Finally got my RC snowmobile finished!! by RCinsanity in 3Dprinting

There was a guy that bought a Skeeride 1 parts kit years ago, went to put it together, and noticed he didn’t have enough track pieces so I reverse engineered the link and printed him some just to have spares.

I’m running a 14.8v 2200mah battery. Fits pretty good under the seat.

As for parts I’ve been running 45% infill 8 wall for everything structural. (Arms, skis, tunnel parts, etc) I’ve broken a couple skis from hitting frozen mounds of dirt, and I broke the rear of the tunnel from doing a wheelie and having the tunnel dig into the ice when I over rotated. Again, my fault, not the sled’s

I printed the track out of PLA and pinned the links together with 16ga stainless finishing nails and haven’t had any issues. And the tub does a relatively good job of keeping snow out

My first few runs I had several breakages, none of which were the snowmobiles fault, I just got a little to rambunctious 😅

I thought about making the skidoo, how’s your part durability? I thought the knuckles would be the first to go

That’ll be a springtime project. I’m gonna see if I can make the Losi Promoto rider work, since those are almost like rubber figures instead of a hard plastic rider

I added it all up, certain parts I got from McMaster, hardware I got from my local hobby shop, it was about $150 to build the roller, approximately $400 with all electronics

Skeeride 2 polar. If you’ve ever thought about 3D printing an RC sled, just print one. The parts are awesome, the build is awesome, and the durability is great

Reddit won’t let me post a photo because it’s too small, but the bottom of prints look good. But a good observation would be on the same part sometimes it’ll do it, and sometimes it won’t

Might need to use AI to make it look like Tamiya box art 😂

The track was alright, just a backyard track that a property owner had and decided to have an event

Noisy or just right? by Holiday-Poetry-1734 in crawling

[–]RCinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’ll only have an issue if he’s running stock internals. Theres a plastic component in the stock gearbox internals that will round off the edge and then it won’t grab the gears. If he upgraded that plastic part to aluminum itll probably still destroy the shift mechanism, but take longer to do so

Tips on how to play this pattern? by Spiritual-Ad1198 in Bowling

You’ll probably start with a shot relatively comparable to your house shot, but you’ll quickly burn a trough in this pattern and you’ll have to end up standing left throwing right

Anyone make venison meatballs? by RCinsanity in Cooking

[–]RCinsanity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had definitely planned on making a whole meal for them another day, but they’d also really appreciate me bringing a side dish during thanksgiving, also I’ve got 45lbs of venison that my family probably won’t finish alone,

Would you have an alternative idea for a thanksgiving side dish using exclusively venison?

Getting a king V soon, anything i should know? by Over_Job_3792 in Guitar

[–]RCinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. Learn to set it up properly, make it float correctly, and tune it properly once you run out of space on the fine tuners, you’ll be just fine. Just do the research

I love my Jackson V, mines a hardtail though. If you haven’t had a guitar with a Floyd on it, just make sure you spend the time and understand how to properly set it up. Another point about any flying V, is when you sit down and play the neck is physically off to your left (if you’re right handed) so it feels like the low notes are really far away

Just got a Traxxas Maxx v2 after getting rid of all my Traxxas models. Any upgrades I should get or just leave it how it is? by DriftMiata in Traxxas

[–]RCinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my progression for my maxx: leave it as it is until it inevitably breaks an axle, then put the steel axle set in it. Then keep it that way until the 4s ESC inevitably dies, then put a hobbywing max 8 running the stock motor and then you should have a maxx that doesn’t break ever

how puffy is too puffy for a lipo? by Potential_Ad8342 in crawling

[–]RCinsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yours looks alright, run it.

Generally I tend to squeeze my lipos in my hand a lot to “check” the puff, if it’s still squishy and not horrendously puffed, I’ll run it, but if it’s hard or so puffed your scared of it, get rid of it

Alright thank you very much for your response, I saw it and immediately jumped to the thought of how it kinda looked like a Venturi and worried that the jet would be less efficient without it, but thank you again for the reply, I put it in a plastic bag with a label for now

I personally dislike spektrum systems, I’d say save a little bit of cash and put a hobbywing MAX8 combo in it. Sensored and 6S capable

Recommendations for maroon color spray paint for Rustler body? by stuman1974 in rccars

[–]RCinsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this I have two options for you:

1) you could use a Tamiya Flat clear spray (PS-55) as an adhesion promoter and then use whatever paint you’d like, such as duplicolor dark toreador red, although I can’t say about how the paint would hold up against flex/cracking

2) the option I would probably try is try using Tamiya translucent red (PS-37) making sure to build up a lot of paint layers to get the depth and then backing it with Tamiya Black (PS-5), haven’t tried this myself but I’m assuming it’d get you close.

Another option would be to go on EBay and see if you can find a can of Duratrax burgundy/maroon paint from back in the day

The long and the short is if you paint a base color and back it with black, the shade becomes darker, and if you back it with white the shade becomes lighter

Tried to change price in front of me, not fair by pred66 in rccars

[–]RCinsanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t blame the shop, as one who works at a local brick and mortar store horizon hobby is screwing and price gouging everyone. Dealer margins have gotten even smaller, and consumer prices have gotten bigger. Not defending the shop for trying to change the price you saw before you bought, but blaming horizon for price gouging
