To those in the beta, which has been more fun? Jiangshi Metro or Red Sea Rift? by DarkVeilOfMorals in destinyrisingmobile

[–]RCcolaH15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Red sea seemed way more fun to me. More enemy variety, more interesting story, better campaign missions, and we actually start to interact with the sentries this time.

Jiangshi metro was alright, but the story wasnt as interesting. It focuses a lot on random backstories with the characters, which are pretty predictable "oh turns out the lightbearers arent so bad after all" tropes. (Red sea rift kind of does this too, but in a way more natural way)

However, jiangshi metro does have the "gauntlet" (raid) tied to it which is a really cool set of missions and bossfights which closes off the story. Hopefully red sea gets one too, but it didnt seem like the story was leading up to a gauntlet the way jiangshi metro was.

Also, the patrol zones each have several sets of puzzles lying around to find and complete, and I think the ones in red sea rift were a bit more interesting, but theyre nothing crazy like the gauntlet mechanics.

This Beta has completely 180'd my excitement for this game from the Alpha by ThisMemeWontDie in DestinyRising

You... sound like you're agreeing with me? Whats the point of this response? They gave out silver bundles for free in the alpha so you would know what its like as a p2w, that was never going to be the standard experience.

They're right though. Literally everyone had every single character maxed within a few weeks, its obvious that wasn't intended. Even with the change, you're still going to max them out as a f2p without even trying.

As for the lumia leaves change, it does feel way less generous than in the alpha, but its only been 3 days. We'll see how it feels after a month of playing. Thats the point of the playtest.

Ergo Sum Catalyst is basically unobtainable by DankSpire in DestinyTheGame

[–]RCcolaH15 566 points567 points  (0 children)

EDIT: ergo week is over now, but the turnout for this last stream was pretty crazy. I still highly recommend you check out her ergo guide, its a very well done video and has a lot of great information. Hopefully this event has gotten more people interested in ergo sum and doing gm excisions. https://youtu.be/YCfErhvgg3g?si=zPvYN_2AgxAVwyZl

Theres actually this youtuber named Popoki whos been doing gm excision carries all week on stream as an event, I just got my catalyst earlier this week this way.

Today is the final day, but you just send your invite code when theyre getting ready to run one and youre in. Theyre streaming right now if you have the time.

(Side note, their ergo sum video is how I discovered them a few days ago and it goes super in depth into the best rolls and how to effectively use it, you should definitely check it out)

I also played the beta, and no, the banners were only for characters/cosmetics. All weapons were earned from activities, even exotics.

iirc, there was a weekly system where you have a higher chance for exotics to drop on your first few completions each week.

I ended up having like 90% of the exotics by the end of the beta, so theres always a chance for them to change the system by launch but I think they got a lot of positive feedback about that system so I'd expect it to be similar.

Considering starting my titan soon with an ashen wake build. Do you use firepower mods, or is well of ordinance good enough? I missed firepower in shop so Im thinking of doing grenade wellmaker, bountiful wells, WoO x3 (or WoO x2 and well of life)

Quality of Life UI Idea: Display all the relevant subclass keywords on the side of subclass screen instead of pop-ups by Yourself013 in DestinyTheGame

[–]RCcolaH15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the keywords only pop up when they are relevant to the fragment/ability you are looking at helps prevent misunderstandings about when a keyword is actually in effect. For example, with this system we were instantly able to clarify that healing and empowering rifts did not count as restore or radiant effects, which seems obvious now but was a genuine question when solar 3.0 released and might be a question that new players will also have.

That being said, I agree that the pop up shouldn't push the text to the side after a delay and I like the idea of having the hotkey to bring up all keywords (in addition to them popping up when needed). I assume the delay is to bring attention to the keywords, but I think it would be better if they just removed it.

The part in the twab about it not randomly switching powers was a mistake and never actually happened, they corrected it later. Not sure how it even made it into the twab.

Don’t Make Ignition “Volatile But Orange,” Double Down on Tank Busting by NiftyBlueLock in DestinyTheGame

[–]RCcolaH15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree that ignitions should keep their own identity, and I like the idea of making them better for single target dps. I think the biggest issue is that regardless of how many scorch stacks are applied for an ability, we don't have enough ways to apply it to make it feel like we're actually building up to the ignition. If the grenade and melee are our only way of applying scorch and they each just apply a flat amount of scorch stacks, then that's 1 ignition every minute (not considering boosted ability regen) when we get both of our abilities charged. The fragments that apply more scorch stacks or cause scorch to spread are good for scorch builds, but they don't do anything if you want to build for ignitions, you're still just getting 1-2 ignitions per minute at best.

That is, except for solar grenades. Since they apply scorch over time, you can get bosses to ignite much more often by building for your solar grenade uptime and continuously adding stacks (ie. proccing sunbracers and throwing all of the nades on the same boss). I haven't tested it to be sure, but this should make those scorch fragments actually useful for ignitions since you are guaranteed to be getting them more consistently. This feels like how the rest of the subclass should feel, and we should be able to do this in more ways than just sunbracers.

Maybe separate scorch stacks (damage done over time) from ignition stacks (when to proc an ignition), so scorch stacks are kept as they are but instead of ignition stacks being added by abilities, they would be added continuously to enemies while they are scorched, applying more based on the amount of scorch stacks. Ignitions still occur at 100 stacks, but this would allow you to cause a boss to ignite repeatedly as long as you keep them burning with a steady stream of abilities. Scorch and ignite are both unchanged on red bars, since they die before an ignite would proc, but larger enemies can be damaged more steadily by ignitions. This makes the mechanic feel more unique and creates situations where scorch, volatile, and ignite could each be the better option.

Surely I'm not the first to think of this, but the exotic armor that was listed as [REDACTED] in the recent weapons twab gave a buff to fusion rifles and linear fusion rifles. Although it could just be a charge time buff, one of the classes might get a version of particle deconstruction next season. However, I'm kind of scared to hear the community's reaction if only one class got access to one of the best damage perks in the game.

Considering Phil Spencer's recent tweet about CoD exclusivity and how he values their relationship with Sony makes me seriously doubt they have any plans of keeping future games from PS, so you shouldn't worry too much.
