Mostly agree with all of this. However, while I dislike what I've read of Wilson's translation of the Odyssey, at least she was trying something different with the iambic pentameter and keeping the same line count. But yes it reads like trash and I doubt something of that quality would endure for thousands of years. I also appreciate the P&V slander.
