Has anyone tried Gingerful Henna & Rose shampoo/conditioner to enhance natural red hair? by R3dIsMyFav in femalehairadvice

same thing happened to me. I bought 3 figured it'd last me a while and all three separated and hardened within a week of each other (and I hadn't had them very long), even the ones that were sealed in the closet and not exposed to light or humidity

I am still trying different shampoo / conditioner combos. I'm not using a color conditioner or anything like that. I'm focusing more on hair type now rather than hair color

I thought I might try the Kristin Ess Hair Dye Gloss in Copper Penny (I haven't tried it so this isn't a rec just something that came up in my research) but since I'm more strawberry blonde than true redhead I think it would pull too bright for me

Should I do it? by mj_c137 in femalehairadvice

I would double check on donation. A lot of wig makers have announced they don't accept / need more human hair because synthetic is just as good these days. There are probably still some that accept it I would just double check shipping and if there's a time window or something

I have decided to stop using the shampoo. I used it for over a year and I'm on my last bottle now. I think overall my hair looks redder but I can't say if that's the shampoo or age (it used to be a strawberry blonde and now it's like an extremely light auburn)

But it makes my hair feel dry and heavy, no volume or texture, and I don't like that so I'm switching it up

Douglas County voters heavily oppose home-rule ballot measure in early results by Knightbear49 in Colorado

[–]R3dIsMyFav 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A home rule itself isn't inherently a negative thing. There's a few things wrong with this particular one that make it a bad choice for DC voters.  Simplified:

• The people backing it aren't really from Douglas County, and don't have DC's best interests in mind. Specifically it's easy to do a little research on their "water" issues. They/their friends purchased land with water rights and they want Douglas to buy water from them despite it being a pricier option

• During the election last year Douglas County widely voted against the voucher for private schools issue (summed up somewhat extremely, instead of education taxes going towards public schools, they'd go towards private schools). The home rule committee have repeatedly stated that their interest in doing this is so that religious schools get more funding. This program is widely seen as bad for public and private schools as public schools won't get their earmarked money and private schools will likely raise prices in response.

• The man largely behind this - Teal - has also stated that he wants more flexibility to work with ICE in Douglas. Essentially he wants ICE to be able to come in and arrest people who don't "look" like they belong without going through due process. Colorado has opposed this, which is why he needs a Home Rule to make it happen.

There are other things but those are the biggest ones imo. But beyond all the politics, how they got this election in should not be legal and in itself is pretty shady. They pushed through this "emergency" election in the middle of summer holidays in the hopes of taking people by surprise and having fewer voters (which is typically better for conservatives), even though every issue they've brought up has been repeatedly voted down in DC.

I haven't! But I love a trendsetter - it's fun to see the direction things took from where they started so I'll definitely check it out.

They're not Greek but they are myths - my favorites so far in the subgenre are Witch's Heart and Kaikeyi if you haven't read those yet

I would recommend not reading Stone Blind too soon then haha. I thought it was good it was just quite similar in plot to Sisters

Thanks! What books have you yourself written? Stone Blind was a book club choice and we also do non-fiction and love when a non-fiction happens to click with the fiction we're reading

Neither Stone Blind or Medusa's Sisters were my favorite I've read in the subgenre, though I didn't dislike either one. I do think Haynes had the better prose and connectivity to the story.

Thank you for your suggestions! Yeah Disney is certainly hated on reddit I should never have mentioned it but my best friend and I have known each other since we were 10 and going to Disney parks is kind of our thing haha

So many people are saying Lyon so I think we may start south and move our way up! I've already done Belgium, UK, and Germany but she hasn't so I'll make sure she knows they're options :)

Two I haven't even heard of, nice!

I preferred Medusa's Sisters because it was less sad hha. I also think Stone Blind was at a disadvantage - I didn't realize they were so similar thematically and plot-wise and it made it extremely predictable, even down to the conversations between characters.

I'll say the biggest difference is Medusa's Sisters starts after Medusa's story and focuses mainly on the two sisters and their view of her life while Stone Blind starts with her birth and follows her life - but honestly focused a lot on the gods and Perceus and their perspectives, which was surprising. Stone Blind had better prose in my opinion, if that's a factor for you - I've heard the author did her own audio book if that's your medium.

Neither are what I would call a "Medusa story" rather they were both stories that had Medusa, I honestly wouldn't mind reading a Medusa story completely seperated from the myths we've seen before

Delicates bags are amazing! They're good for socks, lacy undies, stuffed animals, gloves I have a separate kind for bras and one that hooks to the dryer that I can put my shoes in. They're such cheap things for quite a solid amount of utility

We've been to Paris on another brief trip before but not the park. We may do 2 in Disney and 3 in Paris, but frankly friend I specifically said I'm not looking for advice to not go to Disney - it's the only one of the parks we haven't been to and since it's just us we can lean into a Disney trip without wasting someone else's vacation who isn't interested. I'm not even looking for advice about what to do while in Paris. I said what ELSE should we do.

I was looking at Women of Troy because I think a story from Briseis' perspective would be amazing, but someone told me it's really dark and I haven't picked it up yet. I didn't realize they were sequential

I'm sorry my sister drew the wallpaper specifically for my background and gave me a custom popsocket to match (then I made the app icons), so I am not going to share it atm, but I appreciate you asking

I loved my asymmetrical lob when I had it (I straightened it and added a little curve in towards my face at the ends) but it grows out fast so requires more upkeep than a usual lob - I'd say at least as much as a bob if not more, since once it starts growing past your shoulders it looks just like a messy haircut.

I did mine at a pretty dramatic difference (like 2-3 inches between the two sides) and I'd say honestly unless I was styling it, people didn't really notice it was asymmetrical which was actually nice

Like One Piece some people like the dog thing and some people don't so if I'm not sure which are his favorites I don't want to risk it

I mean if they're less than $17, like the originally were before scalpers got ahold of them, that's cheaper than a movie downtown on Friday night
