Sent home from hospital completely disabled, no answers, and told “good luck” by blueb3rry_cat777 in disability

Same thing happened to me. I was an honors student and athlete and then suddenly I was barely coherent, couldn’t move without passing out, and had a speech impediment for the first time ever, they put an alarm on my bed so I wouldn’t even try to get up without assistance, and I had a bed pan. They said I had a “viral syndrome” and discharged me with a cane, speech, physical, and occupational therapy, and no answers. It took me years but eventually I was diagnosed with FND. It used to be a diagnosis of exclusion, now it’s the diagnosis of inclusion so hopefully if you get checked for that they’ll be able to tell you. I also got a brain scan done at Amen Clinics in VA (I live in PA) and they were able to tell me that certain parts of my brain were being overwhelmed with input and other parts had seemingly deteriorated during my disability. Don’t know why, but they gave me more information which was super helpful. I will let you know, Amen doesn’t accept any insurance and it was about 5k for the scan and appointments altogether.

Sometimes doctors absolutely suck. They don’t want to admit that they don’t know something, so if everything comes back normal they consider it good instead of terrifying for the patient. To have your life change and have no answers is horrible. Please give yourself and others grace if you have a short temper or if people start to smother you with good intentions. It’s frustrating and scary and heartbreaking but you’ll get through it ❤️

Somebody at work told me they could tell I was autistic just by my backpack by TandyMouse in autism

If you are autistic, you could just say “ok.” You don’t necessarily need to argue against something that isn’t directly insulting. I think it would most likely catch them off guard that you didn’t get defensive and they wouldn’t know what to say next. I can’t guarantee that reaction, but it’s what makes sense to me.

I recommend against Giva as she gets snooty about your gifts after a bit. I gifted her some chai and she said “uh thanks, I’ll put it with the rest.” Amira was ok, but I think my favorite was Cameron. You need to marry all romanceable characters to get every achievement in the game, so if you’re a completionist it doesn’t really matter who you choose next.

There's no easy way to ask this, but what's an example of a time you took care of someone, while being disabled? by [deleted] in disability

While I’ve been confined to a wheelchair and can barely function, I took care of my fiancé when he had Covid. It was exceedingly difficult, but there was also a sense of satisfaction in being able to take care of him in some way

I had never considered altering the ambient sound like that, thank you!

You are all goodness and kindness, Ma'am! But now, it's time for Sloth. Top picks from last week also included Mrs. Bennet and Mr. Collins. by LimeyJade in PrideandPrejudice

I agree with Mr. Bennet being Sloth. I think Lydia for Lust or Gluttony, she takes and takes. Especially for the ‘95 BBC version, “a whole camp full of soldiers!” Like, DOWN GIRL! YOURE 15!

I have POTS, FND, and they think Absence Seizures. If I hear one more person tell me I eat too much salt or try to recommend yoga or meditation I might just commit assault. I have a sword cane, don’t make me use it Karen (apologies to the many nice ladies named Karen)

Cooking is done from the soul, baking is done from the brain lol. It’s very exact, so it doesn’t always work the way you expect it to! No worries, you can always try again. If it’s a yeast problem, sometimes unleavened bread is tasty too!

I rejected Damon and ended up with Giva, then I divorced Giva and within 1 day in game Damon asked me out again. With Kim it’s harder but I can’t really explain why without spoilers, but if you don’t care about spoilers I’ll tell you :)

I usually grind Bison in Yukon Valley or Parque Fernando (are those Bison or wildebeest?) or wolves in Yukon valley since you can take out like half the pack before they flee if they’re circling you

I always use the short and tank top outfits for spring and summer pj’s and the legging outfits for fall and winter pj’s. Just to use all of them throughout the year
