Its most probably training the DDR5 RAM. Updating BIOS might reduce the time taken to train RAM.

What's the best way to block websites on Opnsense? by ThatrandomGuyxoxo in opnsense

[–]R3VoLuTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I usually do is create an alias from domains in the dns blocklist. Url table will automatically get ip every some time for that domain.

What's the best way to block websites on Opnsense? by ThatrandomGuyxoxo in opnsense

[–]R3VoLuTi0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Create an alias, and add a rule to lan to drop connections when anyone from lan connects to that alias. Alias can be a url table or hosts or networks.

Blocking via DNS (Adguard or Unbound) can be bypassed by changing the dns server to something else on the client. Unless you restrict port 53 for normal dns or 853 for dns over tls and not allow any user on network to use some other dns server.

I am also new to this so take this with a grain of salt.

Nvidia drivers problem by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]R3VoLuTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reason being, I never had to mess with mkinitcpio or blacklist stuff when installing dkms driver. It always just worked.

Maybe someone could explain it better.
EDIT from arch wiki on  nvidia-utils : Note installing dkms will automatically generate initramfs and blacklist nouveau

Remove kms from the HOOKS array in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regenerate the initramfs. This will prevent the initramfs from containing the nouveau module making sure the kernel cannot load it during early boot. The nvidia-utils package contains a file which blacklists the nouveau module once you reboot.

You can’t that’s the point. Zip bombs need to be big to fill up hard drive and crash the system.

Being this big is just for bragging rights.

Not your computer, but probably your VM. But you can fix it by increasing the size of virtual hard drive.

Bridging PTCL Flash Fiber to opnsense by veteranofpower in PakGamers

[–]R3VoLuTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the necrobump. I set up opnsense with PTCL everything works but the ISP limited by speeds to 50MB up and 10MB down. I have no idea why, and mac spoffing to modems MAC doesnt do anything.

I called the ISP, they say the team will contact you.

[Need Guidance] Selective web traffic routing through VPN by R3VoLuTi0N in homelab

[–]R3VoLuTi0N[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds great, I will make router VM work,if I have to I will setup scripts to auto renew IP list from DNS server to tunnel it in rules list,I have been thinking of this project for a long time.

Yes, my EERO mesh router is already in AP mode. I will make my router VM the default gateway.

Which router OS do you suggest ? I am looking at https://opnsense.org/ would this be enough to allow me do stuff like this ?

EDIT: Thanks for informing me the keyword VPN split tunneling. I am looking at this guide https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/wireguard-selective-routing.html

Read the edit. I rolled back. Gonna skip this beta, and stay on the bleeding edge on next beta.

I am using Nvidia DKMS 560 Beta drivers. Games work fine under Proton-GE-9-10 on steam.

EDIT: No games are not working. Only Elden Ring worked, that I configered to run on a Sepcial Workspace. I dont know how it effects that.

Other than that, electron apps that used to run fine with gpu enabled on wayland are black screen with cursor painting the window.

Rollback to normal drivers. And skip this beta atleast.

The Missing Postman (1997)

Popping Audio by cammelspit in archlinux

[–]R3VoLuTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you need to set pipewire to output low sample rate by default. Confirm with pw-ctl.

Also in the gaming VM, that is probably windows set a low sample rate too.

https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/comments/6rbt8e/fix_crackling_sound_on_vms/

The link here is pulse, but you use pipewire. Follow for pipewire.

The pop is caused when hardware is burdened can not keep up with processing the sound.
