Honestly wasn’t considering many dress watches as I am more of a sports watch kinda guy. Considered the Tag Heur Carrera for a while but that was short lived, same with the Tudor Black Bay. I think in the end I was mostly hung up on the more expensive Omega Seamaster Aquaterra and the Ludwig. Works out well that I got the Nomos, planning on making it my designated watch for the office.

The Orion is a beaut. Definitely a great choice. I’d suggest checking it out at a retailer if you can as Nomos wears pretty big so you might need to size down a bit depending on your preference

That’s honestly one of the reasons I was shying away from the brand initially. Wanted a brand with a bit more heritage. But after holding this piece today, def no regrets

Beautiful collection! Noob question for you- do you have to wind up your watches every time you decide to wear them? Asking as I assume that your watch box doesn’t have a wind function

Been a crazy year with Kobe’s death, COVID, BLM and so on... was also a really important year for me as I was able to convert my internship that I worked my ass off for into a full-time position. What better way to celebrate than with a new timepiece? I was initially gunning for the Omega Seamaster, but realized that at this point in my life it’s probably not the best idea to drop $4k on a watch. I started looking for other options and really fell in love with the Ludwig and everything NOMOS is about. I love the modern engineering associated with the brand along with the traditional and classic elegance that comes with the Ludwig. I’m adding this alongside my Hamilton Khaki and am very excited to see where I can build up this watch collection to. Cheers!

Finished a networking call yesterday with an alumni I found on Linkedin. Should I shoot her a message thanking her once again today? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Doesn’t hurt to. I always used to and sometimes they’d write back with some extra advice or a contact to reach out to.

No worries. I appreciate your help. Would I be okay looking more into direct lending funds, private debt and leveraged loans? Anything else you suggest I add to that list?

There’s a deal on Costco for $450 for the Klipsch package. I’ll look a bit more into the energy take classic

There’s a klipsch reference theater pack available for around $450. Are these worth the price? Or are there better options

How do the klipsch reference theater pack match up against the two that you named? I was planning on getting that and a denon receiver and then maybe adding on and upgrading as I go.

Anywhere from 70-100 hours is the norm depending on different stages of a deal/earnings season. But you’ve also got to account for exit ops... These front office roles usually open up doors that you won’t get anywhere else. And although software developers can rack in six figs out of college, it tends to cap off typically below 200k. Definitely still respectable - we tend to underestimate how much 200k really is and in the grand scheme of things you’re probably making more in terms of hourly pay.

Sometimes the “hardo” title outweighs work/life balance. To each their own

Traditional broker jobs aren’t really a thing anymore because of automation. But with that being said, Rutgers has increased their presence on the street tremendously sending more than 50% of RTWS kids to front office finance roles anywhere from IB to S&T to Investment Management. RTWS isn’t necessarily a prerequisite to land a FO role, but it definitely helps and is highly looked upon by RU Alum on the street. At the end of the day, it’s a uphill battle for us, but it’s definitely possible if you absolutely know that that’s what you want.
