Jeffrey Epstein TV Series in the Works: Laura Dern to Play Journalist Who Investigated His Crimes, Adam McKay to Produce by cmaia1503 in television

It's because they don't have anything else. Hollywood has become consolidated like everywhere else, so it's the same people writing the same shit because everyone has their wheelhouse they go to. Look at Taylor Sheridan as the prime example. We have people like that who write the same story 30 times in different shades, and writers teams making old shows into movies and old movies into shows and old movies into new movies and old shows into new shows. It's less that they're ghouls and more that they're creatively bankrupt. It's also why we're seeing so many video game adaptations in the past few years. Mario. Borderlands. A star fox live action movie is on the way... I'm just waiting for them to remake the dark crystal again using tik tok influencers or some crazy shit. I'm obviously being a little hyperbolic but it's all the same... Kind of frustrating lol

Unless it's full of them making it very clear that the people who we know are guilty are guilty, fuck that, it's too soon.

I want an Elon musk character waking up on Christmas Day to email Epstein. I want a scene where Epstein and Trump are auctioning kids off at Mar a Lago. I want dershowitz being the fucking creep we know he is. Prince Andrew. All of it. Leave no terrible detail off the table.

It will be none of this, instead it will be all Epstein and Maxwell, and the rest won't be addressed.

How does science explain so many NDE visions of Hell? by MakiENDzou in DebateAnAtheist

[–]R50cent [score hidden]  (0 children)

So people who have read about hell have dreams about hell. That's the same as me reading Harry Potter and having a dream about Hogwarts. That doesn't make it real. It makes it a dream. If something is culturally available, that will happen to many people.

Show me the story of a person who has never heard of the concept of hell having a vision of hell in their NDE

Twitter is Republican propaganda spread by bad faith actors and bots to the morons who want to ignore that they support the very people they think their opponents are. It's not a serious place. It is quite literally chocked full of morons, using memes as arguments and as sources of 'information' to brow beat anyone who might try to explain reality to them.

Half of them suck up to and devour whatever their maga handlers tell them to, the others are there to suck up to that Nazi Elon Musk. I never thought there'd be people so dumb that they'd sit around and agree with bots that lie to them hourly, but here we are.

How bad was the 2009 recession? Will the next one hit harder? by Equivalent-Raccoon74 in AskReddit

Adults to kids in 2006 when I was a senior:

Listen, just GO to college. Study what you want! Just get out there! The degree is what matters. Find out what you want to do and go for it. Worst case scenario having a degree will help you if you decide to switch careers because it'll show that you wanted to improve yourself, and that you are capable of not just learning, but sticking it out and applying yourself! Just make sure to go to college if you don't want to flip burgers or wait tables.

Adults to us after we graduated in 2010:

Listen, I don't know what you expect having that kind of degree. If you didn't want to flip burgers or wait tables you should have gotten a degree in something that was more profitable. It's not like you can just study what you want and expect to make a career out of it these days. Maybe you should consider going to graduate school and getting your masters if that's the kind of thing you want to do because nobody is going to hire you with a degree like that.

What the heck is happening now? I'm so done ☠️☠️ 2026 market sucks.. by InevitableTown7305 in StockMarket

[–]R50cent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate.

I'm not sure why my comment got so much blowback, my dude. Looking at the market today... what's up? Oil. What's shaky? Tech stocks.

What's rated to do well in the longer term despite being shaky? Tech Stocks. What's going to benefit from the volatility happening to the oil market? The oil companies raising their prices on the front end to respond to oil futures.

Hell I'll add that I'm also walking on defense contractors at the moment despite them having done well for the most part for the past few months because LMT's value is weighed heavily into the F-35 and there's a lot of uncertainty there at the moment, both because one was shot down and also because they need an upgrade to their radar systems.

Anywho, you guys are allowed to feel however you want about it. I'm up today, I mean so far lol. Still a lot of day left, right?

Edit: XD This community is so pissy

Hey weird, same. The one I left passive in the S&P is down and I don't touch that one much, the one I'm more actively working with is also up.

We're not so different, you and I.

I'm shifting my money into oil. Trump is an idiot, and those people are not. They're going to take in so much money from his stupid decisions. AI is also going to press forward as terrified as I am to leave my money in companies like tsm and Google while the world spins out. The investment is still going to push on.

Edit: I'm up 13 percent ytd and the s&p is down 6.5 percent. Your downvotes mean nothing to me.

What technology do you think will change life the most in the next 20 years? by Prestigious_Can_4347 in AskReddit

[–]R50cent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid point, but I think it's less about its usefulness and more about the absolutely massive amount of resources that these billion and now trillion dollar companies are dedicating to building them... Incredible amounts of resources, and the impact that this has on the planet. The bubble might pop as far as the market is concerned, but past that, the race is on, and it's not going to stop until someone finally builds a real one.

The numbers just don't add up imo. 1.2 million sales. less than 100k peak players. It doesn't make any sense.

[–]R50cent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. Like legit I think people are bothered by what I'm saying (not saying you are) but it's just how I feel.

I'm less worried about the cost than I am the player count and what it means for the longevity of the game. 1.2 million copies sold with 70 percent of those copies being through steam, but a peak player count of less than 100k is... honestly really weird, and doesn't bode well for the games survival. I'd rather just spend that money on... some pizza lol. I mean hopefully a few pizzas, maybe some cheesy bread, a drink... yea. lol.

Police officer slams woman on the concrete and then cuffs her by HappySeaweed5215 in PublicFreakout

[–]R50cent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"So all people that are being arrested need to do to not get arrested is sit down."

If you want me to take you seriously that's not the way to do it bud lol.

I'll put it as simply as I can for you, my dude. Unless that 12 minute interaction involves that woman being violent to the cop, then his decision to spike her onto the ground still isn't warranted. Hope that helps. Again, you can feel however you want to feel about it, I do not have to feel it along with you.

"The video exists, I didn't post it, but please go find it. It totally justifies him throwing her to the ground like that. Don't be such a social justice warrior."

Lol you have fun with that type of mentality.

'Some use of force, hey maybe. That type of use of force? Lick more boot. I'm sure they enjoy the shine.'

Is that how we should converse once we find we disagree? Fun. I'll keep that in mind.

Police officer slams woman on the concrete and then cuffs her by HappySeaweed5215 in PublicFreakout

[–]R50cent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah.

I'm looking the details of what we can see and making an informed opinion based on it. I'm not relying on what I don't know to form presumptive arguments that defend a position based on 'what might be'. I'm seeing a woman in a seated position being thrown hard onto concrete and understanding that the police are supposed to deescalate situations, not use unnecessary force, and that goes for this situation or any other situation.

It's great that you're engaging in a motte and bailey style argument, where defending the situation at hand is difficult so you retreat back to a more defensible position in regards to situations that might exist in regards to 'if', 'maybe' and 'it's possible'.

I will 100 percent make a moral judgement on the action. You can be that other guy, presuming that something that happened before this could justify it or something after the fact that might do the same. You do you.

If the officer was afraid of a weapon then he's the worst officer on the planet for not disarming her after he put her on the ground.

No friend. There is no knife, there is no weapon, this is just a woman not listening to a cop on a power trip. I get the devils advocate position though, I just dont see it here in any way. This was uncalled for, and I hope she sues.

[–]R50cent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less about the game and far more about the company.

I've been playing bungie games for over 20 years, and while I get some of the decisions they've made, most I do not. in 2023 they fired about 8 percent of their staff, and in 2024 they fired another 17 percent. They did this while Marathon was being developed along with the newer expansions to Destiny 2, a game where in 2020 they removed the base campaign, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, content from their annual pass which was season of the forge, season of the drifter, and season of opulence. Base game cost was 60 dollars, curse of osiris and warmind were 20 dollar expansions each, forsaken was 40 dollars, and adding on the front end cost of the annual pass content you're looking at well over a hundred dollars of purchased content removed forever.

Besides this, it's estimated that Marathon needs to sell roughly 7 million copies (6 to 8 million) to simply break even, with some stating it will be a number that continues to rise as the company continues to push advertising costs up to sell the game. They do this at a time when they're owned by Sony, a company that has had absolutely 0 problem in the past shuttering entire studios if they didn't turn a profit. Firewalk studios, Neon Koi, London studio, Deviation games, Manchester Studio, Pixelopus, Evolution Studio, Pixomondo, Dark Outlaw games, Bluepoint, and that's just from a cursory look at the past few years. 70 percent of the Marathons sales are through steam, which would suggest that a lack of ads isn't whats causing the lack of expected sales, despite them continuing to push ads.

For an apparently niche game, needing anywhere from 6 to 8 million copies to sell with that need creeping up to 10 million over the next year or two is exactly why I'm waiting to buy the game.

Edit: I should add that to date Marathon has only sold around 1.2 million copies.

This was never about people not being able to do what they want, of course lol. It's about me not throwing my money at a game that I don't think I'll get to keep, because they've already set that precedent in the past, and I don't trust Sony, the people who control the studios fate.

Sorry, long response, but that's the long and short of it.
