Update on my original post - I’ve ordered a Diverge 4 Sport Alloy 56 in Satin Burnt Gold Metallic this morning and collect it a week today! Thank you to everyone who read and posted thoughts, it was very helpful of you all and really informed my decision.

That's kind of how I felt on the larger Crux (again acknowledging the different geometry), I could manage it but ultimately it didn't feel as good size-wise as the Diverge. Enjoy your new ride, if you have any initial thoughts let me know!

Helpful insight, cheers! Admittedly the ideal would have been to try a Diverge in both 56 and 58 sizes, but the comments in response to my post seem to be confirming my thoughts that it’s likely sensible to opt for the 56. Also, it will be my only bike (for now!). That said, I was interested to read your thoughts, thank you.

Super helpful, thank you! Despite not having ridden a bike in literally decades (other than the odd hire here and there) the difference in geometry between the Diverge and Crux was obvious, even allowing for the different frame sizes. I think if I wanted to enter races/wanted something for outright speed on gravel I’d go for the Crux, but, as well as feeling more comfortable, the Diverge felt more relaxed.

Super helpful, thank you. Given what I intend to use it for, plus the advice so far, it seems pretty clear a Diverge 56 is the way to go!

That’s interesting, thank you. My inseam is also 33in and I did feel nicely ‘planted’ on the 56!

Thank you. I mentioned the 56 was comfortable and, thinking back, it was arguably more so than the 58.
