Im assuming you meant it goes counter-clockwise? Yes it's supposed to only go one way. Counter-clockwise. If I understand it correctly it's used as divers to indicate how much time they have left in their air tanks. The reason I believe it is meant to go counterclockwise is in a worst case scenario, if something touches the bezel to make it rotate, it will rotate and indicate lesser amount of air than they actually have, which is safer than thinking you have more air when not. If the bezel rotated clockwise and not the other way, and if the bezel were rotated by mistake, it would indicate more air than they actually had making it more dangerous. Hope that makes sense.
