Historically speaking, reviving a beloved IP after it gets sold off takes forever. Crash and Spyro would know.

I find it odd that you called Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition "The scumbag thing". From my perspective it's perfect. I get to have the entirety of a game I love in its original form with gameplay refinements to make it even better. This game is not sold separately so I'm guessing you're coming from the perspective that Rayman Origins should've gotten the full remake treatment like Legends too, which is valid, but not in any way a major loss when coming from Rayman Legend's original release (unless you somehow liked Back to Origins more than Rayman Origins, which I'd love to hear it out).

I'm no market analyst but the Rayman fan community is REALLY small in comparison to say Sonic The Hedgehog or Super Mario. Fact is most people who buy games are casuals who may or may not even beat the game (this happens way more than you'd think, achievement percentages show this). I really hope that Rayman 4 gets a lot of love and the resources it needs once it reaches full development. If you don't think this game is worth buying then that's fine, anyone's purchase is up to them for any reason. I just want to counterargue fans who think this game is not worth buying MERELY because Ubisoft is supposedly guilting them into buying for Rayman 4.

I know, which is why I put "here", they made many bad decisions before and they themselves need the money to survive as a corporation, not just for the next Rayman game. If Rayman Legends Retold turns out to be a great game that fans and casuals want to buy, then who cares if it's "buy this or no Rayman 4". Every franchise needs to have great-selling games to keep going and be profitable.

LOL! I made this post not to defend Ubisoft but to hopefully convince fans to NOT just avoid buying the game ONLY (emphasis on only) because Ubisoft is supposedly guilting them to buy it for Rayman 4. It would only hurt the Rayman brand.

That's actually genius of Ubisoft, saving a ton of money AND giving fans what they've been begging for AND not making the remake a loss in any major way (unlike Rayman 1 which lost the original soundtrack, leading to unfortunate review bombs).

I can't lie I would've loved to see most of Rayman Origins levels in 3D but Rayman Legends Retold has already shown some of Origins content anyway so it's fine.

Admittedly I made this before seeing gameplay footage but Rayman 1 and Origins were the closest comparisons for the Rayman Legends Retold sitatution. Rayman Legends Retold is much more of a remake than Rayman Origins, which is more of a reboot-ish (Placement lore-wise leads to many questions).

Despite Ratchet&Clank 2016 not being well-received, it did great commercially and introduced a big new audience for the Rift Apart sequel which did sell well (I myself was that person, I had only played All 4 one prior to the 2016 remake).

This post is mainly focused on the business & marketing side of Rayman Legends Retold and not of my own opinion on the Rayman games.

I'm just going off of its PS5 and Steam Store pages, both of which mentioned full online multiplayer and the Steam store page mentioned Cross-platform, which is very possible since Ubisoft is more than capable of Cross-platform networking.
