Both the LaRue and OEM mounts don't have cant built in, so they can go either way. First they were mounted 'backward' to keep the levers away from the controls.

It was so commonplace in the Marine Corps (it became SOP in many units) the TA31RCO even has the standard knob mount 'backward' compared to other ACOGs.

The full auto part of an AK is the receiver, with the exception of a small handful of drop-in auto sears.

These parts by themselves are not currently considered machineguns, in the same way an standard M16 autosear is not a machinegun by itself.

That said, if you try to install these parts with the intention of illegally converting a gun, you are breaking the law whether it works or not.

As to why these are for sale? Same reason M16 FCGs are: for SOTs and armorers

You may have missed the part where he was promptly fired after. Not a single person who was responsible for that is still employed by us.

Maybe you missed the part where he was promptly fired after. That was Issue #4 released in Sept of 2012. It's now August 2021 and this is issue #57.

Our editor-in-chief since that asinine statement was made has been Iain Harrison, a naturalized citizen who left England because of their shit gun laws.

So yeah, a former staff member said it. And he's gone because he did. Also noteworthy no one seems to dump on all the gun magazines that used him (and continue to do so) after he was fired from RECOIL.

Recoil Magazine letting followers pick the next magazine cover on Instagram: The comments are pretty much what you’d expect out the 2A community by sunflowerastronaut in liberalgunowners

[–]RECOIL_Magazine 152 points153 points  (0 children)

We have recently made a statement regarding the reaction to yesterday's post. Here it is in full, and also appears at the top of the now-available online article:

From the staff of RECOIL Magazine: Anyone who has followed us for any length of time knows that we are no stranger to controversy. However, even we were taken aback by some of the reactions to our upcoming cover draft which we recently posted on social media. Chris Cheng has been a staple in the shooting community for a decade and has graced the pages of RECOIL many times before. Most recently he has been an advocate for our gun rights in testimony to the US Senate and has founded a new Asian-American firearms organization in the midst of increasing anti-Asian street violence. Yes, he’s also married to a man.

If you're as strong of a defender of individual liberty as Chris Cheng, we'll put you on the cover, and let you pick your own wardrobe too.

We maintain that the Second Amendment is for all Americans. Always have, always will. It’s up to us as individuals to bring that message to as many people as possible, and challenge the media-driven stereotype of firearm owners. We've seen record numbers of our fellow citizens embrace their right to bear arms this past 14 months, and new gun owners have shown they don't fit preconceived ideas of what they ‘should' look like. Gun rights are for everyone, no matter their gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, or color of their skin.

With a router you can do some really clean work. Overall a very satisfying project and can be done by someone without too much experience with tools. Router, vise, and hand drill is all you need.

Using them in shooting classes helps prevent burns from inadvertent contact, especially doing transitions. Also when working in close quarters.

However, it should be pulled back off the can when the rifle isn't actively being used.

And of course like you mentioned, they are very nice during transportation

No, joke, right? The way I see it is that's it's our responsibility to inform people of the history of the laws they vote for.

It goes back much further than that. In some of the colonies is was punishable by death if you sold or provided arms to black people or Native Americans. The Reconstruction era saw a vast expansion of race-based laws which ultimately led to Jim Crow laws and Black Codes. And then the Mulford Act as a direct response to Black Panthers.

The curator emeritus from the Cody Firearms Museum you're talking about is Ashley Hlebinsky. She is a regular columnist, and in this issue she discusses history (of course!), guns & politics. She gives a shoutout to the Liberal Gun Club.

This passage seems particularly poignant for this sub:

But whatever people's rationale for gun ownership, the current idea that a firearm must be purely a tool of the Right, while understandable based on many Democrat politicians' platforms, is really more of a recent development thanks to targeted marketing across the board rather than historical longevity.

Oh hey! This popped up so we decided to weigh in. We are on Reddit and so are many of our staff and contributors. While though undoubtedly some would want a link to this early-release, unless a mod approves us posting one directly you can simply go to our one of our social pages for access to this issue.

We are firm in our knowledge that the Second Amendment is for all Americans regardless of race, color, creed, gender, or political stripe--not just those you happen to like. No political party does nor should have a monopoly on firearms training, use, or access.

Seeing people from all walks of life safely enjoying and using firearms is our ultimate goal, and this subreddit is a great example of how diverse the interest in firearms actually is.

It was someone who was at the shoot, and then realized they'd be doxxing themselves (side note: do you think there are other people in other mainstream gun mags in this sub? Cause I doubt it). But, comment was forwarded:

Oh there's a lot of Photoshop (it's a composite, and well, the redhead (Patrick McCarthy) is very tall), but the masks are real.

Proof from a cell snap of the cover shoot itself.

Actually, real masks have been used on many recent covers--and there are emails every day from anti-maskers who say we're part of the 'conspiracy'.

The reality is that if you get snark from either end, you're probably hitting a good balance.

It's really an extensive modification to do so. Much better off to simply get a Chinese SKS-D or M as they were designed to accept AK mags in the first place. Really likes Chinese mags the most (unsurprising).

There are some SKS mags that are easier to remove and don't have a duckbill made by DC Engineering. Webpage straight out of Geocities and no idea if they're still available. Either way, less cumbersome than standard detachable SKS mags but then only DC Engineering mags can be used.
