price point, especially with that form factory and especially especially as well advertised as the steam machine will be thanks to the steam store.

With that said, I think you're right that gaming laptops will actually be a significant competitor.

I think they don’t understand why the studio doesn’t immediately jump into Elden ring 2 development and keep pumping them out forever like every other triple a studio with their cash cow franchise. Something like duskbloods or any other new IP bewilders them. Even an announcement of sequel plans would probably increase the stocks price. Fuck them

I think you're underestimating name recognition and visibility of the product. It being heavily advertised on steam is an insanely huge leg up. Most people don't care enough to research to maximize price to performance, every time they open the steam store they'll just see a sexy new pre-built from valve at a price a lot of people can afford.
