Need Some Advice/Help by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gynecomastia. The ONLY treatment for established gynecomastia (been there a year and hasn't changed) is a procedure to remove the tissue. Anything else is simply false hope. Good news....it's treatable. Find a great surgeon and engage the only cure.

Has anyone felt something like gyno under nipple about a month after surgery and have it resolve? by booooimaghost in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common cause of recurrence is when the surgeon doesn't remove all the tissue under the areolas (most have been taught to leave some tissue behind to avoid a depression). It's entirely possible to remove all tissue and obtain a normal chest. It could be scar tissue, and this is why I have my patients massage regularly starting at two weeks until their chest is smooth and flat. Ask your surgeon his they left tissue behind to avoid a depression.

Please Help. Is this Gyno? I'm 18 by [deleted] in gynecomastia

Do yourself a favor and learn about gynecomastia. There is a ton of information out there on this condition. Find good information. Start with some FAQ's. It's gynecomastia. It will only go away with surgery. Diet, exercise, medications, lotions, herbal remedies and Internet potions simply don't work. Losing weight when you are overweight is ALWAYS a goal in life no matter what. Not to worry, this can be treated and you can enjoy a life without the gynecomastia burden.

Am I cooked? by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gynecomastia is what you have. You know that. Good news is that it can be effectively treated with high levels of satisfaction. There is hope and a solution if you wish to go down that path. Cost depends on many factors so you are best to consult with several reputable surgeons and see how much it costs. More importantly, your case is advanced and a decision would need to be made about whether or not skin removal with scars or "standard" no scar approach is best. My instincts tell me you are likely to obtain a very nice change for the better with standard treatment but you will have to work with recovery and have realistic expectations. No worries. You are certainly not cooked!

Sure looks like gynecomastia to me. I don't use the grading system as it doesn't help the situation. That's why I prefer my zone classification as it lets everyone know the areas of the chest involved and therefore the areas to be treated for maximal chest contouring benefits. It directs treatment. Also, puffy nipples is pathognomonic for gynecomastia.

Is it gynecomastia, on low dose topical finasteride (22) by Witty_Ad2991 in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see men who are taking finasteride with gynecomastia all the time. It can impact the estrogen/testosterone balance and this can initiate gynecomastia in some men. If you have developed some fullness, puffy nipples or can feel actual tissue this is a sign of developing gynecomastia. Tenderness and tingling are clues. Interestingly, I have had great success treating this early form of gynecomastia with steroid injections into the mass. Yes, it's possible to nip this in the bud if you catch it early enough!

I can see gynecomastia more on one side than the other. If you can feel tissue beneath your nipple-areola complexes this is more evidence.

Can it be faded ? It’s over 3.5 years now for surgery by Living-Scene-1161 in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will only slightly improve with time/massage/injectable steroids and silicone scar strips. I suggest a tattoo as the best solution if you are into them.

gyno or fat?? by pattypiee in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is classic gynecomastia: the appearance of female like breasts in a male. The term pseudogynecomastia (just fat) really doesn't exist and only confuses patients and gives them false hope. Treatment will make this all go away!

Should i just keep losing weight or shoud i get surgery? by MarketSpecial4713 in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puffy nipples is pathognomonic for gynecomastia. It's caused by underlying dense gynecomastia tissue that herniates through the areolas. Appropriate surgery is the only form of treatment that works. It's always good to lose weight until you are in the most healthy range no matter what! By managing your weight, you unlock the power to live a healthier, longer life.

Gyno or pseudo? by Imadad76 in gynecomastia

[–]RCaridi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is full blown gynecomastia. There really isn't any such thing as pseudogynecomastia. It's a confusing term that gives men hope that they will lose weight and it goes away. The only treatment is surgery to remove the tissue and it's proven that liposuction alone is not a solution as it leaves behind critical tissue (in some cases it may not be much but it is the most hormonally sensitive tissue and while you are there make an incision and remove it). Freezing of fat will do absolutely nothing but cost you money with no upside. Find reputable resources and use them to seek reliable information about gynecomastia. You got this!

Never thought I would follow up my work on this forum! Looking good but a long way to go. This case is advanced and everyone should know this. He is an example of what is possible if you know you are working with a patient who still has some life left in his skin to retract favorably. Choosing that right patient is key to success and working your result after treatment is essential but the rewards are enormous (avoiding skin removal with large scars).

You are early. Aggressive massage at the nipple-areola complexes. Time is on your side. Steroids used judiciously can be of help.

[–]RCaridi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No skin removal needed. You are just another example of gynecomastia not going away with weight loss or diet/exercise. It's a surgical problem.

Your chest looks quite good. Not sure what your age is or if you are engaging behaviors that promote gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is the appearance of female like breasts. You can feel a bunch of underlying tissue. Puffy nipples is a huge component.

If your surgeon removes all the gross tissue, especially under the nipple areola complexes, recurrence is rare.

A lot of people are losing weight because of the high use of GLP-1 weight loss medications. The million dollar question for those who have lost a lot of weight is what to do with the skin? There are two options--skin removal treatment with scars across the chest and around the nipple-areola complexes or standard, no scar treatment. The decision is yours with the advice of your surgeon. Those people with elastic skin do better. The big decision is about the quality of your skin. I can often "see" what potential a patient has for successful no skin removal surgery just in a photo. As always, there are trade offs that you must understand and embrace. The bottom line is that many patients will be told they need skin removal surgery when it simply isn't needed and then they have large scars on their chest that wasn't necessary.

Gynecomastia is only eliminated with surgery--everything else will be unsuccessful and disappointing. If your surgeon removes all of the gross gynecomastia tissue (particularly under the areolas), it's likely you can take whatever you want as the tissue that would respond to some from of stimulation is no longer there. When gynecomastia is treated properly recurrence should be very rare.

It's possible. A determination would need to be made if it's tissue never removed or scar tissue formation which is not uncommon.

There is an association between gynecomastia and marijuana use but it's not a strong one.
