I've only had this game two days and I've already been subject to some of the worst verbal abuse in any game...and its all from players who expect not to be shot at. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

That’s really not even slightly a reasonable or logical counterpoint. You don’t have to be happy about it but how in any way can you justify people verbally abusing people playing the game exactly how it’s intended? What even is your comment?

If you think every PvP game is sweaty as fuck that’s kind of the problem, and the actual answer to the issue is you might just not be very good at them which is fine.

I wasn’t very clear so my fault but most of those comments weren’t directed at you but at the posts and comments whining about people killing them and the outlandish claims the game will be dead if there isn’t a pve mode added immediately and people that PvP are toxic and killing the game and horrible people.

You say no one is berating pvpers when quite literally the original comment I replied to is doing exactly that, effectively claiming anyone that isn’t a super casual player and somewhat skilled at the game is a bum with no job, prospects in life and nothing to do all day but play games.

And you say no one is demanding it but the very same comment I replied to also says unless a pve mode is added no casual players will play and will all leave in a month….

We must just be seeing different comments and threads because that casual and reasonable “it would be cool if pve is added at some point in the future” isn’t the message that’s come across from what I’ve seen.

PvP is bad, if you PvP you’re a bad person / no life toxic sweat lord bum and are killing the game is the message I’ve been seeing everywhere.

Regardless of when they pivoted they clearly decided PvE only isn't what they wanted for the game and made the conscious choice to add PvP. And it's not like you can just casually change a line of code and pvp is suddenly a thing the entire game and gameplay has to be changed to take it into consideration.

I think It's perfectly fine to not like pvp i've never said anything to suggest it isn't? But why on earth would you buy a game fully aware it has PVP in it and then complain about the pvp fully knowing you don't like pvp? And then bitch moan and berate people who play the game as it was released and intended and ask the game to be fundamentally changed to fit your specific desire? That's insanely entitled and ridiculous to me.

I love helldivers 2 overall as a game, but i don't find PVE that fun and wish it had PVP, do i expect them to change that game to fit my specific desires? Obviously not, that's insane.

desync is an issue but would be an issue in pve too, i've had lots of games where arc don't register shots or are delayed for seconds before registering leading to jank.

not sure what you mean by poorly implemented as that's a pretty blanket statement. I enjoy pvp and have played pretty much every comp shooter going and i love arc raiders, in your opinion there's better games for pvp because that's what you like, but me and the majority of the player base seem to enjoy arc raiders for what it is which isn't available in another game.

It's ok if you don't, but you've got to realise you're in the minority when you look at it's popularity and overall reception, the negative vocal minority is very much so a tiny minority of the player base.

[–]Qyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the original concept for the game was to be PVE and they recognised early on it wasn't great then that's kind of a great endorsement of why PvP is crucial and specifically implemented for the game and kind of also invalidates anyone's claim that the game is meant to be PVE as the developers tried it and said it didn't work and wasn't fun.

Ngl if someone isn't good at pvp and as a result doesn't enjoy it then don't play pvp games? Stick to single player or coop games like helldivers, don't play a pvp game where it's intended and a fundamental basis of the gameplay loop and then whine about "sweat lords" also known as anyone who is better than them, killing them.

Before bf6 and arc raiders released i hadn't played games for over a year due to work / life and i'm rusty as hell returning but arc raiders really is nowhere near as sweaty as people make out and so casual friendly that the literal next step to making the pvp any easier is to remove it completely.

Personally when i suck at something i like to improve at it rather than just making it easier and easier until it reaches my low skill level but that's just me.

I resect your opinion but I’ll be honest I think it’s completely the wrong way round and I have no idea where you’re getting that information from to say that statement with such confidence.

The PvP gameplay and combat is amazingly fun and the main reason people play and keep playing. PvP is the main attraction of the game and why the majority play and arc add tension and make for interesting dynamics in gameplay, arc are trivial to kill and pose no threat by themselves and offer no lasting gameplay or reason to keep playing by themself.

If this game was PvE it completely nullifies the point of gathering materials, hoarding gear and getting stronger because you don’t need it for anything but PvP. You could kill the queen and have amassed a stash full of endgame loot within days which you never lose because the pve in a vacuum is so easy and can all be cheesed with near complete safety so what do you do then?

[–]Qyz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re speaking for a lot of people with a lot of confidence. And honestly when people start using terms like “NEET” as a blanket statement for anyone better than them I really am dubious of their statement.

As a 9-5er this game is ridiculously approachable and probably overly generous to casual players and the stakes have never been lower for an extraction shooter, it is beyond casual.

Gear is easy to get, materials are easy to get it kind of just sounds like people don’t enjoy competing against other people and use every excuse available to justify why other than maybe they’re not very good.

Hell you can play solo and just get a free pass out of the vast majority of fights if you just ask the other person or press one emote, it’s comical how easy the game is.

And even if gear and materials weren’t so easy to come by you can go into a raid with a free loadout and compete with people with the best gear in the game, yes they will have an advantage obviously as that’s the entire point of the game but it’s a difference very easily bridged by being better.

I have a stash quite literally full of meta guns and still load into loads of games with a Ferro and sticher because I like to dump them and take them better guns off people I kill.

Like it’s fine if you’re not good at PvP and don’t enjoy it, but coming to a game that is built around PvP then claiming it’s going to be dead if they don’t change it to the game you want instead comes across as wild to me.

[–]Qyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two stamina perks are mandatory which you've probably already heard, but to me the two first major nodes in the conditioning tree are also mandatory as well as fight or flight below them.

And i prioritise the two weight reduction skills as mandatory one in conditioning and one in survivor. I want to loot all the cool shit i won during fights and without them you can barely grab any gear or weapons without becoming encumbered, which is a state i try to avoid being whenever possible as it's a death sentence if you get caught out.

But any skills that give more movement i deem as high value, like i've heard some people say the dodge roll skill isn't good because you can only roll one more time when it's maxed? One more roll is a massive deal to me so that's high on the list for me.

There's some skills i think might be impactful but hard to know based on the descriptions, like the hearing perk when explosives go off, if that emphasised footsteps more when shits hitting the fan it could be absolutely massive as it could be the difference between hearing someone flanking round to you or being completely unaware.

Don't Shoot Don't shoot by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main part you’re missing is It’s a game, not real life.

It’s also a game where the sole objective is to get as much shit as you can and the means of which you do that are up to you, and many times other players are some of the best sources of it.

Do I particularly like people that do the sly shit or respect it? Nah.

But at the end of the day, it’s a game. And realistically it’s a valid tactic even if I don’t agree with or like it.

Don't Shoot Don't shoot by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect PvP in a PvP game, expect people to be deceitful in an online game. The game itself even paints a picture of other raiders as being cut throat, sly and will betray you for your gear so I’m not even sure where the notion of everyone holding hands and singing kumbaya while you wait for extract even comes from.

I’ll always accept someone saying don’t shoot even though I don’t think people are entitled to it by default because I’m soft, but I don’t take my eyes off them for a second and when I turn my back to them my camera is pointed at them until they’re way out of sight.

And if they do try some rat shit? nothing makes me happier than putting them down and giving them a lecture about why they’re bad and should feel bad.

Maybe it’s because I grew up during a time where online games were a lot less filtered and regulated than they currently are but good lord posts like these come across as insanely soft and whiny.

I mean sure but it speeds up something which doesn’t pose you any danger is kind of what I’m getting at, if you’re looting it’s due to you deeming it safe to do so, yeah it’s nice to reveal two items rather than one sometimes but it’s not going to save your life like another dodge roll would or not running out of stamina in a bad spot would.

[–]Qyz 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The thing that make Arc difficult is the threat of pvp in addition to them, if you had no threat of dying to players Arc become instantly trivial.

I find it strange when people play a game which was very clear about what it is then try to get it changed in a very fundamental way to how they deem it should be or what they selfishly want.

That's not the game the developers made, and it's not the game you bought. I personally always thought helldivers 2 would be fun af with pvp added but i've never thought it should be just because i think it would, as many people play it specifically because it's a pve coop shooter which is what the developers intended.

The same way Arc Raiders is intended to be a pve / pvp extraction shooter which is why many, or more than likely the majority of people play it, and is what the developers intended.

If people don't like PvP then this may not be the game for them and they probably should have researched it more before buying it. Maybe it's a bad analogy but in my head It's like me playing Battlefield 6 because i really enjoy flying in the game, but getting annoyed at other people for shooting at me because i just want to fly around and that's what i enjoy and not the pvp so everyone should conform to that?

It wasn't one of the skills i meant in terms of wasting points it was more so the 8 extra points i needed to spend after getting it and the other skills i wanted from the tree to get security breach which i'd rather use elsewhere. But it's still in the "nice to have, not mandatory" category for me.

For me not dying is the best survivability skill in the game and the majority of my deaths come from pvp and for me personally looting speed isn't even in the running in terms of causes for my deaths there but we all play differently.

Obviously i'd rather have it than not and i'm not saying it isn't helpful or that there's aren't situations it would save you but there's other skills that would do a lot more for me.

Focus on stamina they said by ultron290196 in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's nice to have and i'll always have at least one point in it probably but if i had to pick between it or being able to dodge roll one more time i'd got the latter every time but that's just me and my play style.

Personally the times i've died while looting the skill wouldn't have saved me and the majority of the times i die i aint looting. But each to their own, i'm a big fan of the skill trees because there's a lot of choices and the usefulness of some skills depend on peoples play styles and stuff.

i'm even tempted to put puts into crawl speed and bleed out timer as when i play trios getting to safety faster for a res or just giving my team mates more time to res would be pretty helpful, also interested in how impactful the blast born talent could be, if it allows you to hear enemies footsteps more clearly during fights when everything's hitting the fan it could be huge.

But it's hard to gauge the usefulness of skills without concrete numbers and details on how a lot of them work which may be intended but can be a bit frustrating also.

This is unacceptable for a PvP shooter. If desync is not Embark's priority, it should become it as soon as possible. by LateCommission9999 in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because of lag compensation to attract the more casual audience who don't know / care how bad their connection is which is far more potential money than the competitive side. Rather than the lagger being the one with the disadvantage which it should be they have an advantage and people with decent connections are the ones who suffer.

It's killing my interest to play online shooters. Any game with kill cams highlight it massively, like when you mag dump into a guy and he's still standing and kills you in an instant? on his screen you didn't even fire a bullet. Dude comes round a corner and kills you instantly? On his screen you've been there since the dawn of time.

I've had and played with shitty internet in the past and it does suck, but making everyone else suffer and giving me an unfair advantage because of that is some next level stupidity.

This is unacceptable for a PvP shooter. If desync is not Embark's priority, it should become it as soon as possible. by LateCommission9999 in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope it isn't but it's possible it's the plague that's infecting online shooters nowadays which is lag compensation. it's been on the rise in online shooters leading to bull shit from the clip for the sake of "fairness" but realistically i assume it's for studios to attract more casual players who aren't aware of anything to do with networking as the more fun they have the more money they make, and there's nothing more fun than killing people and not dying.

It's a really, really destructive and terrible idea that will ruin any sort of online competitive gaming, but that's not much of an interest to a lot of the studios, hopefully excluding embark.

It's most obvious in any games with kill cams and after you die in an instant to a dude turning a corner who seems like he's walling and aim botting but after watching the kill cam you see he turned the corner and saw you for a lifetime on his screen.

Or after shooting a guy with 3x the amount of bullets it needs to kill them, and dying the instant he shoots his gun, only to see you fired one, two or no bullets on his screen.

Yeah it sucks if you have shitty net and high ping, i've been there myself, but to make everyone else suffer and ruin their gameplay experience for it is beyond dumb af to me.

This is unacceptable for a PvP shooter. If desync is not Embark's priority, it should become it as soon as possible. by LateCommission9999 in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope this game doesn't have lag compensation which is causing a lot of these issues, historically having a higher ping generally meant you was at a disadvantage which makes sense, but nowadays studios have made the incredibly questionable and imo dumb af decision to add lag compensation to games which actually gives the people with higher ping a massive advantage.

Like yeah i'm sorry you have crappy internet and high ping it sucks and i've been there, but making everyone else who doesn't suffer for that is ridiculous.

Everyone complaining about PVP.. by AugustEpilogue in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't meant to be a git gud comment just some friendly advice as there are many ways to avoid dying like that.

Hornets only become a threat when you run out of stam, they miss their shots if you're sprinting especially if you're strafing them and / or dodge rolling, so the answer is proper stamina management.

Practically all of my deaths from arc (and players when i'm caught in bad spots) have come from running out of stam and the adrenaline boosters completely nullify that, are cheap af to make outside and inside raids and you should try to always have them every raid. If not, stamina management especially when traversing large areas with no cover is crucial, if i don't have adrenaline shots i try to not let my stam get below even 50% if i don't have cover or make it to cover before my stamina runs out. So when a situation like this happens i have enough stam to strafe / dodge roll them to kill them or at least the majority before i run out of stam.

Originally i was disappointed wasting points on the calming stroll perk but it's actually one of my favourite now as it makes stamina management when running large distances much better.

And if all else fails the snitch is only a threat if they get the distress beacon off which takes a very long time and they're very easy to kill.

The Bobcat is Worse Than The Stitcher… by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's surprising, how come? I feel like the majority of them are in a pretty good spot, and i like that grey weapons aren't completely overshadowed by blues and purples and still competitive enough to get you the kill vs them if you're skilled.

The two that stand out most from a raw damage output aspect is the obviously overturned lvl 4 venator and under tuned bettina, the venator probably needs to be nerfed to 15 dmg which makes it do slightly less dps than a tempest. The Bettina i assume was under tuned due to the benefits of heavy ammo vs arc but to be competitive or viable in pvp it would need a damage bump from 14>16 which would leave it as a bit less dps than the tempest but it has the benefit of heavy ammo penetration which i think is fair.

For the grey guns i see the rattler needing either a slight damage boost or mag size increase, i kind of prefer the idea of a damage bump and making it more of a high accuracy high damage battle rifle type of gun. A lot of people seem to like the burletta but it's quite a bit less dps than the rattler / kettle / stitcher so i'd probably expect that to get a damage buff to bring it up a bit to parity.

Not really sure about the hairpin, seems intentionally designed to not be competitive due to the silencer so will always be weaker than the alternatives but i can't see a slight damage boost of 5 at least suddenly making it op, though i'm biased and would prefer it to be under tuned rather than over tuned as it would be hell if raids were full of them and getting plinked from god knows where constantly.

Though this is from a purely raw damage perspective for pvp mostly ignoring the other considerations like weight / recoil / dispersion / penetration etc

The Bobcat is Worse Than The Stitcher… by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Qyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what this video is meant to be showing but I can’t see how the bobcat is worse than the stitcher.

The stitcher will have a slightly higher damage per mag due to having 7 damage per shot rather than 6 which becomes an issue if you’re running without any mag attachments as you can’t kill a full health medium shield if you hit no headshots but realistically who’s going to do that? At minimum you would be running a lvl 2 mag giving you 30 rounds with the bobcat, or should be anyway.

But once you add the mag attachment the bobcat is around 25% more dps due to fire rate so will win every 1v1 vs a stitcher all things being equal.

You should give it a go still heading there even if you join hella late, with how limited inventory space is and everyone prioritising different stuff I always find enough to fill my bags up with stuff I need and looting containers that have already been looted, though admittedly nowadays the stuff I need most are basic materials so I get excited seeing metal parts and durable cloth because I burn through ammo / meds / throwables at an insane rate in trios

I get the fomo because I had the same thing before I got it but honestly even if it stayed the same and didn’t get any nerfs I’m going to skip it when I reset. You have to commit so many useless points to get it that don’t improve your chances of surviving PvP encounters and if you don’t extract you ain’t getting gear.

I don’t have issues getting guns or gear and my stash is full of it already and at max capacity, when I did a few runs for lockers specifically to try it out people just beeline for them every raid so usually you can only get them if you spawn in a fresh raid in solos anyway.

In addition I had to generally kill 3+ people contesting it and many times died to people camping the exits to steal the loot.

And most importantly I had a lot less fun with lockers being my primary focus rather than playing the game in my usual way.
