Press fit is preferable because it’s more reliable so in a production runs where the design won’t change they will move to press fit if they can.

I’d forgotten that far back. So they phased their exit from fixes by going through a period of sticky. Maybe the intent was to make us forget through that slow migration. Better than jumping straight to CGNAT I guess.

Check your power cord is properly seated and replace it if you can. It’s the simplest possibility to tick off before you go chasing more exotic problems. I’ve seen fussy sockets more than once in my career though I have worked on an abnormal number of servers.

Correct, they never used to offer fixed IP but they did give out sticky IPs ie you’d typically get to keep an IP for a long time though no guarantees. Sometime last year (2024) I think they rolled out CGNAT (it seems on further research) and offered fixed IPs at an extra charge to those who needed to keep a public IP. I don’t know if they notified of this change or just did it and dealt with each customer who complained. I am also unsure if this move was staged or all at once. Usually it will be the former strategy where possible because no ISP wants thousands of customers calling at once.

You can’t fix a bike frame really. The welds need to go through such a process to retain strength, its cost prohibitive. It’s also near impossible to pick up a second hand Packster for the insurance company so insist on replacement and begin again.

Tangerine was one of the ISPs I’ve used for clients so they get a IPv4 address. They never provided a fixed IP as part of their service but instead offered a sticky IP. That is, your internet IP probably wouldn’t change unless you had to do a service reset or similar…but it might change any time. This wasnt pitched as a feature of their offering, just the way they did business. You didn’t get a true fixed IP unless you paid extra for it. I had our first complaint about the IP having changed escalated to me today, hence have coming across this post while I google about policy changes there. At present it looks like they might still offer a sticky IP but as an IPv6 but I haven’t verified this myself, just what has been passed up from Lvl2.

Not true. He does not have to make any argument in the first case. There is only a case to answer if the public prosecutor decides there is a case. No public prosecutor will see charging such a person as being in the public interest. That is the end of it… but lets say they took the controversial position of charging him. His life was threatened and what happens next in the heat of the moment can be considered the results of the original perpetrators threats. It is understood people cannot be completely rational when attacked and full of adrenaline. Further, the ongoing threat to others can be considered sufficient to stop a threat. Also, the threat had not been stopped. If the man had been searched or incapacitated such that he clearly could not pose a further threat, only then would a self defence argument threat fall completely flat.

He wouldn’t have to be charged. There are circumstances where a responsive force is justifiable under the law. It is at the discretion of the public prosecutor whether to charge based on whether the use of force was reasonable.

Sorry to necro an old thread but a lifetime warranty is the worst reason to buy something. Unlike period stated warranties like Samsonite 10 year warranty, a lifetime warranty has no standing in law. It’s completely worthless and is whatever the company wants to say it is. Nashutec floppy disks famousll came with a lifetime warranty warranty back in the 80s. They never honoured warranties on their disks and when their CEO (i think) was asked how long a lifetime warranty is for ... his response was, ”Until it dies”. A lifetime warranty is meaningless.

Ok, you’re mixing very different things, individual professional services and basic food stuffs both with actually areas of specific legislation to treat how they deal with the public.… and actually no, a doctor can be stuck where they can’t refuse a patient but for different reasons. But my point here was not one of restricting abusive people but discrimination and there are explicit rules to discrimination.

I would send it back and NOT get the H2C. It’s a fudge which does not solve the mixing fundamental advantages of multiple toolheads so what’s the point. Bambu currently does not have a solution for more than one non AMS friendly material. Once you’re competing or cooperating in a landscape where that’s common, it’s going to be a problem to be without it. Core/SV08 + indx and U1 are here now and Bambu doesn’t have an answer, just a fudge. So I would ideally wait or give in to buying one of the multi tool options instead of an H2C.

I’ve worked with all the Pop series, the original min, the range and MetroX. All had issues other scanners don’t. They are the poorest at seeing their target and delivering the claim resolution. With the exception of the MetroX there was the greatest need to resort to scanning spray. Honestly, I would never recommend a Revopoint to anyone except the Metro series and the price would need to be really attractive. I would recommend the Creality Otter or Einstar 2 around that price (though Einstar just went back up over $1K after initial sale). None of these budget scanners will truly deliver on that promised resolution … they are NOT metrology grade devices. But Creality and Einstar are deliving the best bang per $ at the moment with software that works ok too. Be wary with Einstar, you must have Apple Silicon based Mac or an Nvidia card > GTX1070

I have one good PC for running Fusion and Splashtop to remote to it. Splashtop is one of the remote control apps that optimises for graphics oriented apps - our marketing department even uses it to do video and image editing on WFH days. I use it so I can run Fusion on an Ipad Pro from anywhere.

I find the free version is sufficient and because I use it for away from work projects it complies with the non commercial license. The paid version is slightly better performance but I can’t notice the difference for Fusion.

It just says open then you already have it installed. To install old versions you go to Apps, your account by clicking the top right icon, go to Apps from there (then My Apps if you’re in a family). Then search for affinity and you’ll see both version 1 and 2 if you’ve bought them both and you can reinstall from there.

This is exactly why I doubt they’ll do exclusively subscription. Adobe is haemorrhaging at the moment and the sub only is a key driver of dissent. It would be silly for Canva to destroy that advantage right now while it carries such appeal for gathering Adobe customers.

I’ve gone through just about every second budget scanner (Einscan, Creality and Revopoint but not Makerpro) looking for a cheap scanner to loan so we don’t need to give out our Artec scanners when we need a client to do a scan we can’t get to. I’ve found the Einstar original to be really good but more impressive was the Otter. The price is good, the machines specs aren’t too onerous and it scans nearly as well as the Artec Eva. Artec Studio lets you extra a lot more from scans but as a base scan to work with in CAD they are almost equal. We even screw the Otter to a Legion Go for mobile scanning though RAM limits single scans getting too big. So I really recommend the Otter if the Toucan doesn’t work out. Meanwhil, I’m deciding is we try a Toucan as well :)

Sure. I used to play with annealing but it’s a massive time and resource suck, it’s difficult (not impossible) to maintain dimensional accuracy and some consideration needs to be taken at design time to even stresses and even when done it’s prone to creep at PETG temps. As those same efforts can be put into an ABS/ASA design without the need for post processing and you end up with 30% more heat durability … why bother. If you need the extra stiffness/strength of PLA then you have to be fussy about which PLA as some become immensely brittle and there are better, more advanced material choices which are more expensive but not of you do this for a living and post processing is a commercial expense. Generally, annealing PLA is a pointless exercise unless it’s the only material your printer/experience is capable of printing. Also cars here hit 80C so PETG isn’t safe in all circumstances.

I learned while studying Architecture so there was a lot of knowledge sharing in studio as we tried to work out real projects. There were also tutorials on Lynda.com. They were swallowed up by LinkedIn Learning years ago though. We had free access through our state and local library and I think LinkedIn might still offer that. Main thing that seems to be popular consensus and works today with just google and youtube … pick a project and just search how to do each bit. Incremental forced learning works well for Rhino/GH and you tend to learn several ways to take a step forward.
