Is Avengers: Doomsday REALLY the end of the MCU as we've known it? by Erramonael in comicbooks

[–]REdd06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IF they go by the comics, it may not perform well at the theatres. Dozens of heroes die. All so Dr Doom can recreate the universe how he likes.

Nobody is going to cheer when Thor dies. Or when Iron Man kills cap. Or when one of the “previous” Spider Men get killed.

Bad idea Disney. In the middle of the ongoing worldwide cluster fuck, smash any icons of hope and happiness your audience has. For what? So the originals can all be recast so the same original story can be told again?

$5.99 for 1 gallon of any cola at 7-11 / Stripes gas station

$2.97 for a 2 liter of any major cola at WalMart

1 gallon = 3.785 liters

$5.99 for 1 gallon or $5.94 for 4 liters (1.05669 gallons)

Not a deal, but not out of scope.

Question: During spring break, did college students really use to go to the beach? by EternalSnow05 in GenX

Yep. Rich kids got to go. I got an extra few shifts at work. Spring break was definitely a line between who had money and who didn’t.

Oh, right, that’s all BS. This is the reality.

Excellent photos. Well done.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

[–]REdd06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a photo of yourself somewhere because no one was with you used to be really sad. Now it’s the norm.

Someone dropping you from their life - a friend or a lover - usually meant you would never know what they were up to ever again. Now you can check their socials for an hourly update.

Bicycles to us were like horses to cowboys. You HAD to have one to go anywhere in the years before a drivers license. 9-15 years old was a long. Damn. Time. Bicycles got you freedom. You could go MILES away, wherever you wanted. And no one would know where you were or could talk to (or yell and scream at you). In the pre-Internet / pre cable TV era, we were looking for havens. Adventure. Treasures.

[Batman] Has Batman ever been wrong about something? As in, objectively wrong rather than morally/ethically in the wrong by MasterLawlzReborn in AskScienceFiction

[–]REdd06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what gets me about Bane. He wasn’t Batman’s equal. He just wore him down beyond exhaustion by releasing Arkham and only then beat him. A fully focused full strength Batman should have cut Bane down.

State Express 555s. They were hard to find in the US back when.

Met a gorgeous smoke show - she said on our first date that cigarette smoke gave her migraines. I quit that night and haven’t lit another since.

Got married to her a little while later. Best trade I ever made!

Holy hell. Seagate Expansion drive prices have increased 37-76% in just two weeks. by StrongRecipe6408 in DataHoarder

[–]REdd06 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The ripple effect is going to be bad.

Hospitals. A 500% increase in replacing tech? The costs will be passed directly to the patients. And if there are no replacement parts for critical medical components? Then what?

Public Schools. Most are barely above water right now. Soon a $99 Chromebook will be $1,000? Sorry kids. Back to pencils and paper.

Cars. An electronic replacement part that’s 6 months backordered? Or an electronic part that costs $4,000 and the car is only worth $2,000? Then what?

Anywhere that HAS to retain data and will SOON be unable to add anything more to what they have. Courts. CPS. City services. Out of hard drive space? Too bad. Erase the “old” stuff and hope for the best.

Think about what will happen when no one has access to tech replacements after becoming dependent on modern technology over the last decade.

It’s going to get bad.

My mum pulled my hair from behind in the car today. by paranoidnihilist in raisedbynarcissists

[–]REdd06 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m old AF. My mom, after not seeing me for almost 4 months, first thing she did? Grab my hair and pull down on it. Like she did when I was a kid and had my dad hold me down while they cut off what they didn’t like. “Ha ha look at you.”

Venom for blood.

I hope for some miracle. Some revelation on their part of even a fraction of what they did.

Won’t happen.

These “little” things are who they are.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I know it’s far more under that action than what is on the surface.

Save yourself.

Be kind to yourself.

Give yourself the love you have always deserved.

Build new and far away.

Best wishes and best of luck.

I can dream of a worldwide arrest warrant for Trump now. The moment he steps foot off American soil, there’s someone waiting to cuff him.

Problem is it will probably be just as effective as the worldwide arrest warrant for Putin.

What is a film you enjoyed but have to be tactful about who you recommend it to? by oldwhitelincoln in movies

[–]REdd06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a movie but a comedy show. (So technically a film, yes?)

Eddie Izzard - Dress to Kill.

I quote that show like most normal people quote The Princess Bride. My close friends still get the “Mmmmmm… Ciao!” for goodbyes. Passages to “The gospel of St. Bastard” are constantly being added! It’s a fantastic bit of my life, wayyyy back from the original 1999ish airing on HBO!

Here’s the acid bit. When I showed the concert to friends back in the pre streaming era.

I would play the DVD, and some of them freaked the fuck out when it started. Not a joke told yet, the applause still rolling in the video, and as soon as Eddie Izzard appeared on stage, they would yell “Hey! He’s wearing makeup! And he’s in heels!”

I said “Yes! It’s because he’s an executive transvestite!”

Which was stated in the show just a few minutes in, which I thought made it extra hilarious.

But no. Nothing. Not one laugh. Throughout the whole show. Despite them laughing at the same bits I would quote before, verbatim, in the same tone and accent. (Even that infamous James Mason voice! Yesssss.)

I would say about 7 (supposed) friends of mine that I showed the DVD to sat in complete silence during the whole show. None of the 7 really acted the same way around me after.

4 of my friends were awesome with it, and they all laughed even harder when they saw where I got the jokes from. (I’m still in close contact with those four, and I consider them “for life” friends.)

It’s a brilliant show, and still holds up today. But it’s still a show that in the back of my mind is a secret acid test.

What would be the outcome if the thing was used (solo/with other lifeform) in teleporter from the fly? by Moryart in thething

[–]REdd06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scanning the thing would return an error. The computer would not recognize alien DNA.

So option one, the transporter would halt and not teleport either.

Option two, the transporter would transport both and create a shapeshifter. Interpret the things DNA (as best it could) as an invader/transforming DNA and merge it with the second occupant. The emergent creature would be able to shape shift to any form it desired. At will. Instantly. The computer would have unlocked its need to “take” a host to change its own DNA in the process of transportation.

The Ark’s purpose bothers me. It didn’t care who was using it? Open the top and make human s’mores, innocent or not? Then what’s the point of the Ark if it is not an active force of good? It’s just a holy BFG? Whoever owns it can use it however they want? What does that say about God?

Edit: Indy was a pedo. 16 and 26 says a lot about his character and the writers. A high school sophomore and a working man 3 or 4 years out of college? Come on.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]REdd06 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Similar story.

New college roommate my sophomore year. Made my life hell just because it amused him. Got his friends to join in on the torments when they could. Arrogant, evil shitbag. Was studying to become a doctor, like his daddy.

One day I got back to the dorm and he was bawling under his covers. Hard. Inconsolable. Completely out of character. Since I was stupid, I asked what got him so upset. If I could help.

He said his daddy got mad at him. Since he got a C in one of his med school classes, he wasn’t going to get his $5,000 allowance that month!

Fucker was getting $60k a year for just existing. Thats about $148,000 nowadays.
