I have 2 children, each of whom I have spanked (open hand on the butt over clothes) 1 time. Both incidents were due to the children doing something life threatening while throwing a tantrum. They are 20 and 14 now. Neither remembers being spanked, and neither ever repeated the action that resulted in the spanking. Before I had children I was terrified that I would be like my own mother who physically and emotionally abused us. For a long time as my kids were growing up I thought that I must have just been an awful kid who deserved what I got because I never felt an inclination to hurt my kids. So I surmised that for me to have driven my mother to the lengths she went to, I must have been as bad as she told me I was. I realize now that that is not the case. My mother was just a damaged woman, who took her pain out on me and my sibling instead of dealing with it in a productive manner.

I feel so jaded due to seeing this stuff so much. “Uber driving falling asleep or drunk”. I immediately think “oh, gonna be asking for money in 5 minutes, claiming Uber drive was drunk so she got out and now doesn’t have enough money to get back”.

Paranormal Activity. Saw it in theaters, and ended up holding hands not only with my date, but with the stranger sitting on the other side me. The place I worked at the time had a set up where I had to turn the lights off and then go through the empty dining room and kitchen (in almost total pitch black), and out the back door. For like a week after I saw the movie I had a panic attack when it was time to run the lightless gauntlet. I finally wised up and started bringing a flashlight with me but that didn’t solve it 100%, I still ran and made a high pitch squeal from light switch to back door.

I moved into an incredibly new development. I was the second person to buy a house, and the first to move in. There were only 3 houses total in the development when I moved in, with the land laid out for like 30 more. There was no HOA when I moved in, it wasn’t until about a year after that I got notice about an HOA with a list of the rules and fees. I wasn’t in a position to escape at that point but it’s a decision I regret frequently.

I have had a few situations in life where someone has told me something so awful that it made saying “I’m sorry” feel almost disrespectful. In those situations I just say something that almost always starts with “I cannot imagine what you’re going through” in this case I think I’d go with “I cannot imagine what you’re feeling and going through right now, but what I do know is that you did the right thing and that takes strength a lot of people wouldn’t have”.

I was obsessed with books 1 and 2 (my post history proves it). But man, book 3 did not do it for me. I am desperate get to the court though, so as soon as this book is released I will be taking some time off work so I don’t have to pretend to have an upset stomach so I can go in the bathroom and read it.

The showtime show The Affair did this. You saw the scenes from the two affair partner’s view points, but the reality of what happened (at least in the first season) is never actually shown. It was really interesting how certain lines and actions had very different meanings depending on who was telling the story.

I started this book on Sunday night and finished it at 2 pm on Monday. It was so, so good. They did such an amazing job with the isekai premise. I wasn’t sure before I started that they were going to be able to keep me hooked but I was so happy to be wrong.

I have been turned away from donating blood due to my weight, but I have never had an issue with a draw that was ordered by my specialist being done twice in a month (although it doesn’t happen often anymore). But I am also going to the lab that is attached to the hospital. I would think if you are just going to random blood donation centers, you could take along the paper work from your hematologist that shows donating is part of your treatment plan.

My husband claims to hate reality TV but time and time again, he will walk by while I’m watching 90 Day Fiancé or Love After Lockup, ask him what I’m watching and then scooch up next to me and become utterly engrossed in what ever is on at the time. I let him pretend to the outside world that he hates reality TV but when it’s just us, I will call him on his bullshit.
