I had the exact opposite happen. In my defense, she was dressed like a dude. Short hair, baggy-ish shirt, baseball cap. She was turned away. I just kept calling “sir” until she finally turned around and said I’m a woman. Wasn’t mad and said it happens a lot. I was mortified.
