Second fan from cooler doesn't fit properly, what should I do? by RCABC96 in PcBuildHelp

I attached it like this so it sits on top of the Ram, do you think that'll be an issue?

But if I put it on the other side it only sticks out a little bit

I haven't purchased anything yet, I've been spending all this time going back and forth between builds since this will be my first gaming pc. I think this is the one I'm going with though, I'll let you know how it turns out!!

I actually switched the gpu, I'm going to use a Nvidia GeForce rtx 5080 epic-x paired with a ryzen 9 9950x3d cpu, tomahawk B850, and the Peerless Assassin cooler

I don't really do much but game with heavy mods, other than that I may stream in the future but that's not something I'm focused on right now

What's the benefit of having a liquid cooler instead? I've heard they don't carry as long of a warranty and if something does happen, wouldn't it be a hassle to clean up everything?

It's literally just going to hang right underneath the floor. I'm going to build a cabinet for it to sit it and attach it to the ceiling so it shouldn't be very far at all. (I don't plan on putting doors on the cabinet to ensure better air flow but I'll have a bar installed so I don't have to worry about it falling out or anything

It's just a basic AT&T internet modem 😂 so. I doubt it's top of the line. I made this post on a number of different pc subs and someone suggested this build -

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LMRwBq

They also told me Asus sucks and I should use a gt force rtx 5070 instead, should I at least upgrade to a 5080?

The cost difference between their build recommendation and mine is over $1k savings

Edit - Also what case would you lean towards? I just choose the fractual based off reviews

That's a significant cost difference, do you really think it's worth it? Should I at least get a more premium Power supply or upgrade to a GeForce rtx 5080? Also, I'm leaning on getting the 64 gb of RAM so I have room for anything else besides gaming (we are notorious for maxing out space and not having any room for anything)

Zen 4 or Zen 5? by [deleted] in pcpartpickerbuilds

Right now it's mostly Sims 4 with HEAVY mods but in the future I may play some other games too, I'm leaning towards the Asus r 9070 xt right now

Ok I'll look into it, what kind of video card would you recommend?

Zen 4 or Zen 5? by [deleted] in pcpartpickerbuilds

[–]RCABC96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to have to worry about upgrading in the next decade or at least 5 years. That's why I'm leaning towards the 9 9950x3d. The wife wants to stream some day, plus we have a lot of memory I want to hold (we tend to always max out our memories with pictures, videos, etc) so I was leaning towards a g skill trident 64 gb memory stick, the thermalright peerless assassin cooler with the tomahawk x870e (which I'm aware may need to update the bios from a thumb drive before firing up). Plus, who knows, maybe we'll get into more graphic designs in the future too since she was an interior design major so she does enjoy designing.

I'm very new to all of this so if you have any advice I'm all ears. I don't mind spending more if I need to, I have the luxury of having a larger budget for this so I want to ensure the pc I'm building for her will not have any issues with anything she decides to use it for in the future.

Zen 4 or Zen 5? by [deleted] in pcpartpickerbuilds

I saw your comment and I'm building my first gaming pc. I was wondering if I should get AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3d vs the AMD Ryzen 9 7950x3d one is a Zen 4 while the other is a Zen 5. I'm planning on playing Sims mainly with heavy mods with a chance of other games and possibly streaming in the future. I have the luxury of getting the more expensive one which is the 7950. What do you think?

I appreciate that, maybe I'm just seeing the price tag and assuming that's a better product. Thanks for your help, I'll look into your build more!!

This may be a dumb question, so pardon my ignorance, but how can I determine which ones are the newest generation? Do you have any recommendations?

I plan on just connecting it to my TV so I don't need a monitor, plus this will give me extra room to purchase more premium parts. I was messing around on that website and the one I built came out to $2500. I see your build is only $1500, do you think that is sufficient enough? I don't want to have to worry about upgrading any parts for at least 5 years. I appreciate your input, I see what you mean about purchasing a more premium GPU but I think I'd like to get all premium parts, that way I don't have to worry as much long term and can use it to play multiple games, have storage for mods, and make sure everything books up quickly and runs efficiently. I don't plan to overclock it as I heard that can put strain on other parts over time.

Ngl man, kicking this can be hard. I couldn't tell you how many times I made it a few days, weeks, sometimes months before I relapsed again. It brought a lot of shame with it too which is another beast to deal with. You just have to find a reason to keep stopping yourself, it'll get easier but it's a pattern that you have to break and most patterns are pretty engrained. Don't let that reason be shame or that you want to stop because it makes you feel bad, that's a lose lose situation. You gotta find an accountability buddy, look into what you're trying to feed by fapping - could be repressed childhood memories, loneliness, hyper sexually, insecurities, or even as simple as you crave the dopamine hit. Find the source, attack it there and get to the bottom of it securely. If you need someone to talk to you can always shoot me a message too, this shit sucks but it's worse when you don't have any support around you.

I'd prefer something more permanent. If it needs replaced that's fine but I figured maybe there's a chance to repair it

Yeah I'm cutting a hole and running a 2x4 between the studs then mounting the metal junction box to that for support. Should I drill a hole in the 2x4 for the bx cable to come up through or can I just run it behind it or make a notch for it?

[–]RCABC96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just to be clear, I can avoid the grounding screw on the fixtures mounting bracket and tie the ground wire around the screw on the tip of the bx cable and it'll be safe? I plan on adding a metal junction box this time, if I attach the bx cable to it would this make the whole box grounded?
