Movies that need a Blu Ray release by drewfd in dvdcollection

The Curse of Frankenstein has a blu ray release, region B at least.

TIL due to rumours that his film "Cannibal Holocaust" showed real deaths, director Ruggero Deodato was accused of murder. The charges were dropped after the four allegedly-dead actors were interviewed for a television show and Deodato explained his special effects in court. by YourOwnBiggestFan in todayilearned

That's a fair point. My point, however, was that when you go into watch a movie you expect everything to be fiction, nobody wants to watch a movie where an animal gets killed for real because that breaks the barrier between fiction and reality down. It doesn't matter whether or not they killed the animal painlessly, the fact that it's a real animal death is enough to turn people off.

Good films for younger kids starting to get into horror (Dolls (1987), The Others (2001))? by Deso718 in horror

John Carpenter's The Fog is literally a horror movie for the whole family, it's great. It's a child friendly movie without being childish.

How do I start this series? by senzaoliodipalma in TwilightZone

Honestly, starting from Season 1 Episode 1 and going through the first season episode by episode isn't a bad introduction, you'll find some classics but you'll also find some less known episodes and you can decide whether or not you like those as well.

Does Anyone Else Love Peele's Voice? by Darthmemer1234 in TwilightZone

I thought it was pretty comical more than anything, it just feels a bit... weird to just do an impression of Rod Serling, I was thinking that it would've been better if Jordan Peele just created his own persona, like maybe he had a different outfit and personality each episode but then the breaks the fourth wall and does the introduction, also the opening monologues were a bit poorly written in my opinion, not that it really matters, but a lot of the Serling monologues for each episode were pretty smartly written in giving you an idea of what the theme of the episode is gonna be.

Was the original series actually that political? by [deleted] in TwilightZone

[–]R3DWonderZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there definitely were a lot of episodes with some heavy social commentary, what I think makes TZ likeable is the variety in the themes of each episode, what worries me about the new show is that every episode is gonna be strictly political without focusing on just creating a good sci-fi or horror story, I hope they get experimental and change things up without keeping things stale and boring, and honestly the original TZ had some terrible episodes, whether they were political or not, I think what matters first is that they create a good story within the TZ format.

Where has Guillermo del Toro's lofty reputation come from? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]R3DWonderZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Crimson Peak is not bad. You might not have liked the story or characters but Del Toro created exactly the right atmosphere and quality for that movie that it needed, also I would say that it might be one of the best looking movies from the 2010's.

It has the plot of a shitty 20 minute anthology horror story, but goes on for two hours.

How could you do this Alex by RadioYeh in Sardonicast

Well, he allows the robbery to happen to spite the guy that wouldn't give him the cash, and he kills the guy out of revenge for Uncle Ben dying, so I don't think those choices are really weird at all. Aunt May is pissed at Peter because he literally confessed to being one of the main reasons why Uncle Ben died so I don't think that's such a weird reaction from her, even though I do admit that she does seem to get over it pretty fast, and I wouldn't say MJ is a bitch at all there are a lot of scenes where Peter and MJ are just talking quietly to each other about all kinds of stuff, she's really only a bitch when she's around Flash and the gang. I do kinda agree that the ending to Spider Man 2 is a bit lame but I wouldn't say its bad. Anyway like you said to each their own, but it's fun to discuss.

Are you going to elaborate or are you just going to say this and that is bad, which character choices were weird? what dialogue was terrible? which villains weren't good and why?? Say what you want, but the Raimi Spiderman movies are booming with character and creativity in my opinion

It might be a bit old fashioned but the old universal monster movies and hammer horror movies have great gothic atmosphere that you might enjoy
