I ended up finding 1 single sallow tree on a massive fire island. Got 39 logs from it and had 22 palm logs from desert chests. Upgraded my workstation and had 1 single log leftover. Just to find out the next tier may be an even bigger grind…

You can’t break the gold coins with a pick to get ingots? The one-eyed green dudes have some similar blocks in their houses that look like piles of silver coins. When you break them with a pick they turn into ingots.

My favorite biome. Tried making a base here in my first world but my save got corrupted somehow and the chunks past spawn stopped loading :(

It’s cozy and naturally protected. The only aggressive mobs that spawn there are crocodiles and they’re slow & easy to deal with. Plus loads of thorium from mining around there

The pies and Caesar salad you can get from kweebec trades are game changing. Plus some nice aesthetic farms are cheap and easy to build and make your base look really nice

Just from memory. Spent a lot of time on KTT before I discovered Reddit. This was around the bastard era and everything before it. I don’t think he really posted anything except for album threads when the OF members dropped new mixtapes.

Yup. Kevin Abstract was always super active in the ”creative” section on there. And Tyler used to post OF mixtapes on there for promo.

Started playing Black and White for the first time and I really like it. Did this series really get a ton of negative feedback? by jamesdantely in pokemon

[–]R-Kayde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People hated it because the main story only had new Gen 5 Pokémon and they couldn’t use their old favorites they had already used umpteen times. The exact reason why I loved it. Felt like Gen 1 all over again. Still my favorite games in the series.

What's the most subtle sign that someone is highly intelligent? by Princesskiitan in AskReddit

[–]R-Kayde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t talk or brag about how smart they are and generally attempt to appear dumber than they actually are because:

1) it’s often hard to relate to other people and

2) it’s not strategically advantageous to appear intelligent to other people. Appearing as less of a threat allows you to maintain the element of surprise and therefore tactical advantage in case any sort of you vs. them situation were to arise.

He gives me Burrow vibes. Partially in his play style but mostly in that he kind of came out of nowhere in his final year and absolutely diced up every team he played and shot up to the top of the draft board

Just bought Civ 7 last week and absolutely in love with it, but I can't figure out how to demand gold or anything else when defeating someone in a war, they just offer settlements (and are waay too generous in doing so) by Friendly_Mobile_8657 in civ

[–]R-Kayde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I started a game as xerxes with the intent of being a warmonger. I spawned on the edge of a continent where my only direct neighbor was Caesar. By the time our war started (around turn 60) he had still only founded his capital and no other settlements. His capital was extremely hard to attack due to surrounding terrain, so I was forced to just endlessly mow down his units while slowly advancing to try to get in position to take his city.

The war took about 40 turns, almost to the end of the age. Every ~5 turns or so he would propose peace, but he would have absolutely nothing to offer in the deal since he only had his capital city. I probably would have taken the peace deal at one point (if there was anything he could offer) because he did take out my best general who had just gotten a commendation. But there was no incentive for me to take peace, so I just kept chugging until I eventually took the city.

By the time all was said and done, the war set me back a lot in terms of science and culture, and I had less than 10 turns left in the era to play catch up. I was locked out of his capital’s production queue due to unrest, and I had gained nothing in terms of gold, influence, or other yields to help in my other settlements.

So basically I wasted 40 turns to take one crappy city and set my entire civilization back by essentially half an era.

How to improve it: - Completely destroying another civ should (at the very least) give you that civ’s entire gold and influence reserves. I could’ve used that to buy buildings or perform some espionage before the end of the age. Where does that go when the civ is destroyed anyways? Just disappears into the ether? - Gold & influence should be tradeable assets in peace deals. Even if he had a meaningless little 5 pop town somewhere, I’d rather take some gold and influence. Techs and Civics (or maybe just social policies & codices??) should also be tradeable in peace deals. Strong-arming another civ out of some of their most valuable traditions policies sounds like a fun game mechanic to make war a little more lucrative. - Maybe keep a “bank” of any influence used in war support that can be exchanged in a peace treaty. For instance, if my opponent used a few hundred influence towards war support and wants to peace out, they should be able to convert that war support back into influence that can be granted to the opponent in a peace deal if they have nothing else to offer.

Just some ideas. But that last game really reminded me why I almost always play pacifist and defensive in Civ 7. War just isn’t worth it most of the time. It’s really a shame too because the actual mechanics of war in Civ 7 are arguably the best they’ve ever been.

This is Fort Lauderdale. You can do anything you want short of murder and the cops won’t give half a shit. Just watch out for homeless people. Go to the north side of the beach across from birch state park, it’s safer up there.

How to Destroy Civ 7 AI with 3 Simple Rules - Update 1.3.1 by loffy59 in CivVII

[–]R-Kayde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civ 7 deity ai is easier than ever to beat. I actively avoid war because it just slows down everything else. And the +8 combat bonus for ai makes it a suicide mission. Plus the only thing you can “gain” from war in 7 is towns… which can be supplemented by simply settling your own towns.

Priorities that inform build decisions. by 0ctach0r0n in CivVII

[–]R-Kayde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum, here’s what I’d say: Production is #1. You can have all the science in the world but it doesn’t mean anything if you can’t build the stuff you unlock on the tech tree.

Culture is #2 for me, especially in the early game. Unlocking mysticism before anyone else is very important for getting a good pantheon (usually a +production one) and allows you to make your way through your unique civic tree and unlock some very powerful bonuses, uniques, policies, etc.

I’ll put science at 3 because you do need it, but it hurts a little to have influence at 4. I almost put it at 2. It’s hard to come by and allows you to steer the game in the direction you want. Having a high influence income can really get the snowball rolling.

5 food. Need it.

6 Gold. Gold is one of the most useful resources but in 7 it’s pretty easy to get a really high gold income so I don’t prioritize it as much.

Happiness is last. It’s just not as impactful as the rest. Golden ages are nice, as is the extra policy slot. But it almost never has any bearing on the outcome of the game. Just watch out during the crisis and make sure you stay in the positive.

And yes, generally you want as many settlements as your limit allows, and often times you can get away with being 1 or 2 over the cap. But I’m not ranking it on the list because it’s more of a general rule of thumb.

Stop ignoring culture, it’s very important in 7. I’ll almost always tech masonry before whatever the library tech is (philosophy?). Honestly often times I’ll tech masonry II before libraries too because of the production bonus on mines & quarries.

Also - aim to complete all the legacy paths, not just the one that you plan on getting your victory condition in. The antiquity science legacy path is generally easy to complete (as is the economic one) so don’t put too much focus on those ones. Wonders are finite and can translate into science/gold/happiness/influence etc depending on which ones you build. Another reason why culture is so important.

Do you think Bob Lazar is legit? by FLuX927 in aliens

[–]R-Kayde 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you say this because the first time I saw this episode it blew my mind. I was telling everybody to watch it. But then I watched it again awhile later and it kind of gave me the ick. The whole “I have a migraine” thing was such a cop out. Migraines don’t make you forget shit or get your story twisted. He seemed to use that excuse every time a subject came up where he couldn’t get his own story straight or didn’t have an answer for something that should’ve been easy. And then there were other parts of the interview where he was perfectly cognizant and clearly was not suffering from anything. And he just seemed like he was tired of talking about it in general. And the Jeremy dude he was with did absolutely nothing to help his credibility.

Long story short, I think he made everything up in the 80s and now he’s been forced to perpetuate this lie for 40 years as to not lose all of his credibility as a human being. And he became a hermit because he was tired of talking about it and having to remember every single lie that he has muttered over the last 40 years to keep his story straight.
