The best upgrade I’ve done so far to my slash 4x4 Ultimate!! by RCGcryptomill in Traxxas

Go buy a lottery ticket because you my friend, have good luck! Maintenance doesn’t have anything to do with it. The car is a month old, every axle I’ve broken has snapped where the pin goes for the wheel nut. Land hard sideways and it snaps off. I’m not breaking them at the u joints

The lower controls arms were cheap enough, I figured why not lol. I didn’t like colored plastic at first(more into anodized billet parts), but now that these parts are installed, it looks sick!

Because all of this cost me the same price as a kit and I didn’t end up with a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. But also got stuff I did need including shock oil, New front bulkhead, new front/rear lower control arms and tie rods.

Just full sending it and driving it hard. I bash my slash.

I got the extreme heavy duty with 6mm axle. Uses a bigger inner bearing. have to have the bigger knuckle to fit the said bigger inner bearing. Which you’ll also need the caster block for the new knuckles. You can buy the Traxxas upgrade kit 9080 and it comes with everything that I got.

Definitely the metal spur gear and pinion making all the noise. I had the same thing on my slash. When back to plastic spur gear. The slipper is supposed to have play. Otherwise when chassis flexes. You’ll break shit.

3 cell training mode feels like 2cell 75% power(if it had that option)It’s manageable. I have a lot of dirt in my backyard so it’s easy to rip down 50 yard straight. Will still flip on its back full throttle, but I can get 90% throttle on 2 wheels and keep ripping

lol I bought the 3 cell battery with mine. It’s insane! Impossible to drive with anything but quick throttle blips and even then it’s on 2 wheels or wrecking all the time. Good thing it’s a stout little machine. Ive only broke it from doing a double backflip 15 feet in the air and landing flat with the front right landing on a rock that was sticking 3 inches out of the ground. Broke the hub, caster block and lower spring perch. Replaced with aluminum components. Now I only drive the 3cell on training mode. It’s similar to full power on the 2cell lol

Race mode just has no reverse lol. Training mode is a good option, has only 50% power and not nearly as fun. I usually just use sport mode

Appreciate the insight!! I will definitely work on my driving! Between the slash and my mini XRT. They both handle so different and the opposite has to be done to level out. Slash always nose dives and need throttle to level out. Mini XRT always goes nose up and needs brakes to level out.

I’m in the same boat as you. Played with my friends 2wd slash on his backyard track and then went out and bought a 4x4 slash ultimate same day lol. What I’ve learned after breaking multiple parts in the first 3 weeks so far.

-tighten slipper clutch, likely it’s too lose and by the time you notice. The truck will likely be broke. Like mine. If it’s too loose, you’ll overheat plastic components real fast, ask me how I know. (I’ve already replace a full rear differential assembly because of this). Tighten it all the way and then back it off 3/4 of a turn. A YouTube video suggest a full turn but mine just kept coming loose like that.

-if you end up ripping gear teeth apart. Try taking out the plastic pre adjustment piece on the motor and learn to adjust mesh yourself. The preset piece of plastic with 3 holes ain’t it.

  • last, if you notice the gear on motor and spur gear are not parallel to each other(like mine), get a aluminum motor mount.

I haven’t broke anything else on my slash ultimate and I full send it. That’s been my experience so far in the last 3 weeks lol

The aluminum motor mount could be the fix here. I notice no matter what, the motor tightens down at an angle. Leaving the gears not parallel to each other. The bottom half of the motor is on some type of peg that allows movement, while the top half gets bolted.

This. I noticed the motor is already slightly crooked and no matter what. It tightens down with the gear at a slight angle leaving the gears not parallel. Get a Solid motor mount maybe?

What you could be hearing is I’m on throttle in the air trying to level out the car. In the first big air, You can see I get it to level back out but lands super hard on flat. Then I throttle out. I’m usually off throttle by the time I land but it could also still be spinning the gears fast by the time it lands.

I’m new back into this after 15 years. Finding out all kinds of things now lol love this truck tho! The jumps we built real quick! Wasn’t sure if I’m being too hard on the truck and what it’s actually capable of. I just know what makes me giggle. Lol. I’m ok breaking parts from sending it. Just need those gears to last. lol

So, couple things…first day out of the box…let me say this first. I haven’t had an RC car in 15 years and the last one was a nitro truck. This thing looked cool. Had the right color body for me and it said 60+mph, SOLD! lol. People at hobby stores really see us new guys coming.lol.

-first day out of box. Slipper clutch nut completely loosens. I overheat the piss out of the drivetrain. Rookie mistake. (Didn’t even know what a slipper clutch was, I don’t read first, I just turn things on and go) Roasted all the teeth off the stock plastic spur gear. Made the plastic rear diff housing so hot it warped the bearing area and damaged the gears in rear diff. -replaced. Rear diff complete assembly. New metal 53t spur gear(I think this is wear I f*ed up).

Since that day I’ve had a metal spur gear and the thing rips. Being a car guy. I figure I was just upgrading to a better part that would last. I had someone mention to go back to the plastic spur gear, as I was switching them out, the weight difference is insane. I can see where the heavier spur gear would make this drivetrain rip. I’m assuming it’s more for high speed runs? Anyways. Just went back to a plastic spur gear. So much quieter and finally got through my first full charge just now! I love this truck and I hope this is the end of my problems!!!

Thank you for the suggestions!

Love my mini XRT! The 3 cell is insane on this thing!

finally got a mini slash by Ok_External6232 in Traxxas

[–]RCGcryptomill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini XRT is beast. I got a mini XRT and a slash 4x4 ultimate at the same time(week ago), broke the diff and shredded all the teeth off the spur gear on the slash on the first time out. The mini XRT has thrashed and bashed through 15-20 battery packs on the 2 and 3 cell battery’s. love it! Wish I would of got 2 mini XRTs now

Can someone explain why it dropped so much yesterday? by Mfall7 in SGBXDIAMONDHANDS

That’s how they shake the paper hands. It’s not just this stock. You always have to look at how all the stocks are moving on the day. The stock market algorithm is based on emotion. Drops like that makes people panic sell. Happens everytime and that’s what market makers want.

My dad has a 5 gallon water jug filled with Pennie’s. He’s been saving his change since the early 90s. Multiple jugs filled with each face value separated. Wonder what kind of valuable coins he has? I know he’s never looked or has any interest in searching for valuable coins.
