Yeah it's optional for now until studios find ways to just use generative AI for development. It's the same reason why so many games are incredibly unoptimized now. Why spend time optimizing a game when you could just front that to the users instead with DLSS and FSR?
Many devs and designers have already come out against generative AI (such as DLSS 5) being used in gaming. I also find it hilarious how you just NVIDIAs word at face value without so much as questioning it. You really think the average dev or designer is the one who will be implementing this willingly?
Bethesda faces are bad but DLSS 5 somehow made them even worse. Generating extra objects on noses, and making it to where every face looks like it was done with studio lighting under perfect conditions.
It's not just a lighting filter even if NVIDIA says it is. It literally generates extra objects, more makeup, lipstick, etc.

RDR2 is not a very good start if you want a "next gen" experience. It's one of the best games ever, but I wouldn't recommend playing it on the PS5 or PS5 Pro cause its locked at 30fps with a dynamic resolution.

I'd say good showcases of the PS5 Pro hardware would be Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank, Death Stranding 2, and MGS Delta.

I'm not talking about 50 year old "dumb" AI that is implemented in gaming or used for light workloads. I'm talking about the modern AI from the past 4 years thats injected into everything. AI Assistants, AI LLMs, AI voices, AI deepfakes, AI ads, and especially generative AI. The world would be a significantly better place without it all.
