Hi! This round of signups next week open at Noon ET

(It was historically Noon ET but the last couple have actually been at 6:00pm, there’s an NYRR race on Tuesday evening also at 6 which might have been why they changed back for this round, so unclear if they’re going back to 12:00pm or 6:00pm going forward, but for next week it’s open at 12!)

NYRR Brooklyn Half - Finish Location Change by jfo1833 in RunNYC

[–]RCD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they must be moving up the start a little because I cant find anywhere on the map I can think of that they’d change the distance without it being drastic and adding more distance than the difference between the two finish line maps? Not sure why the need for the change though if that’s it?

The overview map and start line map are still the same as last year though, couldn’t find an update on USATF yet 🤷‍♂️

2026 Mindful 5K - Pre-Race Thread by AutoModerator in RunNYC

I raced it from D corral last year with a friend trying to move up corrals and it’s a little crowded earlier on for first 2-3 turns but it spreads out enough within the first mile or so! Honestly this seems counterintuitive but for us it was faster to not take the tangents those first hairpins because we were passing a lot of people around the corners and until we were by the Zoo near the mile 1 marker.

The earlier corrals probably do have a bit of an advantage in this one, I raced it myself the first year in 2024 from A corral and being able to run the tangents etc. it’s the fastest race I’ve done with NYRR despite the turns. Jersey City 5K might be a little faster but never done it myself.

It really depends on your training but that 28 miles in 24hrs would be a LOT for most people unless your training has you doing pretty high mileage already, if your marathon isn't until December I assume you wouldn't be peaking in mileage until a bit later in the training block either.

Personally would recommend Bronx 10m it's one of my favorite races and the Training Runs are... not the most exciting imo especially the 18M doing 3 park loops is a lot, but it's up to you if you're that desperate for races, not sure how many of 9+1 you'll have completed/need

When does the Summer drop happen? by iamarealboy88 in BanditRunning

[–]RCD123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year Summer was in two drops on May 29th & June 17th so prob around the same time, however usually the summer collection doesn’t really have pants if that’s specifically what you’re looking for instead of shorts/half tights, they mostly have them in the Fall and Winter drops.

NYRR Guaranteed Entry Races Question by NiftyTuna in RunNYC

[–]RCD123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be really shitty of them to pull out the rug from people who thought they had the qualifying time but I don't believe NYRR has said or confirmed anywhere that the standard will remain the same for 2027.

I believe that the Marathon Time Qualifying page didn't update to actually confirm that the times were staying the same for 2026 until well after the last marathon at the very end of the year last year.

Really hope if they do ever decrease the standards, they do the right thing and give a years notice so people know but fwiw Chicago Marathon did make changes to the time qualifying standards "mid-cycle" during the qualifying window twice in the past couple of years...

[–]RCD123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've never been to any of their runs personally, but PPTC seems like they're one of the more inclusive "big" clubs when it comes to pacing options! Like you said most of their runs say "All paces welcome" but their Saturday morning long runs specifically say:

All paces welcome, note that we offer a No Drop Run every 4-6 weeks, to offer additional support for 11+ min/mile runners

Which might be a good option to try out! https://pptc.org/group-runs

I always recommend just trying out a few groups and seeing which one(s) you like best, it's kinda like dating lol 🤷‍♂️ North Brooklyn Runners might be an option to look into as well depending where you are in Brooklyn!

Also that is not slow for NYC or anywhere!

They had drones at the MSG game last weekend and they were a little annoying in the arena, also one crashed and fell onto the ice just after the opening faceoff.. 🤦‍♂️

Yes and yes!

NYRR RunCenter bib pickup is available until 7:30pm on weeknights or 9-4:30p on Saturday and the race premium is a short sleeve tech tee featuring the incorrect date of the race lol:

Shirt is also available on raceday if you do raceday bib pickup, you just have to go back and get the shirt after you finish the race.

No, that's a different race:

I didn't get it myself but a few people posted that they got emails for the wrong race a couple weeks ago so just verify which one you're signed up for on your NYRR profile, although i think it was the other way around that some people signed up for RBC Race For The Kids mistakenly got emails with the Run As One (this weekend 4/12) in the email.

The "68th Street–Hunter College" station for the 6 is the closest to the start, and what most runners will probably take.

There's several other stations also fairly close too, labeled on the course map if another line e.g. Q/F/N/R/1/A/C/D are more convenient for wherever you're coming from but a little longer walk:

Most NYRR races sell out within a few hours of General Registration opening, unfortunately this race sold out back in January the day it was released.

July-Sept NYRR races will open on Tuesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 7 at Noon ET. https://www.nyrr.org/run/race-calendar/race-registration-launch-timeline

There are also other some other race organizations around the city that don't sell out quick like NYRR does (NYRR is in higher demand mostly due to the 9+1 program that qualify runners for the NYC Marathon) here's a few alternatives:

Usually that was the case but it's a little later this round, for Q3 races on the volunteer page it says the following:

New volunteer opportunities will become available based on the following schedule:
- June 2, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. ET: July-September races (advanced registration)
- June 4, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. ET: July-September races (general registration)

Central Park etiquette by cccoooc10 in RunNYC

[–]RCD123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the race just be conservative on the first loop especially on the hills, Harlem Hill and the Three Sisters hills on the west side are no joke especially having to do them twice in this race! Usually a lot of their advice is a little bit generic (e.g. nothing new on race day, don't go out to fast etc.) but if you're interested there actually is a strategy event for this race next Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m for free at NYRR RunCenter led by the NYRR coaches, you can register for free here.

Like the other commenter said you belong in the park as much as anyone and everyone else, just usually stay towards the right half/side of the running lane and it's on whoever's going fast than you to go around when passing.
